Artist Highlight Vicki Henson

Today’s featured artist is Vicki Henson. Vicki was a weaver for 15 years, but as her vision narrowed, she found herself dissatisfied with struggling to create textile art and in turn became withdrawn and depressed with the realization of her new challenges. She began attending a weekly art expression group for artists with low vision here at the gallery and discovered being able to explore new mediums helped her feel less isolated and cope with her changing visual abilities. Art is empowering her to "let go" and have more courage. She now says, "the more I do art, the more I want to."
