At the Sth Hiendley /Brierly Frickly bridge to the Tunnel side, when they decommissioned the tracks they lifted the sleepers and the Small creosoted rail chocks (Nogs) were stacked in piles . My dad used to send us with bags over the fields to collect the "Nogs" our coal house was filled with em at one point. very good fire starters for coal fires. Spent my whole childhood riding horses Motor bikes n cars from Hiendley over to Shafton Carlton and Royston stacks along them lines. Very many memories were made along them

Im from Sth Hiendley and our house backed onto the fields beside the railway lines n tunnel. I was told the real name of the tunnel was the "Marr" tunnel. which ovver time became the "mile tunnel". I had my 1st near death experience setting a rope swing over the edge of the buttress. The waterfall shots were the only easy way up to the top of the buttress. back in the day . The reason theres a raised floor in the middle is because kids used to drive nicked cars down there and burn em. so they built up and filled in a big pile to stop em driving through .

Top trivia my dad worked for British coal/RJB/UK Coal. At one point either RJB or UK coal he can't remember who exactly (he is 80 so you'll have to forgive him) asked him and his workmate who were basically helping with winding down old sites could they dismantle oddball..... Yeah you can imagine his response. When he told me about that story on a visit to it just today I replied in the car park "dismantle it? What with!? A 1000lb bomb?!" I'm glad they didn't!

I was a medic deployed to Nocton Hall during Desert Storm from January - March 1991. Our squadron was from David Grant Medical Center, Travis AFB in Northern California. Thank you so much for sharing this footage. It makes me sad to see the condition now, but brings back a lot of memories.

It's just shocking how much time and effort spent building bunkers everywhere in europe.

Domed wagons for coil , not insulated. Wagons built at Thrall York . That road at the end was our way in to the diesel depot. Its all overgrown now . Yes, we used the wagon cover for a sand shed at Newport

Its all flattened now with talks of a wind farm / sola farm . The wagon depot was a busy place. Its now done in a silver shed at Margam Knuckle yard . I was based at Canton originally but spent my last years working for DB as a mobile engineer. There were hundreds of wagons in South Wales scrapped, some had only just had maintenance. I had to take numbers on one shift, 132 wagons , most scrapped. Train crew was manned from the Diesel depot

Went there a few years back on the way home from Germany. Was full of asylum seekers hiding out. Very intimidating at the time as I was on my own. They were in the bushes and in the bunkers. Can't believe how the French have cleared so much of the bunker complex in the area and turned into some sort of nature reserve. I had expected to find lots of places to explore having seen it on maps only to find most of it gone.

The cartridge looks like 7.92mm x 57mm also known as 8mm Mauser, used by the Germans.

Don’t think those were mummified spiders, more like shedded exoskeletons. They’re even bigger by now, careful folk.

I was in the ROC at Sector HQ Oxford, 87/88. Exercises were great fun and taken seriously, you really got into the various scenarios as they played out. We used to gather information from outposts like in your video 👍🏻and plot fall out etc. I think some of the outposts were closing in 1988, a lot were flooded. great video 👍🏻

This was my grandparents home, since it’s been empty this past year it has really destroyed what the house was, my family were all for fancy dress parties every year for my grandmothers birthday hence the fancy dress. The amount of belongings they had over the 40 years from across the world is unbelievable. It was a very looked after home. My son and I lived there briefly hence the baby stuff too.

when we were kids in the 60s we walked past the old terraced houses on the right as you get to the point. i remember women with their pinnies on waving to us. we later got a caravan at kilnsea and used to see the lighthouse flashing late evening.happy memories

My cousin was a patient and eventually died in that place. She had a tragic life, and I hope her soul has finally found peace.

That pillbox only juat collapsed beginning december. And if you had walked few more minutes further you would seen other pillbox that's now on beach.

There is a similar pill box - or ex-pill box between Robin Hoods Bay and Ravenscar that only had the entrance left when I passed it last summer - a few years back it had been more or less all present.
