How wrestlers should approach strength and conditioning in the gym.
Many wrestlers tend to prioritize conditioning over strength. My take is to do both. Strength train while in the gym and conditioning from practices.

The Deadlift
Переглядів 1013 роки тому
Here’s how to do a conventional barbell deadlift: Step up to and under a barbell with your feet angled slightly outward, at hip-width apart. Bend over and grip the barbell with both hands at shoulder width. Bend your knees until the bar almost touches your shins. With a neutral spine, flex your butt and brace your stomach. Pick the bar up off the ground (It helps to think “press DOWN into the f...
The Squat
Переглядів 693 роки тому
Squatting is a fundamental human movement pattern that involves nearly every muscle in the body. It’s handy for picking stuff off the floor, going to the bathroom, and just hanging out on a traffic cone. Thanks to exercise science, data show that squats are excellent for building strength, power and mobility. Full squats can help counteract many of the chronic musculo-skeletal problems we face ...
PSA Session Bench Press
Переглядів 1133 роки тому
Fundamentals of the Bench Press 1. Grab the bar shoulder width to just outside. Close grip and wide grip are good exercises to use in addition to a standard bench press, but shoulder width to just outside will put you in a strong position. This position will help to protect your shoulders, pecs, and bicep tendons. 2. Squeeze the bar as tight as you can. 3. Position your eyes just underneath the...

Supplements: What to take and When!!
Переглядів 1993 роки тому
A balanced diet and healthful lifestyle that includes enough sleep should be sufficient to give most people the energy that they need for their daily activities. However, as athletes we push our bodies to peak performance, so we need proper supplementation in order to perform at peak performance. Vitamins and supplements can be a safe way for athletes to try to improve their performance. Be sur...

Ice baths also called cold water immersion (CWI) or cryotherapy, the practice of taking a 10 to 15 minute dip in very cold water (50-59°F) after an intense exercise session or competition is believed to help reduce muscle pain and soreness. Great advice.

This might cost you some business, but it's the gods honest truth. Some of these personal trainers charging these poor parents 60-100 an hour with bs promises. There's no one work out or secret drill to turn little urkle into usain bolt 2.0 overnight.
Good stuff coach!
You put out some valuable information and explained everything where it made sense. Keep up the great work. You earned a subscriber today with your content.
🙌🏽🙌🏽
60 seconds of intro music is wild
Great advice. A lot of decisions parents make are for the parents.
Thank you
I use to be really fast then all of sudden i did what this guy did and im just slow. Example i run a 4.9 40 yard dash. But my 100 is 13.42 but again i did get alot stronger
This is your daughter Camille
Get off your mom's phone!! 🤦🏾♂️
i’m a receiver and i run track and lift but i can’t get faster, i’m running the same 40 over and over again
What type of lifts are you doing? How are your sprint mechanics?
Yo litteraly idk i am not getting faster but i am at like 14% percent body fat and got some muscle i have been doing alot of sprints alot of pyometrics daily for the last 3 months but just i am not getting faster at all
And also i am the most mobile in my team
How is your hip mobility? It'd not about the muscle but how well and how fast the muscle moves.
You really explained everything for me. I'm a football player⚽,I love lifting weights too. I became slower but more stronger. I'll include sprints too. I'm a defender💪🏽 a Right Back,so I need pace. And I'll try to reduce my bodyfat percentage. I bulked up a little(fats included). I'll also work my core and albs more
Sprint mechanics and proper sprinting is key.
Nice 🙌🏼💪🏼
My daughter played football and only football. We took your advice and now she loves basketball more and she’s learning a lot and growing. This weekend she starts yet another sport.
💯✊🏾
👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Yea!
Thank you for the great job you do 💪🏼
A lot of parents are still in the old school way of thinking.
I love your training , Im a little older than you but I see you have your kids lifting the bar. Nothing wrong with that at all. Im 66 going on 67. Glad you have an open mind.
Yes sir, with proper technique athletes of all ages can properly train.
@@coachrob5228 The Europeans really gave the americans mess. Back from 1960-1985 we were really doing cross country speed work, example, run a hundred, etc. But in 1989, Lorean Segraves work up the track and field world With speed Dynamics
Run a 100, jog a 100, Run a 200, jog a 50
many people use to believe you would stunt a kids growth
Stress, plays a great part in an athletes performance. there are many kinds; I will list some: Classroom stress, Personal stress, job stress, track workout stress, weight room stress, eating stress.
Relationship stress with a girl friend or boyfriend, stress, Behavior stress, home stress. I see many things.
Their could be many factors.
True indeed however I find that most of the time when I find an athlete who is working hard and not seeing results it's due to the type of training they are doing. What are some other factors you think?
@@coachrob5228 Not understanding periodization, doing aerobic base, Rest. Nutrition.
Stretching also ?? At my club we don't stretch so much..
@@relaxingbeverage7720 not here to be funny but do you do a dynamic warm up?
Hey Rob, great content. Watching from Coquitlam, British Columbia. You need a mic so we can hear you better. I turn up the volume to hear you and get caught off by the intro/outro being at loud.
Thank you. I recently got some better equipment so hopefully better videos coming soon.
@@coachrob5228 checkout the channel called "Garage Strength". I think UA-cam recommended me to you coz I been watching similar stuff. I feel like you've got a similar type of athlete and potential knowledge as from that channel.
Thank you
Ive been running track for a long time but never took it seriously till now but it just seems like I can't get faster no matter what drills and weightlifting I do
That could be for various reasons. We'd have to look at your training regimen to see what's going on.
@@coachrob5228 We mostly do wicket drills and 150's for about 4 days of the week and 2 days to weights

What if im injured but still can lift?
If your injured always train around the injury. For example if you have sprained ankle you can still work core, upper body, unilateral excercises for the legs etc.... if you can get with a Physical therapist to get a rehab program going to fix the injury properly.
I play wide receiver and I’ve been trying to get faster. My legs are way stronger now and I have been working on stride frequency and plyometrics but nothing is helping what should I do?
If your stride frequency is better then you need to work on ground contact time. Also what type of of lifts are you doing? Where do you train?
Them ice baths 😞🥶
Proud of you, love yoy
You
Thanks Boss. 🙏🏾🙏🏾💯
great video
What if I have been doing the gym part running and still not seeing results?
Jonathan are you doing the sprint mechanics? What type of runner are you and what type of running have you been doing?
Good work battle 💪
Thanks Battle!!
Thank you 🙏🏿
Good content for sure
Linemen also participate in the 5 main drills right ?
Yes sir. Those are drills standard for all positions. They will have others specific to each position but those are pretty much standard.
For lineman you can definitely bet they wanna know your bench press, squat, and clean.
Love this Coach!
Thank you. Jus tryna do my part. 🙏🏾

What are your favorite dynamic warmups?
A short jog for 2-5 minutes, High knees, butt kicks, reach and scoop, anything that keeps the athlete moving and body temperature up.
