Your reactions are not surprising.” This shows the difference between someone with emotions and without, Data, with no emotions can clearly understand he might lash out when faced with an semblance of truth that might not sit well, instead of feeling hurt because his friend lashed out, or got angry just because he was trying to help, he expected such an action and thus wasn’t phased by it, if only emotional creatures such as us could have this level of forward thinking. This is one of the most powerful lines here, even if it isn’t just related to their friendship.
