We took a ride on the special Yufuin No Mori train in Kyushu, Japan.
Travelling through forests and past mountains and rivers, the Yufuin No Mori is a joyful tourist train that goes between Hakata (Fukuoka) and Yufuin stations. We travelled on it in November 2024.
It's included under the Japan Rail Pass, but you do have to make an advance seat reservation because it's really popular.

NB: you have to give your seat number when you complete the form, so you need to have made your seat reservation beforehand.
It's obviously meant for tourists and is often fully booked, but we'd really recommend travelling on it!
