Beijing Subway Line 3 is a high-profile line in Beijing's rail transit network. Since 1957, after several changes in the world economic situation and the adjustment of urban construction priorities, the construction of Line 3 has been repeatedly delayed, and most of the lines have been "ruthlessly snatched" by Line 4, Line 6, Line 14 and so on. Even for a while, the line seemed to be in abeyance. Nevertheless, the construction of Line 3 has always been included in the blueprint of urban development, carrying the expectations across generations.
After a 60-year wait, Line 3 finally started construction in 2016 and officially opened for operation on December 15, 2024. This line connects the city's important business and residential areas, passing through the Workers' Stadium, Sanlitun, Chaoyang Park and Dongba district, not only adding transportation convenience to the bustling areas, but also injecting vitality into the emerging areas in the east, and integrating Beijing Chaoyang Station into the subway network for the first time, providing great convenience for transportation between the northeast and Beijing. Passengers no longer have to cram into bumpy ferries with bulky suitcases.
Line 3 has also been praised for its unique, user-friendly design. The train uses a semi-open cab design, so passengers can feel the charm of the train operation up close, and the interior of the first car is deliberately designed, bringing a new experience for railfans.
Looking to the future, Line 3 is not only a continuation of history, but also a new starting point for urban development. Its opening marks the further progress of Beijing's subway network in modernization and intelligence, and also adds more convenience and warmth to the daily life of city residents.

How many of these new trains are actually on the red line. I live off of the red line and use it regularly, I’ve been on these but I barely ever see them.

This is a very well presented time lapse video but the Bombardiers aren't going to be replaced by the CRRC's. The CRRC's are replacing the 1969-70 Pullman "Silverbirds" and then the 1980s UTDC "Redbirds".
