It blows my mind that he glossed over the Solemn Vow. Also the use case of the syringe gun unlocks isn’t to kill enemies, it’s to boost your survivability while you escape back to your team. The Blutsauger and Overdose accomplish this. He suggests that those unlocks fail at their use-case, but that’s false. What makes them obsolete is that the crossbow exists. All these clips of him running into the enemy team up in a Soldier’s face trying to syringe him makes me not want to like this video :/

Some critiques on the Medic vs Spy match up as some who mostly mains Spy/Engineer, as you appeared to see it from the angle of an experienced Spy 1. Trick Stabs are not nearly as important as you made them out to be, a good spy really only does them occasionally as they know its a 1 trick pony situation 2. A good Spy doesn't go to the same spot to backstab over and over again, this is often referred to as a "Spy Cycle" and is actually discouraged as it as you basically said yourself, makes you predicatable 3. You forgot to mention a few of spy's revolvers and how they do change the match up. Some Spy's use the Enforcer which can directly counter a Medic's Vaccinator with its ability to pierce damage resistances and you'll often see a Good spy running it if they realize the medic(s) have a Vaccinator, it also I think can 2 shot a medic if the Spy shots while cloaked, so often times you gotta be careful of who your healing as a Spy will try and trick you into healing them, then they pull out the enforcer and hit you with 2-3 shots to down you 4. Do not engage with a Spy at mid range if your a Medic, a Good Spy often remembers they have a Gun and will more often than not opt to shoot a lone medic at mid range, Revolvers are Hitscan and the Crossbow is a Projectile, at mid range a Spy who can hit their shots consistently, and if they do use the Enforcer they can and will counter your Vaccinator Uber as well

New Medigun Idea is what I can give you. Uber have 2 Charges (50% to pop one) and last 5 seconds, When Uber with this Gun The Medic basically does a better Counch Buff as AOE Healing like the Amputator but you Moving, Medic target with the Beam Gains the Health on hit (50%) and both Medic and the Target (including Scout) move 20% faster. Medic also have 25 more HP. Downsides, well with this Medic Gun you loss Crit Healing, Don't Build Uber Faster on injure player, and gain less Uber from alternate of healing/gaining Uber. (What this Means is the Meta Picks are less effective when paired up this Medigun, Ubersaw only gives 15% on hit which is still Good but less and the Uber you get from the Crossbow is not that important, and the Amputator also less effective too) This Medigun is not trying to become the Meta but Give Medic some new form of Healing as if he's going be the Main Healer then maybe give him a Kit of not overpower, but unique ways of supporting his team. Also if I was going to nerf Medic Uber Gain rate he needed a Passive upside and more HP was better then more health regeneration or a defensive buff, hey you can't be quick scope now but there no fast way of building Uber, good thing 1 only cost 50%.

Medic Primary and melee weapons definitely require some refinement. But I am gonna drop a hard truth bomb. If you ever want to balance medic out it won't matter what you do to his other weapons but the Crusaders Crossbow and the Ubersaw must get nerfed in order for it to have any effect. That would be step number 1 and it should always be step number 1. Nerf before you Buff lest you end up like Overwatch. The Nerf: Crusaders Crossbow: Drop the healing from 75-150 health down to 25-100 health. Just reducing the healing amount by a flat 50 HP this weapon no becomes no longer a must have but rather a tool for versatility. The reason the Crossbow is the King is because it allows you to perform your primary task better. Even better than using the Quickfix while having no tradeoff. The Crossbow simply is to strong and as long as the healing remains untouched it will always be the best Primary for medic. You could even combine all Syringe guns and get rid of the downsides and they would still pale in comparison. The Ubersaw: -30% swingspeed making it a bit more noticeable and harder to get the 2nd swing in. -25% Ubercharge duration. Having less effective Ubers will serve as a great foil for this weapon. In many cases you can Question if you even need the full Ubercharge duration were in other cases every second of Ubercharge will count and you have to question if you even get enough use out of this weapon, to make that trade.

The vac is fine as it is. I don't use macros so I don't feel like I have to be punished cause others do. The sounds of the gun are very cool as well. You think it's fun for a medic to be getting killed by a spy or everyone in casuals? The vac is the med's way to get revenge...AT LEAST offer alternative ideas when you ask for changes...you video is like asking for a nerf to the weapon. Medics deserve to bust your balls too...not exclusive to dmg classes. Good video and tips nonetheless, cheers!

what i would’ve given him, if I were in charge, is to give him a primary weapon that could hold itself in battle, but tie it directly to his medigun. Basically it would take how much you heal other players and convert that to either power or ammo for your primary gun, so that people who want to fight still need to heal their team, and those who strictly want to heal can defend themselves if caught in a sticky situation. Maybe it’d have a drawback, like slowing your übercharge for a limited time.

What I really love about playing medic is that it could make my depression episodes worse

all i want for medic is a medi GUN. something reminiscent of Lucio the only well designed character in overwatch. aoe low healing output but you can deal damage at the same time. the uber would be a simple speed boost and nothing else. it would have a fast charge rate bcz it’s arguably not as impactful as something like crits or 75% damage resistance to anything you choose. a simple speed boost for you and anyone in close proximity but you can still have your low aoe healing active and you can deal damage. i would absolutely love if something like this were in the game bcz it would be so much fun.

i never really liked the vaccinator, given the micro decision stress it entails and only saw it with pockets, forcing 2v1s most of the time. Like, yeah given the braindead damage output of sollies and demos (and scouts too imo), one bubble is more than enough time to win - i mean if you're so bad you can't win automatically in these 2v1 encounters you are focing *cough, cough* - but as someone who actually likes shielding characteres / enchanters, i think the 90% resistance ubers are way too strong - batallions only gives 30, brab/natasha/ splendid 20, - Targe and Dangershield 50% vs fire at least. I'd much rather have it work like shield spells in mobas: a) a cooldown time between multiple pops on the same player but keep the 3-4 charges b) more incorperation of some overheal at cost of less resistances when ubered, cause it's temporary damage resistance to all damage types. See above for normal, balanced resistances in the other items working with the same % resistances on top of full stock overheal. c) to discourage pocketing and i'd argue for a bonus build rate when crit healing - an underused mechanic anyway. Maybe increase uber gain when the correct damage type is being resisted to in combat, like it used to be? -> either still encourages to get in there, rewards more defensive buffs to not one pocket, but many teammates in the long run. offense encouragement rather than quickfix's ground holding and fortifying gameplay loop or keeps just flatout the streamlined medic playstyle with beaming at the front line. d) more risk to the medic, since he too has too much defensive buffs with current vac. I'd argue, like in the moba, you either shield yourself or a teammate, not both at the same time. But that needs another bind / selection so maybe NO shield for med, making it defensively as good as kritz to the med popping . About the crit resistance, i dunno. Kinda wanna keep it, but with dmg resistance alone, i survived plenty of crockets with my slow as hecc brass beast. To counter kritz, stock already exists. what do you think?

Bit late on my end but the amount of people defending the amputator is wild to me. Like most situations people call it great in just never seem to be that common in the game itself. It can heal the whole team sure, but if it’s in a fight you aren’t ubering, and you are stuck in place, and it’s not like the fight only takes place in your taunt radius either. If you have just won a fight or are retreating you should probably be building Uber, not taunting people. The most common time id find it to be useful is to save yourself after taking a bleed/fire dot and retreating. It does the job in its niche well, but that niche is rare to truly take advantage of compared to even the ubersaw. From my time playing medic the things I don’t enjoy about him is that being the only consistent healer means you are pretty much only allowed to be a healer, and along with how important uber is, it makes for somewhat stifling gameplay where you can only heal, putting you at the mercy of whatever matchmaking throws your way, since you have no real way to defend yourself. Most other games have other options for healing or allow for the medic/healer to be useful in other ways such as buffing or crowd control so the character isn’t as one note which the medic largely lacks since it’s mostly behind Uber, although still there.The syringe guns are too inconsistent to really count all that much as self defense which leaves the crossbow as the best option since it can support and defend. I do think the overdose is close enough to a side grade though or at least closer to the crossbow than any melee is to the ubersaw the speed is useful for escaping fights or bad situations but still isn’t as helpful as healing a soldier across the map.
