Improving my Hobby Knife Kit's Blade Storage #3dprinted
#creality #3dprint #3dprintedparts #3dprinting #diy
I picked up this hobby knife kit for $3 at an estate sale.
As you can see, it's not very expensive, even brand new, but for $3, I'm happy with it. The original way to get to the extra blades was kind of a pain, so I had an idea to fix that, and thought I would share.

really easy to follow thank you!
Thank you for the view and comment!
I have 1.3.3.6 firmware...tried reset..another fw but dont work only sometime...tried push connector like u all cables..4 sensors...and main cable in board bed and also in mainboard didkt fixed ..wait for new replacements..lol...so like 2-3 weeks wait omf
Oh, in my last comment, I thought you said you already had the replacement parts installed. Hopefully when you get them, it fixes the problem for you!
i heat bed to 110 temp for few min then it fixed..for few days..but now everyprint this error..so i need heat bed 100 then work.if not reset printer and work...idk..new sensors and pcboard(under bed) they will send me so hope will fix it.....
Wow, yeah, hopefully that fixes it for you. It's a big headache, for sure.
@Avel but it doesn't fix...I have errors again
The replacement parts didn't fix it, either? If it's still under warranty, I'd ask them to replace the whole printer.
@@Avel hm...it's not ...14 month I have my printer but they have in eu warehouse so I think if eu warehouse I must have 24 months warranty idk..
@@Avel I had not problems just last time this...and it's sensors so if replace sensors will work if sensors are bad lol...why u saying it not fix ?
Sold. you helping fix the orbit settings and the zoom. You have changed my life. I submit to your religion, where's the kool-aid. Take me to Van Halen or whatever.
😆
I ended up getting a K1C from the same seller basically brand new, watching your video made me take the leap and do it, definitely made the right choice
Nice! Glad it worked out!
Thank you for this. Do you have to take into account the thickness of the string into account when using this?
Nope, doesn't matter. The string is basically just used as a straight edge between the 1st fret and the 17th (or whatever fret meets the body on your guitar.). It makes more sense visually, but you're basically measuring from the bottom of the string, that's why you zero it on top and push the string down to the fret. The distance between the bottom of the string to the top of the 7th fret is the distance you're calculating. I hope that makes sense!
Perfect tutorial. I'm a Fusion 360 beginner and I followed it perfectly.
Glad to hear that! Thanks for watching and commenting 😁
Great knobs
Personally I think it is best for any newbie to learn FreeCAD. Yes it is t as powerful, but is getting more and more polished and nobody is going to pull the rug from under you taking away a free version.
I appreciate you watching and commenting! Definitely going to checkout FreeCAD soon.
@@Avel lots of tutorials here on YT.
Is it possible to do all this in Fusion?
You would have to import the GoPro model and build around it. It's possible, but not quite as quick/easy.
pretty awesome, nicely done
Thank you for the amazing videos-you're saving me every time! 😊 Is there a way to configure the fan so it stays off when not printing, runs at 20% for the first 1.5 hours of printing, and then switches to 100% after 1.5 hours? The noise in standby is a bit much. Thanks in advance! 🙏
What app are you using on your phone to control klipper
Google Chrome. But any browser should work, you just put the IP address in like you would on a computer/laptop.
On every video for the sovol i see so many comments "trying to fix this" did you have this issue?? Blah blah. Glad ive done some research. Ill get something else
I use uv resin to make jewellery, if it's still tacky after 20mins, get a better brand. Spend the money, it's def worth it.
Thanks for the heads up! I also needed a better light. I've since upgraded.
Nice little project. I've lost count of how many of these little kits I have. Maybe a dozen. I picked some up dirt cheap and got a bunch as gifts. The problem I have is that I don't need them. Over the close to half century I have been modeling and doing my hobbies I have found I only ever use #11 blades and a basic pencil type handle. Perhaps it is because I picked up 10,000 (yes, 10 THOUSAND) blades from tower hobbies back in the early 90's when they had 1000 packs on for $9.99 and I just got used to them but I have a bunch of others that I literally never use and likely never will.
10k??? Sheesh! I appreciate you sharing. I figured for $3 it wasn't a bad deal. I paid more than that for one with a single blade several years back and still use it every once in a while, even though the blade is as dull as a butter knife, haha.
@@Avel When the end of the world comes seek out my place. It'll be the last best place to get your blades. lol
Nice. I wonder how much filament it would use if you didnt hollow out the back. Sometimes less surface area more solid volume takes less filament and less time to print. 🤷
Good point, I'll have to test that out sometime!
Another nice project! I very much appreciate that you use the metric system!
I appreciate you watching and commenting!
I'm a European who moved to the USA about 20 years ago. I grew up with the metric system and am still struggling hard with the imperial system. I'm an amateur woodworker and have to measure and do length calculations very often. I see a ton of content creators on UA-cam from all over the world who apparently target the American audience and convert all their work to imperial in their videos. The imperial system is not at all being used in their country and they didn't grow up with it, but they seem to do everything they can to please the American audience by making it seem that the rest of the world is using imperial too. And then there is you ... an American content creator who is working in metric. Thank you very much!!! Merry Christmas @Avel!
◽STL - www.printables.com/model/1119999 or - www.thingiverse.com/thing:6886790 Merry Christmas, everyone!
One of the anycubic kobra 2 printers I have I got as a customer return for $112 (CAD) shipped to my door. Even if it never worked it was worth it just for parts. it even had the original communications from the owner and support printed off and in the box. the guy's name was Tim and I am 99% certain I stumbled upon his post on reddit about this printer. It was an ongoing issue out of the box with the bed leveling not working. Support suggested things and he tried and after a week nothing got fixed. I had it solved within 10 minutes after I had it all together. it was nothing more than the inductive probe was installed a few mm too high. That was it. I adjusted it and ran the calibration process and it has been perfect ever since. When I posted this on Tim's thread I had a whole bunch of people flaming me saying that they shouldn't even have to do that, which is kind of correct...kind of. There is no way to know what may or may not have happened during shipping and if people were a touch more patient and willing to actually investigate problems I suspect they wouldn't have so many problems. So, is it worth it (to me) to drop $700+ on a new printer simply because I was too lazy to dig a little deeper to figure out was was going on with the one I already have? Not to me it isn't. I can buy a huge amount of filament for the difference. The really funny part to me was that Tim also bought an X1C as a replacement and in his posts he mentioned about how the lidar didn't work right and the Z offset was really finicky causing failed prints leaving him to have to adjust it all the time. He seemed ok with this though which seemed uber hypocritical.
Sorry I missed this comment til now. Not sure why it was hiding from me, but I appreciate the share. Nice score! Definitely worth it to me too, to get a working printer (or anything, really) at a fraction of the cost because it needed something tweaked. I would be all over it. Brand new is a different story - Mainly, if I have to buy something to repair it, that's not happening. I would return it without a second thought. But if I just have to adjust something, I can certainly look past that.
I would try using a Stainless Steel Fine Mesh Colander. would let air in all directions and easier to use then a sock.
Thanks for the suggestions! I'll give it a shot

Looks good. 8 hours is a long time, but then you had a lot of desiccant to dry out. I was using a cheap foil pan in our toaster oven, but I recently decided that maybe that was not the best idea. So, i bought one of those cheap food warmers that supposedly gets up to 275 degrees F. I used a Fluke thermal meter to try and verify that, but I had set it on 212 degrees and it was only measuring 130 degrees F. Still it worked great for drying out the desicccant, but I did not have the amount that you were trying to dry. I only dry a little bit at a time. I did take around 3 or 4 hours though.
I appreciate you sharing! For a short time I used an old microwave (based on someone's comment) hooked up in the garage, and it took only about 10 minutes to dry it all. I used a wider bowl and did it in 2 minute increments and stirred in between. Worked great until the microwave crapped out from a lightning storm.
My K1 max came with a broken door as well. I opted for a 3rd party acrylic replacement. I did print the same hinges that you settled on, but haven't installed them yet. Overall I am happy with my max and K1C printers.
Nice! Yeah, the acrylic is what I'd have gone for too, if they had given me a partial refund. Thanks for checking out the video and commenting!
This error caused quite the headache. I looked around and couldn't find any solution to this, so I decided to investigate on my own. Doing this worked for me, and hopefully it works for some of you facing this error too!
for me ..nothing work .......input shaping, level bed or print always 2521 :( and same...... tried unplug plug didnt helped :(
I love the door hinges. Did you design them?
No, I wish I could design something that nice ! haha They are pretty cool, though. All one piece, print in place.
@ That’s cool 😎
Thanks for yout trial. I have my silicar in nylon vegetable bags. It's easy to mothe them from storage to dehydrator and helps them dry faster 🙂 Is your dehidrator equiped with a fan ?
Thanks for watching! Yep, mine has a fan in it. That's a good idea, the mesh bags. I will have to get some!
Unique yet accurate intro 😅 sucks about the door. Could always get a Lexan sheet from home depo and cut out a new one if you chose to keep it.
Over 2 decades bidding on ebay and I've learned the best thing is to find your max total cost, subtract shipping and taxes and what's left is your bid...to the cent. I enter the bid 4 seconds before the auction ends. I'm about 98% successful doing this. The key is that once you put in your bid you do NOT enter another. All you're doing is telling other bidders you want it or you are trying to drive up the price. I got a brand new, in box kywoo3d tycoon for $122 CAD all in, shipped to my door. Parts alone are worth double to me. Brand new kobra 2 for $149. You just have to be willing to wait.
Nice! I appreciate you sharing, and I'll keep that in mind. I don't use eBay as often as I used to. I waited here til the last 5 seconds mostly from trying to talk myself out of it, haha. I was worried about getting something that would cost too much to fix, and be stuck with a brick. I knew I didn't want to spend over $200 before taxes, and took a risk with just $190, thinking "If I get it, great. If not, oh well."
0:48 why can't I find this 😭 also, link to the visualizer website?
The build plate? amzn.to/3CCpM9x
Just search mesh bed visualiser
Why did you mix the cotton in with the thermal grease?
It was unintentional. These are supposed to be "no shed" swabs, but I double-checked before installing to make sure there was no cotton mixed in.
The winner was awarded by those who have no idea of a balanced sound compared to a high-pitched and disembodied sound, plus it does not take into account the rigidity of the yellow plastic..
i purchased a Creality K1 SE 2024 and ended up having "Leveling sensor chip abnormality, sensor damage or environmental impact" so I returned it because it failed after 7 prints. Bought another one and a month later same issue so I returned it. Ended up buying a Bambu Lab and never had an issue again. I dont find Creality to be that great IMO. Yes im new to 3D printing but 2 printers failing for the same reason. I didnt do anything. it ran a bed level for each new print I did so I did not tinker with anything. Could it have been my fault? Possibly since im new to printing
I appreciate you sharing! That sucks about having the same issues on 2 different machines. I know it can be frustrating. Especially on something brand spanking new. Luckily, aside from my CR6-se's deteriorating print quality, I've had good experiences with the Creality printers I've owned and used, so far. (Knock on wood) Bambu makes a great printer, though, so good call moving onto something else!
@@Avel as stated im not sure if i did something wrong or not. I noticed because i was in the middle of a print and the print stopped half way and I saw the error about bed leveling sensors. so after that I returned it to amazon and about a month later same issue. Bedleveling sensor abnormal. I cant tell you for sure why as im really new to printing. there is a 3d printing shop where im from and all his printers are Bambu and 2 couple of my buddies print on Bambu printers so after getting advice and research Bambu seems to be where everyone is at or going. Plus the shop near me sells Bambu parts and PLA, PETG and dozens of colors, carbon fiber and silks. So its a win I can just walk in and get parts or PLA locally.
Why would you even turn it on with all that glass everywhere almost as bad as the packaging 😂
Admittedly, not my brightest move, but I was initially going to return it. I really just wanted to see if it worked. Luckily, it didn't cause any damage.
LOL same sorry. I had to stop the video when you pressed the homing button with all the glass shards inside. Stainless steel has a slightly higher or similar hardness as glass, but if it is zinc coated (very likely), it is much softer. I think the lead screws are also made out of softer material (e.g. brass).
Nice tutorial, however I really do not like this "traditional fusion" knurl design. I usually make my own custom diamond shape profile instead of just using triangle profile coil. This gives you an actual genuine knurl pattern and it's also more grippy.
I know what you mean. There is definitely a difference in feel.
I'd file a complaint with ebay and send it back for the broken door. Listing did not say it was broken, it was their poor packing that did that.
Believe me, I was aggravated enough to send it back, and I was contemplating doing it. There's no excuse for poor packaging, used or not. But it seems it's becoming more common, unfortunately. Once I got the printer running and printing well, my thought process changed from "I'm sending this thing back" to "What if I get another printer that isn't as simple as a nozzle swap to fix?" or ending up with one that is just more run-down, all together. So, I just ended up getting them to replace the door free of charge. If they would have fought me on it, you can bet this thing was going back!
@@Avel glad to hear they replaced the door!
this totally on the seller fault he should have used what creailty do when shipping this printer not just butting foam outside the printer like its some toy
if you look at a new k1c from factory they package the door inside the printer to prevent shattering
I don’t know how much a door cost for this printer. But I bought CR-6SE. They said that the Display screen would stuck when Booting up. I have plenty of Parts for this $150 new machine. I can’t to see what I run to myself. I think it’s either the display of the motherboard. We will see soon. Good luck on you project. 😮
Does the heat resistant tape cause any issue with heating the bed uniformly?
I, personally, haven't had any issues as of yet.

So many views but so few subsribers..
Tell me about it 😆
Tired of not remembering where I put my Boss Katana Go, or putting it somewhere in the way. So, I designed this to hang it. There are two versions available to print, one with the hole and one without. ◼STL - www.printables.com/model/1066726 or - www.thingiverse.com/thing:6824672 Everything I used in this video: ◼ UV Lamp - amzn.to/4fC8w2h ◼ Mica Powder - amzn.to/4fFUgpi ◼ UV Resin - amzn.to/3YY1kbv ◼ Mixing Cups - amzn.to/3YEhaXu ◼Wood Craft Sticks - amzn.to/4elx0vW ◼◼ My stuff! ◼◼ ___________________________________________ ◽CONTACT - Triumphinglosersbusiness@gmail.com ◽Printables - www.printables.com/@Avel ◽Thingiverse - www.thingiverse.com/3deth ◽PATREON! - www.patreon.com/AVEL ◼◼ A list of items I use. "Just got a new computer and could not for the life of me remember how to set up Cura for the Klipper screen. Came right here and you just saved me hours of searching. Thank you for the great info!! 🙌"
Glad to help!
Is there a way to save organic shapes that you create? Or are you forced to recreate them each time?
The projects are saved automatically, so when I make a shape that I know I'm going to use a lot, I just make a duplicate of it and keep it off to the side as the "original". Also, if you want to use it in a different project, you can grab it and click the copy icon at the top left and then paste it into your other project. Hope this helps!
great video, thank you
Thanks for checking it out!
What does measuring the estep do? Just got my machine and need help
If you just got your printer and it's still stock it should be fine (usually). The Esteps in this video are for the extruder, making sure it is pushing the right amount of filament to the hot end. ie. - If you ask for 100mm to be extruded, it should be near exactly 100mm.
fun video i always wondered myself , you could print a mold and then make metal bits. cheers
Did you just use PLA?
Yep. Still using the same one today.
Bit of a suggestion if you ever want to make a functional model, having the cutting edge of the flutes end closer to the centre of the drill bit will help it bite material. Atm when starting there is very little engagment with a cutting edge so it'll struggle a bit to actually bite the material. Sick model and clean print tho!
Awesome, I appreciate the info! And thanks for checking out the video!
