Excellent and informative video. Thank you 💪🏽
Lovely introduction video :)
Thank you for this.
I've been trying to educate myself on this subject and have seen several videos from a number of sources. This is by far the most useful and instructive video I've found to date. Thank you for being so thorough and clear in your presentation.
Yet we have to go through the employer to get them to sign for it
This is an excellent conversation with Dr. Reid! I greatly appreciate her expertise and advocacy for the under-served, misunderstood and often underestimated. It is my hope this presentation is shared throughout the academic community.
Valerie had so many great points so quickly, I wasn't able to write it all down during the Summit! I'm so glad it got posted here!
I love this video as well,I am also partually sighted adult with low vision and I use a white cane.I have had nice people that have helped me out and they try their best to help guide me when I need help. Some times staff in grocery stores or walmart only say to me it is over there which doesn't doesn't help me out and other staff actually walk by my side and take me to where I have to go and reach items down for me to put in the cart
We're so excited for the first EVER Extravaganza! Comment what you're most excited about. 🤩
what are the advantages of sigthted guide
Thank you for your question, Mukisa! The advantage of sighted guide is that it puts the person being guided in control. They are the ones holding on to the guide and they can let go at any time if they feel unsafe. It also puts them behind the guide so they have time and space to process their movement, especially the level changes, by feeling the movement of their body. They can also switch sides if need be and go into the narrow passage mode when necessary.
tiny shelters
I have been working supporting folk with a sight loss now for 8 years and this is one of the best videos on sighted guiding I have ever seen. Well done.
Great video. My boyfriend unexpectantly went totally blind this year. so this is all new to us and very useful info
The information is very good. The volume could be stronger
I truly wish that all nurses and healthcare workers would have the availability to this type of information. Most of my nurses feel like I am very fragile China. I often have a nurse take my arm and pull me in the direction they want me to go and then try to physically back me up to sit down in a chair. Then gently push me until I am in a sitting position. Not cool! Kind ignorance but nevertheless frustrating. It is so very important to have enough self-respect and boldness to firmly but gently show the nurse the proper way to guide.
Thank you ma'am for this information
Super excited to learn more about the program! I love Signal Centers ♥
Alot of people including a vi I had seem to think counting steps is helpfull for me. I'm like no please don't do that it scares the crap out of me. I hate heights so know just how high I am freaks me out.
