Reviews of 60s/70s Sci-Fi with Lost in Space & Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea getting extra attention.
Also Batman 1966, Star Trek TOS & Japanese Sci-Fi are highlighted.
And yes, I am the same Stuart Rawe who worked as a comedy actor on Australian TV between 2008 and 2022. However, this channel is a totally different ballgame to all that. So please don't go to my videos expecting laughs!

Godzilla Vs Smog Monster (1971)....can the Godzilla series get any more interesting than that in the 80s and 90s? We shall see? Latitude Zero (1969) is another Japanese Sci-Fi movie I love. Can Japanese Sci-Fi make anything as good as that in later years? The 1980s was a time of William Shatner Original Cast Star Trek movies....and the return of Godzilla!

Space 1999-ish movie SHAPE OF THINGS TO COME (1979) review - Jack Palance, Barry Morse, Canadian
Too bad the studio didn't continued with a budget where it could improve on the monsters, special effects and sets. Not to mention some more creative writers. Would have lasted longer. Instead of wasting time, money and effort on Land of the Giants which only lasted a year. Voyage lasted 4 seasons 😢😢😢
@@carlacrawford9349 Thanks for watching my video. Land of the Giants actually lasted two seasons not one. But yes, the first season of Giants was in production when VTTBOTS season four was in production and there was only so much cash at Fox. Thanks again.
Still one of the coolest spaceship designs ever.
@@hyacinthlynch843 yes indeed

Good movies.
Very good show good episode

Over 100 episodes - one of, if not the longest running SF series of its time. One of my childhood favorites and along with Time Tunnel and Outer Limits, wyi I still love SF
@@JohnReed-uc2wk Interesting. Those three shows you mention - VTTBOTS, Tunnel, Limits - are included in my list of Top 10 TV shows of all time.
Will Smith was in a more modern reboot (I am legend) on the novel this movie is based on
@@JohnReed-uc2wk yes indeed he was. I liked The Omega Man more than the reboot.
@StuartRaweakaStuOz me too!
@@JohnReed-uc2wk thanks
One of the better season 4 episodes IIRC, haven't seen it in a while. Cassavettes would take roles like this to fund his films. Thanks Stu.👍
@@ARWest-bp4yb (to me) Cassavetes is forever remembered for his Columbo appearance. His acting and dialogue with Peter Falk was outstanding. Thanks.
I suppose this episode was mostly a chance for Irwin to re-use his dinosaur stock footage again!🤣
@@ARWest-bp4yb It had Paul Carr return as a slightly useless crewman but reasons unknown they changed his name from the season one name he had. Also, there is a bonding scene between Sharkey and Nelson.
@@StuartRaweakaStuOz I vaguely remember it, haven't seen it in quite a while.
I've seen this movie more than a couple of times, but it's been over 20 years since I've seen it on TV.
Sounds like another viewing is called for...This Island Earth is on UA-cam.
@StuartRaweakaStuOz Thanks for the response. I've never seen this film in color. The black and white version was the only one I knew about.
@@fturla___156 the colour is absolutely amazing. They went all out with the colour. So you must see it.
Hey Stu, this has always been one of my favorites, in no small part due to Faith Domergue!😉 Seriously though it's a great Sci-Fi classic all around, one of the best!👍
Thanks for watching. Yes, this and Forbidden Planet were the big space epics, in colour, in the mid-50s.
The iconic Eico 377 signal generator is seen in the middle of the control panel.
@@TheTheo58 yes indeed.
Voyage is the only Allen show that I enjoyed, lost had the smith character ruined that show , he was too clownish. Both land and tunnel shows became simple formulas. Only Voyage stood out. Lots of fun.
@@randyacuna5643 I liked them all but agree Voyage was the best. Thanks for watching. Stu.
Only Irwin Allen would have Richard Basehart say to a captain of a whaling ship, "good hunting."
@@DaneK-m8h yes.
Note: In this video I hint at the public John Crawford comments about Richard Basehart. At first I was not going to put this in the video but ignoring the elephant in the room just seemed silly. If you want more details, I would just say it is too boring to talk about. Enough said. Stu.
Lennie Hayton music, yawn...idea good but underdeveloped due to budget limitations. I have this on 16mm
The music was terrible.
@@StuartRaweakaStuOz Not a fan of Haytons themes, give me Leith Stevens anyday!
@@richardryan1846 yes, Stevens was better.
I never liked how they had to loop Crawford’s dialogue back in. Irwin thought he sounded to foppish.
Mark, is it okay to share this video on your VTTBOTS group? In the video I hint at the John Crawford accusations about Basehart. I fully understand if you would rather not put that stuff in the group. It could trigger rude comments from posters. Regards Stu
@ - Thanks, Ill pass on this one. With the negative comments out of context, I think it would be problematic to post it.
@@markrosato1352 no problems. Thanks for watching my video.
And Time Tunnel sets and props too.
Yes indeed.
I agree that LIS effects- and music- were better than in Star Wars or Star Trek. The LIS episodes were more dramatic, concise, effective.
@@donaldcrabtree6259 The Alexander Courage scores for Star Trek season one were very good. Season two had some great music (Mirror Mirror, etc) but season three of Star Trek had some less pleasing scores. Thanks for watching.

Most of the Black and White early episodes of Lost In Space were very well written. When it switched to color, only Hunters Moon was well written.
Some others were pretty cool. One of my favorites is "Prisoners of Space".
