Hey how's this tune called ?
Pick it dude !!
Beautiful
Greatness 👌
You're awesome Gabe! Inspiring!!!
Just saw your version of gentle on my mind with lonely heartstring, that was incredible any chance of a tutorial?
Sounds Awesome Gabe, i always fear the best melodies have been written and recorded already so what does that leave us with besides having to really reach for something unique and different to achieve what would’ve been easy before all the good progressions were taken lol. Excellent work buddy
Whoa I just found this dude shredding and now I have to listen to more.
Really very nice tune well picked. And your banjo sounds great. Thanks Gabe.
That sounds really good, Gabe!
First of all. Amazing. Sounds so good. Second I'm a plumber and honestly I could totally hear that song playing while I'm trying to snake a drain :p Wicked song.
Nice jacket. Nicer playing
Fixing
I got this banjo to learn clawhammer and I second everything you said! I've tried banjos hundreds of dollars more that were quieter or more difficult to play for me, personally. Great playing btw!
Hell yeah, brother
Stunning...
Such a great tune! Record it! That banjo has such good tone…
Edit. You are pulling so much tone out of it. Sounds so good.
That's another level, wow!
God these are genuinely so good. God bless you Mr. Hirschfeld ☦🙏
Gabe, excellent tune and love the Epiphone.
Keep pumping 'em out, Gabe, and we'll keep listening with awe, rapt attention, and appreciation.
transmits anxiety. Logical if you wait for the plumber Great song!! Listening in Bilbao.
Sick tune!

Thanks so much for this video. Do you think nylgut strings would work on well? I want to get into clawhammer/mountain music. Thanks for your time!
I think that they would, but you would most likely have to widen the slots at he nut and bridge to accommodate the width. I had some nylgut on a different gold tone open back I had a few years back and it was great.
Love this, learning it!
@gabehirshfeld8688, where does this rank on your list of your favorite banjos you own? I've always been curious if you had to live with only one banjo, what that said banjo would be.
Second time through...that bit of John Hardy at the end really salvaged this 😆 Just kidding, great stuff Gabe.
I want to learn banjo but I want to learn on an electric banjo so I can play it through game play on computer game RP And hat would be recommended
It depends on what electronics you need in the instrument, but if you need something like Midi pickups a Nechville would be your best bet, though they're pretty pricey. If you simply just need any electric banjo, Gold Tone makes a pretty good one that is reasonably priced.
@ thank you will do some research based off that
Where would someone get one of these?
I just pucked up a used GT short scale....i am a guitar player but never tried a banjo until.now. Have any experience/wisdom with the GT short scales?
I was waiting for Burt Reynolds to come out of the woods with his bow and arrow. ! 😮 !
Your selection choices go way down if you have toe-thumbs lol. Been using deeming propik larges I had to unwrap and re-wrap so at times they loosen up. but I recently found a place in Columbus Ohio, The Bluegrass Music Shop, that had a giant bin of thumb picks and actually had extra larges. Had to dig for them but came up with about three different kinds; two different dunlops and one recording king. I like the recording king best. My point is, if you got fat thumbs, your options go way down.
I think in a band setting the clamshell would cut through better, but the presto has such a sweet sound. Very cool to be able to switch tailpieces and get such a different tone.
Hey, nothing to say really, except for that you sound really great!
Presto sounds punchy 😎
Not RED, not BLUE, just placing my vote for the clamshell.
Not enough to change out the originally of the banjo.
Love that prewar presto gabe
0:47 vs 1:44
I think the Presto is more "open-sounding" (if words could describe tone). That would be my preference.
Ii like the Clam shell has more bass tone to it
I think the second tail piece was clearer . For sure .?????
"this one makes me cry paw",,,
What is the best capo for banjo?
Came here for a review of the hoffmeyers. Great playing Gabe
This is a great review! Thank you so much. All the things I want to know. I won an AC1 just today in a drawing, it’ll be my first banjo so I figured I’d look around, see what the internet thinks of it! Right on brother 👍🏼
Gabe, I am a junior in high school conducting a study on individual bluegrass instruments and I was wondering if I could use the audio from this video in my study. You will be given full credit in the research process and final paper. Please let me know as soon as possible! Thank you!
@@loischaney405 you bet. Go ahead.
I just picked up an AC1, and it’s great! I’ve played mando, guitar and bass for 35+ years and this instrument truly is everything you say it is! I love it! I’ve always wanted to learn clawhammer style banjo, and this instrument’s easy playability and great sound will keep me interested, I’m sure.
Great lesson Gabe! You removed some of the fear of taking a break. As always wonderful to hear you play!
