I put some synthetic car oil in my Yamaha 1200 recently. Only because that is what I had left in the garage. Well after 150 miles; 1. The clutch doesn’t hold, it slips when I really lean into the throttle. 2. The gearbox now has an annoying howl at highway speeds. Just picked up some cheap, but motorcycle specific oil. Will be changed out tomorrow. So yes, I concur - do not put car oil in your motorcycle ; unless perhaps your mb is low power

What nonsense. 5W-30 is supposed to have 6x lower viscosity in winter on a cold engine than on a hot engine at 100°C?

Do you thread the dipstick back in to get a proper measurement of your oil level or do you leave it unthreaded and just place it back down in the hole and then pull it back out

It can be very dangerous to use oil additive as you are doing. I will tell you the truth. In the normal oil, there is an additive package that has been carefully put together by experts after a lot of research. When you add an oil additive, it can often destroy the oil additive that is in the normal oil so it does not work so well. And the two oil additives can start to work against each other and become unstable. This can damage your engine. Too much of a good thing can quickly become a bad thing. I used cooking oil in my enginbe. Nothing happened to it. in fact it fueled it to the sea side . Nice family day out !!!!

Between F and L ? That’s crazy. Full is at F. If the engine uses some oil you can be save at “between” F and L. Just fill it up to F, and a little to much doesn’t hurt your engine. It’s actually realy hard to mess up your engine with to much oil. Couse you need to fill it up all the way. And then you pored Liter to much in it. And that will never happen. As long as there is enough room for the oil to move. Then you never blow up your engine. It’s mostly over reacted. So a little over Full, no problem. Poring another Liter in. Then it’s questionable 🤨.

I don't know about any extra power, but I've tried many oils on my air/oil cooled gsxr, both power 1 and power 1 racing make my gearchanges really slick, so I keep using them.

i use diesel engine oil in my kawasaki with no problem. I do not listen to mechanic.

My car had book mentioned to use 5w40 acea b3/b4 so if i changed to 5w40 acea c3 is there any harm to the engine

What a load of bollocks. Google Castrol vs. Exxon lawsuit where Castrol bastardized the meaning of the word synthetic to apply to highly processed mineral oil. Now you know Castrol doesn’t really use PAO.

I know of an africa twin 1000 that only uses castrol magnatec since warranty expired, done 70000kms and still going strong.

I used car engine oil 5W30 fully synthetic in my scooter, but the performance was reduced, less torque and the vibration was unusual, next day i changed the oil specified for scooter 10W40 Semi-synthetic oil(Shell advance). The vibration was was normal, and the Torque was good.

Honda Express NC50 1979, just got it & I've no idea what petrol, what oil in oil tank & what oil in the gearing/sump. Don't want to get it wrong, any advice please.

I accidentally put way too much engine in my car and then BiG buff of blue smoke and then a loss of power. I pulled over straight away. So iv not driven at lenth like this, but im bricking it now, lol Do I simply need to reduce the oil level, or is this a sign of more damage. Any advice most appreciated. Is there a clear indicator that something else is wrong after this that I should watch/listen out for? Thank you

I tried castrol magnatec on my motorcycle and it caused clutch slippage.

My Toyota Camry oil is gauged and there's no leakage. V4 XLE and I use Mobil 2000 Semi-Synthetic. The oil pump has been changed and it's still bringing the same alert on my dashboard

I did put a bit more than needed. Try to remove it with a syringe and got it stuck in the engine. When I tried to pull the pipe it broke. Was lucky enough to pull it out with a needle nose. Still scared that there are plastic debris inside the engine case.

Have used Castrol oil since 1978. Most of the time GTX. Motorcycle, boat, car, truck. Everything i own. No problems, ever.

When in Halfords the last thing on my mind is which engine oil viscosity I should be looking at… I’m more of a what colour nail varnish I should use next? Hopefully I can find one that matches the carbon fibre dashboard in my M6 competition. Castrol was always my go to until BMW dropped them like a bag of shite and want back to Shell. It’s not possible now to purchase a 5w30 LL04 from Castrol. So over to Shell we went as they produce the grade needed in the Helix Ultra Professional. It’s also in 5 litre bottles unlike Castrol that supply 4 litre bottles. It’s also currently half the price so I bought x4. Invoice was £126 all in inc delivery. Not bad for 20 litres of the finest. Unless Castrol catch up they’re gonna lose a lot of BMW owners that have been loyal to the brand for many a year. My car recommends 5W-30 but i live in the tropics and there is NO need for such low W numbers so i run this 10W-40 and it's really good.

I use castrol power 1 on my honda supra x 125cc , very good for acceleration especially when you have to face a fast paced traffic like here in jakarta where i live
