Switch has considerable stutter. I’m curious how it is portable.
It runs well.
This comment might be completely irrelevant but Micro Swiss has an amazing upgraded extruder. I use it personally and love it.
happy with that print? Dude...it needs a lot of tuning
Really sega
Oh that's what everyone talking
Thanks for update! Love your VR latest finds! I'm gong to be in town last weekend of October for the Halloween race!
How's that head strap??
She used it for nearly a year then went to the BOBOVR with a battery pack and loves it. It does work with the BOBOVR air circulation facial interface. www.amazon.com/gp/product/B09JNR4Y15/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Do you have issues with the lenses fogging up as well?
We did, but we eventually ordered the BOBOVR active air circulator from Amazon. That helps alot. www.amazon.com/gp/product/B099574TKJ/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
lol
Watching this was almost as bad as having a kid. This should have been 30 seconds at most.
This video is great! Lot's of helpful info. Do you guys still own the Q5s, have you added more?
We still own both Q5s and they get a ton of use. Good little work horse printers. We haven't added any more printers yet.
@@parentalgaming3785 Thanks so much for the reply ! :) Could you recommend any upgrades I should make immediately, extruder, heat block, heatbreak, nozzle - any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Having issues with one of my 2 unites that I can't figure out. Debating purchasing another and don't know if I should. Thanks for your time!
How's it holding up now? I got the same printer, I put the magnetic pei on mine. I found the fixed glass bed to be annoying. That and I can print petg without worrying about damaging my glass bed. I have had a couple issues with mine, I have had the extruder start to fail(kept slipping filament) had the case fan bearing go bad, the 4010 parts fan failed, power switch is going bad. Now none of them are expensive to fix. I modified mine with Marlin firmware (got a tiny bee mainboard coming) 5015 parts fan,bmg extruder, bi-metal heatbreak(for an ender 3,make sure its the longer one ~26mm) e3d copper nozzle.4x 2088 drivers, These mods drastically improve the print speed and give a better quality print, less blobs/zits.i can now print a calibration cube (20x20mm) in 5m8s. Benchy in ~24min. I highly recommend all metal heatbreak and the arm clips that use rubber bands(or print a tpu ring or use sealing o-rings) which helps a lot with the play of the ball joint ends. I have had mine about 6 months and only recently(within the last few weeks) have I had issues. I have 6 printers at this moment and by far my favorite is the Q5 if I am only printing smaller PLA or PETG. If I need large prints I use the modified tronxy x5sa, specially prints from high temp filament(like Tough PC) I use the enclosed Ender 3(modded) if printing flexible I use the other ender 3 with direct drive if dual color I use the ender 3 with the Chimera+, if abrasives I use the ender 3 with the bmg with hardened gears and microswiss A2 steel nozzle. Tl:DR how is your q5 holding up a year later? Also watch out 3d printing can be addictive.
I forgot to mention, I found that sensitive skin baby wipes work fantastic for removing glue from the glass bed, follow it up with 70% or higher isopropyl alcohol you will have awesome adhesion. Also a little spray of 50% or less around the edge of the print after it's done helps releases the print easier with or without glue.
Holy! You really went all out on that printer. I haven't done nearly as many mods on mine. It works great as is so I'm not too worried.
Nice video Does the shiny block worked out and what part does fit, can the part that you broke on the block be replaced with a normal screw part, I'm totally new to 3d printing and have looked many yt videos. Good Luck 🤞
The copper block worked but you have to be careful on what you use. Alot of blocks don't support the 3mm cannister on the thermistor. You don't need one but I prefer one cause those wires are small and easy to break. The Q5 hot end is from what I can tell a combination of an E3D v5 and v6 hotend the only place that I have been able to find the heat sink and heat break is Ali Express. They are super cheap so I just order them whenever just in case. I am trying to keep all of the 3D printing related videos on our other channel ua-cam.com/channels/-J9RuKdwJ43H1j_mH-zsXw.html
You can use a ~26mm all metal heatbreak for an Ender 3 on the Q5. You can get a v6 heater block with I believe it's pt100 thermistor. You can use the standard glass beads but you have to wire it to the existing pig tail. If you use the ender heat brake you have to switch to a V6 nozzle.
🖖 👍
Nice video 🖖 👍 Can the auto level tool be used with the bed heated? 🤔
Yes, its preferable to have the bed and hot end heated. It gives you a more accurate reading when adjusting the Z offset.
I didn't have any of this hassle when installing pei on my q5. All I did was clean the pei sheet with dish soap and warm water. After it was on the printer I cleaned it with iPa. Obviously had to level the bed before homing or printing.
Since this video we have gotten another Q5, 3 QQS Pros, Monoprice mini Delta V2 and 2 Elegoo Neptunes. No issues putting the PEI sheets on any of them. This was just a learning experience.
@@parentalgaming3785 that's awesome. Hows the mini delta, how fast can you get it to print?
I would have some type of bottom support and always do, brim something as support on the first layer.

With a PEI sheet installed 60c
With Isopropanol Stick the print to Hard to the hotbed. I use window cleaner. The yellow is the coating from the printbed. When you use ever Isopropanol, the print can be come Lose.
Some segments in the video are stamped not adjacent to each other
I tried to put everything in the video in order of the steps to perform rather then my trial and error.
You can print c clips for those lock nuts!
Ya, I gotta do that. I keep on loosing them.
How has it been working? Sorting out ringing issues with mine.
Working great! The FLSun Q5 is really a rock solid printer. The ringing issues may be caused by a loose belt or not all belts at the same tightness. We have recently gotten an FLSun QQS-Pro used with that issue. We are just waiting for new belts to arrive from Amazon.
Ther are many tips on YT how to get rid of ringing ect, many are of not dry enough filament or to fast speed ect.
The addition to the E10+ ESRB rating between ratings E and T in 2004 was most likely due to the complaints about the amount of violence and gore that was included in E-rated games that have been released before 10/1/2004, the date the E10+ rating was added, this is similar to how the PG-13 MPAA rating was added between PG and R due to complaints about the amount of violence and gore in G and PG rated films.
Thank you for the informative comment. I am not sure the exact reasons, but you are probably very close if not dead on.
TV actually has 2 ratings between TV-G and TV-14(TV-Y7 and TV-PG). So they are 2 steps ahead.
Thanks for the honest info . I am looking to buy a 3D printer and info like this helps my decision.👍
Sorry I have been off of the uploading band wagon lately. We do have a video coming up comparing the Q5 and Ender but that will probably take some time to edit. I would recommend the Q5 over the Ender.
Going to try these settings tonight. Been having some minor issues with prints and hoping this might help. What kind of filament are you using?
I like the SunLu or YouSu filament. I go with PLA+. People say it is better.
@@parentalgaming3785 gotcha. I'm running regular sunlu pla but had to drop my bed temp back to 60 and up the nozzle to 215. Those other settings are looking great though. Thanks for the heads up
I will save you some frustration. The printer is great. Ender 3 and the pro are not much different. I have an ender 3 pro. Go ahead and order some silicone bed spacers and get rid of the springs. This printer loves to loosen the bed level knobs. You're extruder is plastic. Spend the 12 bucks to get a metal one from Creality off Amazon. Under your magnetic bed is a sticker. There are 4 screw heads under that sticker. Each screw should have a nylon lock nut installed. Also wouldn't hurt to put one under the bed level knobs too if you have the want. I destroyed my magnetic bed sticker within the first week. Ran the nozzle into it. Oops. If you have issues with a warped bed get a glass bed to go on top of the metal one. This style of printer sometimes has issues with a sag as you get away from the z axis screw. A good thing to have is dual z screws. All of my upgrades were from amazon. If you have any problem let me know and I'll help to the best of my abilities. Facebook can help alot too.
Thank you, I appreciate it. I don't plan to start using the printer until next month as I don't have the room right now. I will be ordering a metal extruder for sure. The other parts I want to experience the vanilla parts before upgrading. Maybe that can be a video.
@@parentalgaming3785 Any video you post is a good video to me. Support and love y'all's way.
Thank you for the support. We have alot of video ideas just not alot of time to shoot/edit them.
I hope you are enjoying your 3d printer. I ended up buying an ender 3 pro and have been having a great time.
Why is there a 17 and 18 does that one year really change that much?
For movies (in the US at least) there is an R rating (which is 18) and NC-17. The R rating is still up to a parent discretion. The NC-17 rating though is a hard no individuals below 17.
@@parentalgaming3785 R is 17 NC-17 IS 18
Sorry, yes R is 17 but NC-17 is also 17 according to www.motionpictures.org/film-ratings/. There's really no level of maturity that 1 year gets you. I think the only thing that an AO rating insures is that you can't just go down to a retailer and buy it. AO is also the kiss of death for most games so it also keeps the developers and publishers in line.
@@parentalgaming3785 it says no one 17 and under.
Awesome!
Thanks! Sorry for the bad video quality. We were trying out a new camera and it did not do the best.

I would also like to let you know that I will be receiving 250$$ at the end of the school year next week
For $250 I would recommend pitching in the extra $50 and getting a quest 2. Better resolution, faster, better wireless.
@@parentalgaming3785 ok
So what do ya say?
If so, I can either buy it. Or I can help you guys out on your channel and give you a Mystery Box that contains things that can be just as much as the quest when you add it up. And plus, you get content on your channel that will draw attention when you have a title like, "Whigby gave us this Mystery Box for our Quest!!!"
So, are you selling the OG Quest
Ya, we are selling it.
Glue stick would of been easier
The buildtak layer was coming off of the bed. Glue sticks worked very well for me before that.
If you are running Cura 4.X with your Flsun Q5, tell me what comm port does the printer connect to? At one point I know my Q5 connected to Cura 4.9 and now it has stopped. All of my drivers are current and up-to-date under Win10Pro. I asked support at Flsun and they indicated that the Q5 does not connect in Cura and I should use Repeteir. When you load a profile you will get QS or the QQS, no Q5. and I used the QS and renamed it Q5 and got great performance out of it. Now, on any installation of Cura, I am not connecting. Any suggestions.
I don't connect to my printer. I export to gcode to micro SD and put the card in my printer. Later on I intend to load OctiPi on a Raspberry Pi and use that to upload printer. When I first set up Cura I used the QQS profile.
This is all great info. Got to follow this channel for sure
Have you tried ABS or ASA filaments on this plate? Also, i found online that isopropyl alcohol does not remove finger oils, soap and water does. You can try that on the original plate and the prints will stick well again.
I have not. I have only used PLA and PLA+ in my printer.
WHat? IPA will definately remove oils before soap n water...
I suggest that you try rec room laser tag
Man, you're going to kill someone with that suggestion.
Keep the beat saber vids going
Nice video! I have a Q5 as well and printing a new air duct helped quite a bit. Keep it up!
Thanks, I will definitely be printing a new air duct. There are alot of mods I want to do to this but can't right now as I will be discussing in my next FLSUN update video.
For those who want to do this. You should remove your Glasbett first, as it makes it harder to get an even bed, and the heating is worse. Also, before you make a new level, you should erase the old one under settings, than it shouldn't crash into the bed.
Good advice. Thank you for the recommendations.
In case of the Q5 the glass is the base bed, the heater is directly attached to it. I have one and all that's needed is to rough it up with steel wool and print at 5° hotter on the bet, it works great!!! Just make sure to use painters tape of you print PETG if not you will need to replace the metal bed after printing because the PETG will fuse to the PEI sheet.
Wrong, don’t listen to this guy, u can leave the glass alone, just stick the magnetic piece on top of the glass, then put the flex plate on top of that. There’s no problem with it at all. It actually helps the printer because it evens out the level because it’s top-heavy. Don’t listen to this guy he knows nothing. I have the QQS pro and I have done this and it works perfectly. without the removal of the glass.
@@JerseyStyle7 for one you compare it to a different printer and i never said it doesn't work I just said it is worse. And which of my statements are wrong? - if you glue one not perfect flat surface to another not perfect surface you need to compensate for both. - Glass insulates so to transfer the heat from a metal heater to a glass surface to a magnetic sheet to a metal plate takes much more power than if you leave the glass out. - the further the temperature sensor is from the end surface the less accurate it is so the heating is less stable Sure, Auto leveling can compensate for most of the uneven Surface and a new pid tuning will compensate for the worse heating stability, so you only have to increase the bed temp by 5° to get a decent first layer, but that doesn't mean it's best practice or the best option in the long run. And for Bonus, if you remove the glass, you can reuse it later, if you stick something on it the glue will damage the surface. If you say I'm wrong and have 0 clue what I'm talking about at least bring solid reasons except " It WoRkS oN A dIfFeReNt PrInTeR fOr mE!!!1!1!11"
@@ized88 your wrong again 100% I never adjusted the bed temp, didn’t have to, because I know how to level, and as far as the adhesive on the magnet, your wrong again there as well, i peeled that magnet off my old machine with no problem-u gotta heat it first, wow-u really need some 3-d printing tutorials dont you🤦♂️😂🤦♂️
Okay, I see now why you needed to replace your nozzle.
Just got my printer last week. Lights around the base would be great since it's challenging to see what's going on down there. lol I'm running the Cura that came with my Q5 and all's well but would like to have the most current version for the added features. Thanks!
The version that comes with the Q5 is old. You can download the latest version from Cura's site here ultimaker.com/software/ultimaker-cura. Also, I will have to put off my light mod yet again. I was attempting to replace the nozzle and it didn't go too well. I will be posting a video update of that because I think its a very good learning opportunity.
@@parentalgaming3785 I just downloaded Cura 4.8 and it's running fine. Not sure why you're having trouble with the nozzle but look forward seeing what happened. Thanks!
@@baxrok2. Well, it started out with my wanting to replace my fan because it was starting to make a grinding noise. So I thought as long as I had the effector off I might as well. And I wanted to replace the PTFE tubing anyhow which involves taking out the metal throat and making sure it's clean.
@@parentalgaming3785 Okay, I see. I just got my PTFE tubing today. Hopefully, installation will go smoothly!
Hey. You have to clean the bed with ipa before printing... Your fingerprints seem to be all over the sheet. Also your first lines seem to be to high (z axis really have to pinch the paper while setting it up). First heat your bed to 60c via touchscreen, then do the auto leveling again and z-axis. The best you can do is to use this g code in your slicer, it will prime the nozzle doing an half circle at the edge of the bed wich is the time to check if the line is a little squished (wich is what u want)... if not ajust it down with the touchscreen while it does the priming thing. Start code: G28 ;Home M420 S1; load bed levelling mesh G1 Z15.0 F6000 ;Move the platform down 15mm ;Prime the extruder G92 E0 ; reset extrusion distance G1 X-98 Y0 Z0.4 F3000 ; move to arc start G3 X0 Y-98 I98 Z0.4 E40 F400 ; lay arc stripe 90deg G92 E0 ; reset extrusion distance G1 E-3 G1 X0 Y-50 Z4 E-2 F3000 ; get off the bed G92 E0 End Code: M140 S0 M104 S0 ;Retract the filament G92 E1 G1 E-1 F300 G28 X0 Y0 G2 8 M84 SKE00
i have seen your update video . so forget what i said about clean the sheet :) . but the leveling with heated bed and the g codes are very good . I never print without it anymore :) however... always nice to see some q5 content (there is unfortunately a smaller community for this printer as i was hoping for when i purchased it .
I want to document my experience with the FLSUN as someone new to 3D printers. I also have not seen much about the Q5 on UA-cam or anywhere. This might be due to the Q5 being relatively new.
Hello, can you show me your cura profile? Thanks in advance!
I can do that. There are still alot of settings that I need to tinker with.
The PEI is slightly slick Use #000 steel wool to scuff the surface of the plate. You will better adhesion on the bed. Plus you may experiment with adding 5deg increments of heat to the bed. I am waiting on my magnetic flexplate system from Whambam. I use this on my other printers and it works great.
Thank you for the suggestion
i just use elmer's glue stick on mine. works like a charm
PEI is the best surface in terms of adhesion, by no means is it "slick"
Nice job. I have the same printer, and a few more. I opt out of putting the light stripes into the 2020 extrusion. Instead, I printed out the led light ring from Thingiverse and that will get wired into the 24vdc power supply with its own on/off switch. I designed my switch box in Freecad. I have had this printer for just over two weeks and I am really impressed with its performance and functionality. I will print out the 2020 corner 90deg post braces for the bottom area. I may have to design the braces for the top in Freecad.
I would be interested to see the LED light ring on the Q5. I would think that the arms and hot end would cause shadows. Please keep me updated.
The LED light rings I designed are working great. I made one with 18 lights and one with 24. No problems with hard shadow casting on either.
