An ICONIC Legend! Maiden Flight: Flightline Spitfire 1200mm - Stock
Among one of the most recognisable warbirds of all time, the Spitfire has been on my wishlist for some years. I've had smaller ones in the past, including an 1100mm Supermarine Spitfire from Hobbyking and a large 1500mm one from VQ Models, but I always wanted a 1200mm Spitty to match my other 1200mm warbirds. So when this Flightline Spitfire was on sale on eBay, I jumped on it. Beautifully finished and detailed, the FL Spitty doesn't disappoint on looks, but how does it fly? Definitely a lot easier than you might think, this bird took to the sky like a duck to water. My only complaint is that it lacks a bit of power to have some fun with it. If you're happy to fly it "scale" then you won't have this complaint, but for me, much like the Hawker Sea Fury I have from FL, it needs a little extra in reserve.
Hope you enjoy the video and thanks for watching. :)

My Plane Almost SPLIT in 2 Mid-flight!! Maiden & Demo Flights Freewing F-86 Sabre 80mm EDF 6S Jet
Переглядів 1,3 тис.21 день тому
This video is from about 3 years ago. I bought this F-86 off FB Marketplace for a ripper price. It was brand new, assembled, but never flown. I flew this plane quite a number of times and really enjoyed it, but eventually I sold it to a fellow club member a couple of years ago. In this video you'll see me kind of crash it on landing due to one of the main gears not deploying. I made the mistake...
Incredible PERFORMANCE!! Follow-up Review: H. King Viper 64mm EDF 6S Jet

This is my follow-up review of the Viper 64 from Hobbyking. Everything is explained in the video, but essentially I originally reviewed the Viper 64 with the landing gear on and didn't get around to flying it with the gear off until after that review was live. As it turns out, the plane is quite different without the landing gear and I felt a follow-up review was warranted. Hope you enjoyed the...

In this video I take the XFly Swift 2100mm glider for a spin in some calm weather and show some of its capabilities. Stay tuned for more on the Swift in the future and than...

    Loving your landings. Question - does the timer just work on seconds or estimate a time based on throttle settings? GA aircraft have a rule of landing gear up on anything that isn't a runway or road. Less chance of injury.

    • @aussiercairspace
      @aussiercairspace 20 днів тому

      Thank you. 😎 I run a throttle timer and any throttle input above 10% will start the timer. When I'm at idle, it pauses. I also run a second timer simultaneously, but it's a stopwatch and this one doesn't pause when I go to idle. This one is my total flight time. It's especially useful for some of my gliders or wings that can fly around without throttle for minutes at a time. So even though I have 4 or 5min set on my throttle, I can sometimes get double that or more in flight time. Hope that makes sense. 😊

    I flew mine today for the first time. Flew well, then I did a nice landing and the shaft for the nose wheel bent. So I'm going to remove the U/C and hand launch. I'll glue a couple of bits of sandpaper to the top of the fuselage for grip and get the servo covers. Thanks for the tip.

      That's unfortunate. I can't say I've had any rough landings with mine, so I haven't really tested the durability of the landing gear. However, I have seen footage of others doing some pretty bad landings and on rough terrain with little to no damage, so I'm hoping yours was just a fluke. In any case, once you fly it without the gear, I doubt you'll ever put it back on. 😉

    • @aussiercairspace
      @aussiercairspace 21 день тому

      There's really no major issues with it at all. If it was glued together properly, this would never have happened, and the gear not dropping was only because grass had jammed it on take off, which is no fault of the plane. I really like this plane and aside from being an older model that isn't as easy to put together or as well thought out as the more modern FW models, there's nothing wrong with the F-86 Sabre.

    I got my Viper in last week and it flys great with easy handling but its slow. I have 4 of the Zee 2200 packs and I am only pulling 37amps, and with a brand new ( 2 flights) SMC HV 2800, 4.35v pack I am only pulling 39 amps and around 85mph, which is overall lower than what you were getting at the beginning of your testing. Did you ever figure out why you had a increase in power? Thanks

    • @aussiercairspace
      @aussiercairspace 22 дні тому

      No, the increased power remains a mystery... But it's very interesting that you seem to have the same issue I had. There is one thing that shouldn't make any difference whatsoever but if you can be bothered, give it a try. Because I swapped ESCs and then plugged the original ESC back in, it's possible that I may have plugged the 3 wires from ESC into the EDF in a different sequence. If you're up for it, try swapping the wires around and run the test again. Make sure you calibrate the ESC again when you do this and see if the results change.

    • @Blademan01
      @Blademan01 21 день тому

      @@aussiercairspace Thanks for your reply. While checking it out yesterday, I figured it would recalibrate the ESC first before trying to unplug the motors wires as you suggested, then I realized it will not actually go into the calibration mode with the stick in the full up position. It will only give me the standard tones for arming, 6 beeps for the cell count the high low. I had other club members also take a look at it yesterday, and it was a no go, I will have to contact HK. However, it was recommended I try and go into the servo travel menu on the transmitter and increase the servo travel to 150% , and I did, and I got 2 more amps out of it to now 39amps.

    ''I'm not big on gliders"... I think you are flying them wrong. IMO Gliders are most fun when there is a relatively non-turbulent medium-high wind. Since you can literally Glide the wind in both directions. Either into it, making it a cool hover challenge or climb up and then glider the wind slope down, achieving immense speeds (with no throttle) to then bleed it into loops, rolls and when you are at low energy, time to activate the engine to go back glide the wind slope once more. So much fun.

    • @aussiercairspace
      @aussiercairspace 27 днів тому

      I don't think I'm flying it wrong at all, and to say that is very narrow-minded. What you CAN say is that there are various ways to fly them depending on the conditions at hand, the capabilities of the glider and your flying style. This video demonstrates one of those ways. On this day, there was no wind, so even if I wanted to thermal this glider, it would be impossible due to its weight, my location and weather conditions. Yes, this is a large glider capable of flying for long periods without power, and I know this because I've done it. Flying it like I did in this video will offer about 7-8min of flight, but I've had one flight in the wind that lasted about 20min straight on a the same 2200mah 4S. I actually have another video of the Swift lined up for upload where I'm flying it in some pretty strong winds and you can easily see how flight times can go from 7-8min to 20min+. Now, I didn't fly it for that long in that video as it would've been a bit boring to see me hover the plane 2-300mm up for 20min, but the evidence is there to validate the possibility. 🙂

      I haven't flown a Timber Evo, but I do have a Timber X, which is nuts for aerobic maneuvers. As for the Tundra, I've put maybe 50+ flights through it on 4S so far and not a single problem to report. I think the power system and prop combo they've chosen for this plane is spot on. I have a friend who has a Tundra V2 and he's installed the same prop on his to run it on 4S and he's also not had any issues. The ESC will be fine, I see no reason to upgrade at this stage. Thanks heaps for stopping by and nice to see you're into planes also. 😎🤙

    Hey! That glider has a prop! 😋😋 Actually, I have never seen anyone flying an RC glider. Thank you for sharing! Would a glider be appropriate for a beginner as it can fly so slowly? Or is it more difficult to control than a regular trainer/beginner plane?

    • @aussiercairspace

      Yes, this will suit a beginner for sure. Of course, I would still recommend some stick time on a simulator prior to flying the Swift or help from an instructor if this is your first plane, but you can definitely use this plane as a training platform.

    That's nice and quick but..... For a 1.2m model that does not look like its going anywhere near 200mph! Many years in dynamic soaring, F3F racing, observing power Pylon racers and using Speed guns on models of many different types and sizes suggest that that is doing what it's supposed to, a max of about 140. Radar guns are not that inaccurate, maybe 1mph at 100. But more importantly they rely on a reflection. With models if they don[t get a good reflection they "under-read" so you will not get an over reading that suggests you were faster than you were. Those Skyrc units have a long and searchable history of inaccuracy in a percentage of units. With many over-reading by considerable amounts. Here's a video of E2k racers on course. They are averaging 100mph over the course with turns and hard pulls. ua-cam.com/video/tJJQPm9W8EE/v-deo.html Here is Andy Ellison with his F5E model which is very much larger giving a display. Much of the flight is gliding but you can see the speed achieved momentarily under power. That would be approx 200mph. ua-cam.com/video/59V9ICM75co/v-deo.htmlsi=JsVzRM3SygsLLUc4 To be clear I'm not trying to put a downer on you at all, and I'm not being a fun-vampire! But just saying that does not look like the speeds mentioned.

    • @aussiercairspace
      @aussiercairspace Місяць тому

      The GoPro and distance from camera can skew the prospective of speed in these videos. I've done many more passes since this video and although I haven't beaten 319kph yet, I've made several passes at over 300kph and I can tell you, the plane is definitely going that fast. 😊

    • @alexmcmeekin2658
      @alexmcmeekin2658 27 днів тому

      @@aussiercairspace Here is a much bigger model(more than twice the span) flying further way from the camera which is a similar if not wider field of view. Both those aspects will make it's speed "appear" slower. Yet you can clearly see on the passes at 200mph(325kph) how very much quicker it is. You're flying with a GPS unit known for inaccuracy and believing it without backing it up any other way. What are you flying on? Are you using the stock prop? Are you using a 4S or 6S pack? If you're using a 6S pack how are you magically producing a massive 40% gain over any other V1200 out there? ua-cam.com/video/cd-N99WizVE/v-deo.html

    Those perforated panels on the plane.....Are those what your mate referred to as air brakes? Why not just use less power to fly slower??

    • @aussiercairspace
      @aussiercairspace Місяць тому

      Physics, I guess. Using less power means less thrust and less lift. The "air brakes" I think were installed for indoor flying and their purpose is to create drag while you maintain lift, thus slowing the plane down. I think removing them will result in a faster flight and slowing down will only be possible once in a high alpha. Maybe... That's my theory, anyway. I could be totally wrong. LoL.

    • @aussiercairspace
      @aussiercairspace Місяць тому

      It's actually written in the manual that Flashing Light means Lock Mode and solid red is Stability Mode. I show this in the video, how did I get it wrong? Unless they changed their programming, I did not get that wrong. Yeah, you can fly it on 3S, but you'd need a bigger battery or add a heap more nose weight. I didn't mention this as it's not what the vast majority of people will do with this wing, but if it works for you, then that's great. Maybe I'll do a follow up in the future and I might even try to fly it on 3S to show the difference. 😎🤙

    • @aussiercairspace
      @aussiercairspace Місяць тому

      There's probably 20 other wings on the market suitable for FPV, I don't see why anyone would try to FPV this wing. I, myself, have flown a few wings and planes in FPV, but you gotta pick you battles to suit your flying style. This wing's style and power system is meant for LOS flying and although you could probably hack up the canopy and whatever other foam you need to fit all your gear, there are heaps of the other options out there better suited to accommodate that style of flying. And they would be far more efficient, I'm sure. 🙂

      I know there are better purpose-built wings out there I was more refereeing to the fact that this wing is quite fast and really silent in flight compared to the prop ones just a shame about the power draw.

      I have setup 2 of these wings without any issues at all using the stock gyro, so I don't know why you would only have 1mm of movement on your elevons, that's really weird. Is it the same issue with the gyro off? Have you checked your travel/end points, are they maxed out? I would've recommend using a different gyro for this wing as it is quite unique and it would either require a lot of tuning to get right or it simply just not work. It's up to you. Good luck and thanks for stopping by. 🙂
