I want my NAS to have controls, that the other persons NAS (family member) does not have, because I am buying both. For lack of a better way to put it, both will mirror/copy anything put on either, but I will have the ability to view all of what is on the remote NAS, their files/pictures, etc., but they cannot see what has been downloaded on my end. Can it be done?

I know this video is 3 years old and the interface/software has a changed a bit but this is the only video/article I found that actually got Pi-hole working for me. Thank you for the detailed video and a to the point video! Cheers!

Is the bridge mode necessary? I set up as host network mode and everything is working fine.

Thanks a lot for the tutorial. I followed through to the end. For some reason my NAS will detect either of the two adapters, but not both at the same time. If any one of you has some guidance for me, i'd really appreciate your help. I'm running out of ideas ;-)

Followed the instructions step by step, but every time I try to connect either RDP or SSH I get: Connected to guacamole, waiting for response.

this video is a great help ! however i do have a question. the port number changed itself to 2999 after i restart my routers. how can i check what being set previously. I remember i do follow the guides set as 3000

There is a possibility that openssh will not be enabled or will not start at boot. What I had to do is explicitly enable the ssh.service by entering: "sudo systemctl enable ssh" in the terminal after installing openssh-server.

One thing I am learning is that C2 storage is definitely not great for a DR scenario, I am assuming that is why Synology has C2 Backup for bare metal restores etc

Hello… where can I find the official version of the windows 11 iso that you are using in this video? The current iso version of windows 11 available for download won’t boot to the windows install screen. I also see a secure boot notification when I connect to the iso. I’ve tried both versions of your install methods. Neither worked for me. I have a DS 923+ 64g ram, two 1 tb M.2 cache. I’d appreciate any advice..Please help, if you can… thx

I think that you need to prefix your docker code with sudo to execute it on the root. It will request for your password before execution of the code.

I thnk everybody misses the detail that physical hard drives 3.5" are the bottleneck. They cant write further than 120-150Mbps. The hard drives of your synology are the bottleneck. If you want speed, get M2 pool drives into the newest synologies with 10GB network card into the synology Nas

i already have my pihole with raspi and want to make another for pihole backup in case my raspi goes down. i already followed this guide and successfully deployed my pihole with macvlan and bridge network. but my pihole on synology cannot query anything if i try nslookup with its own bridge ip as a server? kindly help on this?

I tried the Link Aggregation method and USB 2.5GbE method with my DS918+. I don't see any difference with the file transfer from the PC connected to a 2.5GB PCle network card running 2gig internet speed. My file transfer speed rate is 85-90MB/s. Everyone else using the same method gets a 200-plus transfer rate. Any suggestion or help would be appreciated.

Everything is working and connected, but my local PC (2.5 Gigabit card) to NAS (USB 2.5 Gbps adapter) file transfer speed is still 26.8 mb/s. I'm getting frustrated trying everything, and nothing has changed. Any help would be appreciated.

I was able to get WIN11_24H2 to install on Synology. While setting up the virtual machine, change machine type to Q35, set the storage controller to SATA, and UEFI for firmware. Once WIN is installed, the Guest tools will fail to install. Will need to add WMIC feature to windows. Select Start (or the Windows icon on your keyboard or the taskbar). Select the Settings app to open it. Select the System tab. Locate and select Optional features toward the bottom of all system features. Click Add an optional feature < View Feature Type WMIC, tick it and click Next The system will start to add WMIC Once installed, Guest Tools will now install.

I get a ton of errors when doing the compose.yml, Jellyfin is such a pain to setup, I have tried so many times.

Hi. I did all the steps but it still doesn't work. How do I check what causes the errors? It says "This site can’t be reached". I don't have firewall on. I have done your tutorials with the caddy manual install and this one. Still doesn't work. I hope I can figure out where I went wrong.
