We are a family of eight that love to be outside. We enjoy being in our garden and camping in the great outdoors. Eating fresh non spray produce has been a priority for our family and we decided to make a UA-cam channel to potentially help others grow a garden for their family. This is our journey on the different ways we experiment with our garden.

Thanks for sharing your idea. I've heard that Flex Tape does not hold up well over time. A lot of videos showed people using it to patch holes in vinyl pool floating devices only to have it fail shortly afterwards. A better and more permanent solution is to buy some HH66 vinyl cement (at least 32 ounces) and some marine grade vinyl. I used it on my cover and it held tenanciously for years! I have to do it again only because the vinyl ripped when the cover blew off of the hot tub during a hurricane. (The glue did not come apart). By the way, you do not need to use the HH66 brand vinyl - marine vinyl is less expensive and works great! Good luck!
it wont matter that the square is short for the top cut, just the bottom, since thats what the boards going to be resting on. totally doesn't matter but i felt like the comment helps your alg
My question is not about the first year of use, but asking about a year and a half later when only using it a couple of times a year. Battery stuff seems to not do well when not used that much. Has anyone been there that long and only used it 2 or 3 times a year? How did the batteries hold up then? That was when they stopped working for me and had to buy new batteries which were very expensive.
I used it again to prep the beds for all my spring veggies and it worked just fine.
Make sure you put lots of dents in the foam with your knees.
Thanks for the advice.
After 1 year how is it performing?
Where is this farm? I need to buy pigs. I didnt see an address on your home page.
We live in southwest Idaho. Are you in the area?
Thank you, no. I am far east in ky. I can get pigs here. I have to fence first.
6 kids here too with a mix of boarders and skiiers, and this rack is today's project! Thanks for the detailed video!!
Glad you were able to find this video useful, and hope yours turn out great!
How/where do you market your hogs? I am in Texas so I don't think I would be a competitor to you. I have mostly been posting on local web pages, which has been a little effective but I need to sell more piglets because I have an active bore!
I usually list them on Craigslist. But a lot of them are sold to repeat customers. Thanks for watching!
Great idea. Thanks so much for sharing it. The only thing I’ll probably gonna make a template and use a router. Again thanks 👊.
If I was going to make a few of them I would have made a template as well. Thanks for the comment and pray for snow!
You should try feeding them hay. I had a couple feeder pigs, which I started out on some pig feed, and once they got bigger I fed them primarily hay(which they went nuts over), some whole corn and some kitchen scraps. Those pigs became monsters that could jump a 4' fence! They were very tall, long and BIG.
I do feed them hay with grain everyday and it seems to work great. Thanks for the comment!
That looks yummy
That looks gummy
😂
I think there great pigs we process three a few months ago 11 months old they were all 200 lb one was 5 under one was like 6 over we just picked up more
How big are the litters?
Just about every time they have 8 piglets.
@@palomafarmlandscape7859 Thanks. Going to pick some of those pretty soon along with Katahdin sheep. I finally learned how to dry cure pork. Opened a whole set of new options for me.
@@richardhawkins2248 Nice, the more skills you know the more opportunities you have. On to some new adventures!
6 daughters!!! Man I don’t envy you when they become teenagers!
5 out of the 6 are teenagers and its amazing!
Would they do well in northern Maine
Here in Idaho they do very well. The winters rarely get lower than 0 degrees F. If you give them straw and a place to get out of the wind I bet they would do fine.
What is the difference between rototilling and cultivating?
Tilling is trying to go as deep as you can 6-8 inches, cultivating is only doing 2-3 inches. We use this just to mix in the soil amendments and get the top ready for our seeder. Hope that helps.
Thanks!!! We love it in the truck bed!
That's a great idea, instead of sliding allover the place!
Just so you know you can just turn your square around and it will mark a perfect 45 every time. In fact 90 and 45 are the only angles it does without using the protractor. Either way love the design simple and elegant.
Thanks for the tip! Glad you enjoyed it.
Hey, how did the Flex Tape hold up?
Went to put the cover back on tonight after a nice relaxing time in the tub and it fell apart. I think I need to buy a new cover.
Ugh. I was hopeful reading this as my cover split this week Thanks for the video it was really helpful and well done I still may try the flex tape…
@@drjimmy2112 I know, now I need to either get that one repaired or buy another one.
Just built this using your method. Took no time. Looks awesome!
I am sure loving mine. Thanks for the feedback! Have a good time shredding the slopes!
Thanks man!
You're welcome!
How’s the flex tape holding up? I see it’s been almost a year since your post
It is holding but the sun has really faded and cracked the outside layer. I think this winter it will need to be redone or will need to buy another cover.
how do you fold your lid for access?
I fold it over the bar of the easy lift. You can see it up in the air at the back of the hot tub.
Nice
Potbelly ?
no they are not a pot belly. A heritage breed of pig.
Great video. It appears this is perfect for normal summer weed maintenance in a small garden between rows.
After a season, how do you like it?
I love it. I use it to cultivate all my garden beds and it work great for that. I would never use it as a rototiller on new ground. It isn't strong or heavy enough to do a good job at it.
I love the way you carefully line up 45 degrees using the speed square... ignoring the fact that there is a dedicated 45 degree angle built in.
I'm dyin about this same thing lol
I was waiting for him to say a different degree other than 45 😂
Proved the wife wrong, made some stud jokes, & got the boards on display. Solid video.
You have to have a good laugh while working, makes work not work but a hobby :)
Awesome tutorial! Thanks dude
Thank you! I am working on a 12 board snowboard rack that hooks into my 12 passenger van hitch. I get a lot of double takes!
The way I do it, is I leave my bore in with them. No break outs, everyone's happy lol. Only time I separate is to bring new blood in. Once every 2 years I outsource breeding.
That is what we have also started doing. We just let all of them be together Boars, piglets, all the mommas, and they all seem to do just fine together. I think we try and over think everything and just cause ourselves problems. Thanks for the advice!
@@palomafarmlandscape7859 I've been raising them for about 8 years, never separated! My main male is a big softy when babies are born. It's amazing to watch him worry over the mom, helping clean babies and the way he fusses over his ladies. For the acts of love I see from these hogs, I'll never go back to big, mean, unruly pigs.
@@bigmomma9371 They are such an amazing animal, and each of them have their own personalty. I have 11 piglets right now with more on the way. I have only been doing it for almost 4 years now and learn more and more every year.
Thank you.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Dude. You have six daughters? Props to you for your efforts here, and shredding the gnar with your girls. <3
We were just up on the hill yesterday shredd'n the gnar! Thanks for watching!

Thank you!
Wow! I love that the entire family is involved. Very nice work and BEAUTIFUL family. God bless you!!
Thank you so much! My favorite days are when we are all outside together.
Nice work!
Thank you, it really has helped store all the boards neatly!
Keep us posted on how it holds up. Flex Tape is something we use all over our house, but I had no idea they made a version that wide AND in clear!! Thanks for the info.
So far it is holding really well and shows no signs of not working. We will see when it starts snowing!
It is still holding???? My hot tub cover just broke in two pieces. But I live in a cold climate. Wondering how long it worked?
@@palomafarmlandscape7859 is it still holding up? Did it hold through the winter?
@@michelleburt-realtor1513 It is holding up really well!
@@palomafarmlandscape7859 good to know!!! I just fixed mine this week. Fingers crossed!!! 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻
Great video - clear instructions. I now have a happy Wife and the garage is tidier coming up to the Winter :-)
Awesome, I am so glad you found the video useful! Happy wife equals happy life.
Pigs are OMNIVORES...I realize AG pigs are smaller, but those are u undersized because they are lacking the PROTEIN needed to build mass.
I appreciate your comment. Since that video we have changed how we feed them a little. We do give them some non GMO feed in the mornings but not a whole lot. And we rotate them on our pasture more often so they have plenty of different things to eat. American Guinea Hogs will fatten up to much and a common problem is they cannot reproduce because of obesity.
Thanks for sharing. Do you have any updates on this pasture?
I will make another video tonight showing how well the pasture has done since we have let the pigs graze on it. Words cannot express on how well it is doing!
Awesome all around. Good video.
Thank you! They really are great to raise.
@@palomafarmlandscape7859 Most Welcome...I'm raising Asian Heritage at the moment.
@@shaneroehrig2977 I have not heard of them but will look them up.
@@palomafarmlandscape7859 Potbelly is another name for them.
@@shaneroehrig2977 Ok, I have heard of those. Had a friend in high school that had one as a house pet. It bit my big toenail off one time!
Love the shirt!!!
It is the perfect shirt for me!
How big is your greenhouse? It looks like ours and ours is 30ft x 50ft. I can't wait to get it up and start growing in it. I love how you have the trellis connected, that's so much easier then what we're doing now.
It is 80ft x 24ft. We have to redo ours. We had a couple 80 mph gust come through and completely ripped the top off. I have thought of a better way to do it but waiting until September to do it. I will be making a video of the new and improved plan. Happy planting!
@@palomafarmlandscape7859 Wow, it's a lot bigger then ours. Oh cool, I'd like to see that. We would like to at least get the frame up this fall and then get the plastic up towards the spring for early planting. Thank you 😊
@@lenascountrylife4694 you should check out our other video that shows us building the hoop house!
wow that was cool!
We have 2 of those pigs and other breads and yes they are definitely slow growing. We've had a bore for almost a year and he was able to mate with a pig 3 times his size (different bread), now we have a mix bread piglets, excited to taste the meat. Thanks for sharing :)
We are experiencing the same thing with our boar being three times smaller than our sow. He is around one and she is about three. I sure love having them. I really enjoy the meat!
@@palomafarmlandscape7859 Oh interesting, I guess we're not the only ones. I heard the meat is really good. Can't wait to try it 😋
That's brilliant.
Couldn't live without them now!
NICE!!!!!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Fun!
