@ Sigma 45mm f/2.8 DG DN Contemporary Lens is a really popular choice with autofocus. One of my favourites is 35mm Voigtlander f1.5, really nice image and great bokeh, very compact but manual focus.

Thanks for watching! I always use a Variable ND Filter on my lenses, or Variable ND with Polariser. If I’m filming myself and suddenly there is a big cloud cover, I will twist the ND on the front of the lens to adjust the exposure. But if you’re talking about leaving the camera just to record, let’s say a wedding ceremony where you need to leave a camera and not worry about it. This kind of scenario, definitely using vlog. I usually wait for the sun to come out, make sure the image is not over exposed. If people are wearing bright clothes/ white clothes I ask them to get in frame to make sure those bright clothes don’t clip. If the cloud comes over I will boost the image exposure in post, if you film in native iso 640 you won’t see too much noise.

Audio is totally fine, especially if you pair it either a good Rode shotgun or wireless lava. I use the Hollyland Lark Max.

100% agree on this one! A lot of monitors have this feature. One thing I'll add is the ability to de-squeeze via HDMI or even embed it into the footage. Currently, if you're filming in MP4 Lite mode on the S9 and want to send the clips to your phone, they will still need to be desqueezed in an editing program.

The Venus does look fantastic with the 2x adapter. Unfortunately, full-frame 35mm and 50mm will give you a big vignette, so can only shoot on those in APSC Crop mode on those lenses. The 75mm does look really good with the 1.25x adapter tho. When I shoot with Blazar I usually stop them down to f5 or sometimes even f8. Also on some commercial shoots clients want a clener look with less distortion, which the Sirui lenses would be better at for sure.

Definitely, I would love to see LUMIX AF anamorphic lens from Sirui!! It makes so much sense as LUMIX has best anamorphic features in their price range (Open Gate, Anamorphic Stabilization and Desqueeze), as well as the new autofocus system is working well - it would be a great to have. Hope Sirui is reading this ;)

Right!! Years ago when there were only massive anamorphic lenses, probably 0.001% of the users would be using them for photos lol (I know you and I would haha) But these days some anamorphics are so small and so accessible that it really makes sense to take photos with them. Hope LUMIX makes it happen! 📸

Awesome to hear that you're joining the S9 fam! I love the 9mm, but when it comes to versatility, I would get the 18-40mm. 9mm does tend to distort the image quite a bit, so shots look best if you're right in the middle, very cool for specific shots but for an all-around lens I would say zoom is the go to. If it was me, I would get the 18-40 first and get the 9mm as my second lens.

​@@bee.visuals 18mm is decent for vlogs, it also has autofocus which is very handy. Another option you could look into is the 14-28mm, gives you a bit more on the wide end, and for the telephoto you could always use the 'hybrid zoom' function of the S9.

Its a hard question actually, I really like both kit lenses. 18-40 and 20-60, If it was me, and portablility was my main factor, I would go 18-40 kit lens, and get something brighter like a 35mm f1.8 as a second.

Oh yes! 💯 Such a great combo. Funny thing is, ever since LUMIX releases phase detect autofocus, I started using so many anamorphic lenses 🤣🤣 got to get that LIDAR!

Hahah having a 5 inch but pulling focus on 3 inch is sooo fun lol. Haven’t used it so not sure how it crops in. SmallHD and portkeys should have a good crop feature. I’m currently also using Viltrox DC-x3 which is a 6inch 2000nitts screen, you can’t crop unfortunately but you can pinch to zoom, not perfect but better than ninja!

I created a 20 minute LUMIX S5 tutorial video before, and I remember a few people did have that comment so in this one I tried to slow it down a bit, and this video endded up being almost an hour long hahah, maybe on the next one ill slow it down a bit more. - BUT this time I also have provided my S9 Downloadable Settings file (link below) so when you download that, everything will be setup for you, and would be easier to follow the turtorial when its all setup and ready to go. ;)

Thats great, yeah 18-40 is not for everyone, especially because of how dark of a lens it is. The 18mm f1.8 is one of my favorites, great choice!

Thats right, no adapter needed if you get lenses. But I would still buy the PL mount as the lenses can be used on other cameras, also easier to rent out lenses when they have a PL mount :)
