If your motorcycle uses a points ignition system and has never had a CDI before, it cannot be installed . To install a CDI, you need to upgrade the system to support it. However, if you’ve already done this upgrade or your ignition system already uses CDI, you can use an AC CDI. I’ve built many examples, and the videos are available on my channel.

Stators are designed based on the type of motorcycle. In such stators, the white wire generates the power required for the charging system, while the yellow wire is used for lighting. This process is not possible without a regulator(rectifier), as it not only limits the voltage but also converts AC to DC. Batteries cannot be charged with AC power; otherwise, it will cause a short circuit.

DC CDI is different from AC, it depends on your application.

Before building, consider the type of CDI you need. The AC type is for alternating current, and the DC type is for direct current. It depends on the type of your motorcycle.
