Running All The Tyne
Приєднався 18 бер 2023
Mainly a runner, based in Newcastle Upon Tyne, creating content around my running journey training for marathons, and other events. Hoping to provide some insight and guidance to people who can make some use of it, and give an insight into the training I am doing and the purposes behind it.
Hopefully, I can help motivate some people to realise that running and general exercising can be joyful, and not a pain which has to be suffered.

How I created a 2:49 Marathon Training Plan With no Running Coach
I talk through how I developed and put together my training plan for the Dublin and Florence marathons, in order to run a 2:49 marathon, without using a running coach.
This video gives a breakdown of the types of runs I was including in my plan, and why, as well as how I then structured the plan to a daily basis and the key factors to making sure this plan was converted into a 2:49 marathon.
If you enjoyed this video, I have done videos for each week of my marathon training, which you can also watch on my channel. If you enjoy this sort of content I will be doing the same for future events I participate in, as well as trying to post helpful videos to help people complete their running goals. If this sounds like something you would enjoy, please like my video and subscribe to my channel to see more.

Over the past 14 weeks I have created videos around my training plan and detailing the sessions I did in those 14 weeks, leading up to this marathon. Sub-3 Marathon Training Weeks 11 & 12 | Florence Marathon
Переглядів 409Місяць тому
In this video I detail my return to training for the Florence Marathon after completing the Dublin Marathon, describing the sessions I did and why I did them. With just 4 weeks in between the two marathons, it was important to nail these 2 weeks of training before beginning to taper for Florence, so every session had to be planned out and mileage be reached.

Additionally during the week, I will be doing plyometrics and injury prevention, working on weaker areas such as hips, glutes and kn...

Sub-3 Marathon Training Week 8 | Dublin Marathon & Florence Marathon | Peak Training Week

In week 8 of my training for the Dublin and Florence marathons, I had my peak mileage week of training before Dublin. This means this was the final week before my taper begins, so I covered the most km's in any week of my training plan, totalling 150km. In this video I run through these runs, how they went and why I did them, and how my body was feeling after them. If you enjoyed this video, co...

Sub-3 Marathon Training Week 7 | Dublin Marathon & Florence Marathon | Tips for Hills in Races

In Week 7 of my marathon training plan for the Dublin and Florence marathons, my week was very different from any other week in the plan so far. Having been sick over the weekend and pushing through it, I took a couple of days off, so I altered my workouts during this week. 116km of training with a speed session and a strong long run with 25km of marathon pace was still a good outcome, and in t...

Running Strength, Injury Prevention and Core Workouts
Oh awesome. I will have to check those out and see how they work for me. Thanks for the tips and making it easier for us runners without the funds for a coach!!
@@sldorse42 it’s all about working it around your own schedule, the videos will just give an idea how I laid it all out and set days for different runs
Great video man! Would you be open to posting your running schedule so we could see how you structured it? Would love to try and mimic it for my sub 3 hour plan for next year! Awesome work
Thanks! You wouldn’t need to run as much as I did for sub-3 but I did training videos on my channel broken down by each day, that explain why I’m doing each run as well so that might help you! But I’d say to structure it around what days work for you best for different sessions so you always hit the important ones
great vid, ran malaga marathon last week and managed a PB thanks to your training vids and advice!
Ah that’s savage, I’m delighted hearing that! All testament to the work you put in yourself over your plan!
Great stuff mate enjoying the channel. Taking some tips from this video.
Thanks Gary appreciate that! Hope you’re enjoying your running!
Brilliant time, cracking video! I have ran it twice and agree with having to keep an eye on the cobbles!!
Thank you! Is it a local one for you or did you just enjoy it enough to go back? I think the only thing that would make me hesitate to go back are the cobblestones
@@RunningAllTheTyne, I am from the West of Scotland so not a local race to me! Loved the city and the race apart form the cobbles and GPS struggles to cope with the City centre and gets a bit erratic!
Awesome video. Always tricky to run on cobblestones
Thank you!
Great video! I've heard for a number of times about this marathon but always wondering what the course was. Florence is a relatively small city, especially in the center. Plus, that pavement will make your knee hurt. Anyway, cool review of your running journey.
Thanks! It was a nice place to run, from the city to the park at the start and then across the bridge to the other side of town, before going out of the city to the football stadium and then back to the city centre so you get to see a bit of everything!
That was brilliant Conor, I don’t know how you finished it with your hip problem, sheer determination as usual. Also a nice way to see Florence, you should be very proud of yourself, I certainly am 🥰
Ken Barlowwwwwww!
@@christianetowers241 go on my son!!
Class man. Well done. Great time.
Thanks!
great vid. how long (time wise) should the easy runs be for them to be benefical?
Thanks! Depends really how much you already run, but my advice is try be hitting at least an hour on an easy run, more if you can. However, if you find your form is deteriorating, stop. At that point you’re just risking injury, means you need to build up to doing more
Great video. Well done on the PB
Thanks!
Well done🙏💪 and u do the right things at the start! Be so calm and focus! I hope for more success for u in 2025! Keep going on!
Thanks!
Just watched this vid. Well done, that's great running. 👌
Thanks!
Congratulations i was running beside you the whole up phoenix park,, Congratulations
Ah deadly, how did you get on?
Congrats on your PB and loved the video you got. Glad you were able to work through a side stitch like that and make it to the finish line. That last 5K is always a battle. Looks like the weather was agreeable too.
Thanks! Yeah the weather was pretty much ideal, definitely conducive to PB’s all round!
Congrats, what a run! 🎉 I did mine in 4:46, first marathon, delighted. Just curious - what camera do you use on your head?
Thanks, congratulations on your time also! It’s a GoPro
Great Video and effort man. Enjoyed that
Thanks!
Just of interest what is your average pace per km over a 10km run? Im more like a 4 hour marathon runner but want to improve but knowing your marathon pb it would help me get an idea of how slow in terms of pace my own Z2 run should be
@@zmiru my most recent 10k was 36:16 but I wasn’t at full fitness so hard to tell. For your own pace, if you’re running by heart rate I would recommend a newer one (you can always buy second hand) than yours if it won’t stay connected. If you’re going by pace, I would say aim for 90 seconds - 2 mins slower than MP. If you can speak in full sentences, you’re running easily enough
@@RunningAllTheTyne Hi Thanks for the reply. Last question...so say my marathon pace was 5.30/km. Then my Zone 2 run should be 7.00/km or 7.30/km, roughly speaking. I just find that so slow that I can hardly do it. Do you find that yourself with your own Zone 2 runs. Do you find them incredibly slow and unnatural?
@ it would kind of depend on how accurate that marathon pace is, if you’re struggling to be able to go at a certain pace, you should try judge it by whether you can speak in full sentences, see how that works for you? It can be hard to slow down and feels very slow usually
Nice vid! I have a garmin hr monitor. It’s old and doesn’t seem to get a consistent connection. Have these hr straps improved in the last 10 years?
Fair play! I was cheering you on in Terenure! And even more incredible running with a gopro on your head ha
@@htdtr haha thanks, the crowd support was great, well done for playing your part!
Great run breaking 3, well done, I broke 3.30 in DCM back when I used to suffer with a stitch.
Well done, super time! I’m plagued with side/diaphragm stitches around 30k too. Need to figure it out :)
Thanks! I reckon it’s taking too much fuel and water in a short amount of time, probably need to be doing the same in training to get used to it!
Well done ,super running & great info !
Thanks!
Thanks for the video! I was supporting my husband for his 3rd marathon. Now I want to run my first marathon, in a few years possibly...
Thanks, I hope he enjoyed it and got the result he was looking for! If you want to do one you should go for it, give yourself time to build it up and you’ll be fine!
brilliant run, its nearly 20 years since i ran my last marathon. Its amazing how the science of running has advanced in those years. Very tempted as a experiment to do it next year.
Go for it mate!

Savage running. I came in at 4.26, delighted with myself.
@@joewhelan5922 congratulations, you should be delighted! I have massive respect for the people out there for 4+ hours. Hope you managed to get in before it started lashing!
@RunningAllTheTyne Cheers pal!
All good tips. Those gels sound like rocket fuel.
50g of carbs in each, 3 got me through the whole thing (not by choice, just couldn’t get another in!)
You’re form looks great at the end. You look in cruise control. I was at 35k mark and remember seeing you then. You looked in total control.
Thanks mate, that’s mad you remember seeing me! It probably looked alright cos I had to slow down by 30 second per km to keep the stitch from stopping me. The legs were fine for the most part!
You're easy to remember. The lad with the go pro on his head. I was standing on the right hand side of the road just after the elite drinks station at 35K. You'll see me on your footage. It was a great spot to cheer people on. I knew about 200 runners running Sunday and 90% smashed it. I'm off to Valencia in just over four weeks then Boston in April and if I can hold form like you with 12k to go I'll be a happy man.
@@jameskillilea1983 haha that’s a good point, it was ideal weather for everyone to smash their goals really, amazing most of the people you know did it! Good luck with Valencia, what’s your goal? And enjoy Boston! That’s on my list

@@collie90 thanks! Congratulations on your time as well!
