In case you don't know, Sinistar uses a 64-way stick for movement, so it's even harder when you emulate it.
style of your drawings reminds me of anthology of the killer were you inspired by any chance or at least played it?
Nice video. I'll only have to disagree with your "Step 4: Don't use save states". While I agree they aren't going to make you better at the game if you use them just to inch your way to the credits, they are a powerful practice tool for difficult bosses, stages, or sections you would otherwise have to play through from the beginning of the game to try and relearn. After all, if you can consistently beat stage 1 to 4 without dying, it doesn't make much sense to keep going back through them if your current goal is to learn stage 5.
8:08 Ahhh yes, classic arcade game design. This is sometimes referred to as "Gradius Syndrome." I recommend looking it up, but essentially when arcade games feature power ups and you lose them upon death it makes the game harder if not impossible. Playing after losing your power ups is sometimes referred to as "recovery." If you're trying to 1cc a lot of older arcade games, you'll sometimes find that the idea is to "no miss" the game, aka finish the game without dying, because dying is so bad in regards to your ability to kill enemies.
The Fnaf animatronics are very big, so ofc someone would fit in a springlock suit. Case and point: Fnaf: Help Wanted
Great Video!!
Kentucky Friend Chicken is peak
omg you like fighting games? id love a video on those from you!
I absolutely love the different threads you used to connect the different games on the list (Altered Beast into Flicky through Sonic 1, the differences between NBBM and Dynamite Dux), it made for a very compelling watch. I've been playing through a lot of Sega arcade experiences through my modded Mega Drive and Saturn recently, and a big part of their appeal was getting into that mindset you mentioned at the end. It's very rewarding getting farther and farther into games like Virtua Fighter, Sonic 1 and Sega Rally Championship (my fave so far) without abusing the continue system and letting the game overs come through naturally. Great essay!
MILES OF KILOMETERS UPLOAD LETS GOOOOOOOO
20:15 Defender 2000's soundtrack by Alistair Lindsay is one of the earliest games I can think of that uses sampling, and it's exclusively hard-hitting Williams arcade sound effects. It really feels like a proper tribute to arcade games that deserves more love. Helps that the music itself also slaps insanely hard--both in harsh MOD file format and polished redbook audio
Bit of a stretch but is the animated 3d layout stuff inspired by Anthology of A Killer?
If you ever wanna get into arcade games just get them on your school computer and play them when you’re bored in class. I was playing splatterhouse every day for a week or 2 in class and I ended up beating it without continues while trying to do a 3 credit run
peak just dropped
yooooo this is fire
39:50 the boob censor accidentally censored the duck's eyes instead of the tits
WE'RE SO FUCKING BACK
You put Cotton on the thumbnail, sign me up
I've started doing the same thing as well actually. I've been playing a bunch of both classic and modern arcade games, and I've been enjoying it a TON! Another enjoyable video!
Glad to be early for this one :D awesome stuff man :) God bless ya and Jesus loves ya!
wake up babe miles of kilometers uploaded
using the fucking playstation UGC pac man death sound is by far the deepest cut reference i've ever understood in a video like this, what is wrong with you?
I always thought Animal Crossing had a somewhat creepy/sinister vibe. Honestly, I love it, it makes the game feel a lot more real and raw.
it's pronounced "wise"
WAIT MILES WHERE ARE THE OLD VIDEOS ZELDA MONSTER SPECULATION MY BELOVED WHERE HATH THOU GONE
Growing up I did Leps world and really enjoyed it. I swore there were sequels but idk
lolol why is the atlas earth guy on the video banner
love the content
The diggy sound track is the best sound track of all time
20:01 Fun fact, this music is also used in one of Scott Cawton's preFNAF games, The Desolate Hope
ACNL may be my favorite, but there's no denying that Animal Crossing has lost some of its original charm and personality with each subsequent release. New Horizons making everything hyper-customizable and adding crafting kinda ruined everything, in my opinion. It's basically a different game.
why the fuck is diggy yellow in gold rush it's such a small thing but the guy aint a minion, he's meant to be a weird potato carrot pill person thing
I love your videos. I'm sure your channel is gonna blow up. Keep at it!
I made hector compliment cat's, rather you have one or not, I miss o.g animal crossing
i love videos like this

Using Hylics music but not bringing up Hylics is tragic
bro this video is amazing great stuff, I love when someone is this passionate about something, also I love the songs that you chose 👍👍
OG Animal Crossing is anything but unpolished
I LOVED hooda's escape games and would always play them during my free time at school
>video titled "The Art of the Unpolished Game" >look inside >polished games
Zoomers are used to only playing games that took 10 years and millions of dollars to make. You have to cut them a little slack.
A game like this that comes to my mind is Total Distortion. It's objectively a terrible game but all the charm it has outweighs it for me.
ok unpaus
ive never seen jacksmith but that looks like something i wouldve adored playing back in the day
Woooooo Kings Quest love! I hope you try more Sierra games.
Fnaf 1 chica is just really stoned
i love your videos! it scratches that particular itch i haven't been able to quite fulfill since avgn.
This video makes me feel old. I grew up with all these original games. For someone who didn't grow up with them, you gave a really great overview of them and I'm stoked that you connected with them. Animal Crossing was one of my favorites on the Gamecube, but there are SO many good titles on that console. Also remember Animal Crossing was originally an N64 game! Its total R*M size is only 18.4 MEGAbytes. Insane.
