      The magnet I use is one I removed from a pocket screwdriver. It’s just stuck to the end of another magnet. After you find a magnet that fits inside the hole, sometimes you need to push and pull the cam a little to get the pin to wiggle out.

    • @brazinBrett
      @brazinBrett Рік тому

      I did drain and flush the tank when I originally cleaned the carbs. Turned out the customer used a bulk fuel tank on their farm to fill the bike and their bulk tank was contaminated. Ultrasonic cleaning is nice if you have a large enough tank to do them, but it’s not required if you do them right manually.

    I live in Germany and recently had my XVS 1100 Dragstar classic (European version of the V.Star) in the shop because live the bike in the video I had let it sit for a few years and the gas turned to slop. I had the bike towed there in order not to gunk up the fuel system with the old gas. The shop supposedly overhauled the carbs, adjusted the valves and installed a new peacock. When I picked up the bike it seemed to run pretty good, not great but good. But gradually the bike started having issues and it got to the point ( after only 600 kilometers) that I needed to drive with the choke on all the time. Long story short, i brought the bike back and explained what was happening and they told me that I was to blame because i only drove 600 kilometers in 3 months and that would cause the fuel system to gunk up again. They ended up cranking up the idle and SOLD me a can of fuel additive and told me to come back after i pushed a tank of fuel with the additive through the system. The bike still isn't running great. I would appreciate any thoughts , opinions or advice on what is going on. Thanks.

    On the removal of that sensor you had to use the 10mm socket, what brand of socket did you use? None of mine 10mm, including a supposedly thin wall socket, fit in the gap between the sensor body/nut and the outside of that pilot screw cavity. I will need to get a different thin wall socket. I tried both 6- and 12-point sockets.

    Hello from France. I have a small problem with the sixth gear , it jumps and I fall back to fifth under 130km/h (80 MPH) unless I keep the selector in high position with the foot . According to the dealer it would be the pinion of the 6 which would be worn and very expensive repair 3500 € 😱 . A colleague Victorien , told me that he thought that the concern came according to him from the fork and that it would be easier to change and therefore cheaper . Do you think he is in the truth ? Thank you and long live Victory, I have been in love with My Vision since May 2011. She has 66486 miles to date. Sorry for my English, but I am obliged to pass by translation it is like me, not very young lol.

    • @brazinBrett

      Both of the options you’ve given could be the problem. Regardless of which is the problem it is the same amount of labor. Unfortunately all transmission components are installed into the engine cases before any engine parts are so it will require a complete engine removal and tear down to repair properly.

      Tensioners need to be removed because you are removing the cam gear from the cam. While yes, these are oil pressure driven tensioners, removing them from the engine makes your life a bunch easier when re installing the cam gear to the new camshaft.
