Cars Are People Too
United States
Приєднався 15 жов 2021
A desire to share the adventure of building a Factory Five Roadster (using only the Base Kit and a low mile 1994 Mustang GT donor) is where this channel really began. I enjoyed having you hang out with me in the shop, so I began sharing my other project cars. If you love great cars and bad jokes, grab a drink and pull up a chair! If you learn something, I promise it was an accident.
Two Honda Trails and A Corvette on a Post Lift.
In this episode, we inspect and diagnose suspension issues on a 1978 Corvette. Afterwards, it's all play and no work as I attempt to get the two dusty and neglected Honda Trail 70 minibikes running and dashing through the snow. Truthfully, it's Christmas, and not much work is happening at all....

Marcus Aurelius: Prepping the Centurion's Engine for the Dyno
Переглядів 10916 годин тому
This week, we assemble the engine from the 1973 Buick Centurion Convertible in preparation for a trip to the engine dyno. Also, we refurbish some of the underhood brackets, pulleys, and air cleaner. And I drink a beverage while talking about fishing.

In this episode we finish sorting the Dustang's engine bay, our 1967 Ford Mustang that hasn't moved under it's own power in 20 years. UNTIL NOW. Also, Dusty, the 1936 Dodge pickup, gets almost completely disassembled. And I begin by waving goodbye to my beautiful assistant (also known as my wife) as she drives away. That's pretty much it, if you just wanted the highlights.

The ride in the shop this week is in the form of a 1991 GMC Jimmy. Why is it's LT-1 Corvette engine still running poorly? I install a tach on the Bird, and revisit fuel pressure issues on The Dustang, our 1967 Ford Mustang 289 convertible. Will the Dustang ever run right? Will I need to grab a juice box and think on it some more? Will anyone figure out that all my Dustang episodes are ripping o...

Mellow Yellow: Part 2 With guest appearances by The Dustang and a Roadrunner
Переглядів 244Місяць тому
In this Episode, we install the rebuilt circuit board in a 1967 Oldsmobile Cutlass convertible hoping to get the dash lights working with new LED bulbs. A perfectly good 383 gets pulled out of a 1969 Roadrunner and put on an old tire. The Dustang, a barnfind 1967 Mustang convertible, gets a rebuilt carburetor installed that doesn't work. And I get a mouthful of ultra sunrise.

It's two car week! The second is a 1967 Mustang 289 4-speed that hasn't run in 20 years and has been in the family since 1979. But we start where we left off last week with the mystery of the unilluminating dash lights on Mellow Yellow, the 1967 Old Cutlass. There are no winners....whiners, yes.
Mellow Yellow: Part 1 The 1967 Cutlass gets a new dash!
Переглядів 2302 місяці тому
In this Episode, we replace the old, crumbling dash, in a 1967 Oldsmobile Cutlass convertible, with a new reproduction piece. An old '90's era tape deck gets replaced by an even older '60's era AM head unit and single speaker. We attempt an LED conversion for the dash lights. We try to stop saying 'we', when it's really just one guy who does everything.

There is really nothing more fun than a Honda trail 70, 90, 110 in the mountains. Merry Christmas !!
Merry Christmas to you and your family. 🎄❄
What is the advantage to mounting your lift post at an angle? Genuinely curious.
There are two ways to buy a two post lift, the first and most common is symmetrical, where the posts are facing each other. The other, as you observed is the asymmetrical lift, which has the posts facing forward at an angle. Some of the advantages are (taken from online sources): Easier Door Access: The asymmetrical design allows for more space around the vehicle's doors, making it easier to open and close them for technicians or drivers while the vehicle is on the lift. Improved Interior Access: The offset positioning of the vehicle on the lift, achieved through the longer rear arms, allows for better access to the vehicle's interior for maintenance or repairs. Optimized Weight Distribution: Better Balance for Front-Heavy Vehicles: The asymmetric design, with longer rear arms, allows for a more balanced lifting of vehicles with a heavier front end, such as front-wheel-drive cars or those with heavier engines. Reduced Strain on Lift Components: The asymmetric design helps distribute the vehicle's weight more evenly across the lift arms, reducing stress on the lift's components and extending their lifespan. Hope that helps. Thanks for asking!
Wow what a great response. As of now I am to the first body fitting episode and really appreciate your series.
Glad to have you!
I like the sandblasted & painted parts much better, especially how they'll match up with looks of the engine. Can't wait to see it in the car. Keep up the good work and let us know the future of Mr. F. I'm going to put the body on mine this weekend and then the windshield is the last thing. Well, except for the headlights. Taillight's. Doors, hood, trunk ........ But I'll be driving it soon! Except that it's Minnesota. And winter.
It'll be worth it! I'm waiting on the engine to come back from my engine guy for MRF, and then I, too, will be driving it soon! Other than that Minnesota thing....
Glad to see you had a change of heart! You have restored my faith in you 😊
Well, you can thank my OCD. ;-)
Can't believe that you didn't sandblast those parts! I know time is money but what is that extra step. Great job otherwise.
Whew! Close call....:-)
I also am detailing a Buick. Where did you find the sparkplug wire holders? I am looking for the emission label but with no luck.

@@carsarepeopletoo9450 It is a 1977 Regal ..I've looked everywhere. I have the part number and still can't find one.
Is this it? www.classicindustries.com/product/all-years/buick/regal/parts/GN110258.html?gad_source=1&gclid=CjwKCAiAyJS7BhBiEiwAyS9uNVaF4d6KP8aTlOvIRRky9VS66h2-S3O4IDB0vITfiQzEQSNFId9pkhoCqQ4QAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds
The minimum rear suspension should be a 3-link so there's no reason to use a donor car (unless you can find a total for cheap). Everything needed can be sourced separately and results in a better car.
That can be true, however the goal of this build from the beginning was to see if the original vision of Factory Five Racing could still be achieved and result in a dream car at relatively low cost. Sourcing a low mile donor for a great deal is what this build hinged on, which I was able to do! Of course, not everything goes to plan...
A slant 6 would look good in Dusty.
Can't wait till you get to the side pipes! 😮❤❤ "damn"! I love cobras! Your doing fine. Thanks for doing this series.
You bet! Glad you are enjoying it!
Where did you get the cool funnel for the radiator? Another great day!

First time i see a thermostat break apart like that too. 🎄❄
The stock front lower control arms and rear springs is covered in the donor car prep section of the manual
Your way overthinking that front suspension, I wouldn't trade those real steel u-bolts for anything new Chinesium garbage and those were called knee-shocks which are rebuildable and fully adjustable for comfort unlike the one and done use shocks of today, yes please strengthen the rear-end because none of that is capable of handling horsepower much over 150 and remember its just an old classic and not a drift machine 😊, happy trails and smooth rides, and use some deep creep on that hardware before you give up on it and cut it off, it has more iron in it than anything you'd find to replace it
Get number one cylinder top dead center on the compression stroke, and that distributor should be facing the vacuum van should be facing directly forward towards the fam if it’s facing to the left to the right, it’s all the time
Checked clocking the distributor correctly off my list earlier this week! Thanks for the info and for watching!
He can come here
Poor Loui
Love Louie.🐱❤
Just keep being a being lol I like the videos
Buy some covers for the cars your not working on.
That's a great idea. It's been on my mind, too!
Had a good time with you today. I think your welds are almost farm like. I have never seen a car run as rough as dustang! What's up with the big red,s engine Keep smiling and have a wonderful thanksgiving.
You, too! Waiting on the engine to come back from the rebuilders on big red. I expect it soon!
Do what you think you should do and get it alive and rolling down the road.
You know you have to pull the cab off to repair it correctly. Party time with strong buddy's should take care of that.
Yeah, my best friend agrees with you. I think its going to happen.
Going to be a fun project.
How much vacuum is the carb pulling? Smaller power valve and go down in the jets. Keep up the great job 👍
Thank you! I've got smaller jets coming for sure.
Hoping to see big piles of weld like the farmer did. No you had to make them nice.
LOL It's a struggle.
You got this your doing fine
I was listening
😂
Not straightening the body and giving that old girl, a proper beautiful paint job to show off her curves is just a complete and total sin. as far as the tires you could’ve just went to the junkyard and got four of those factory donut tires for maybe $20 apiece and it would’ve rolled around and would’ve been a lot lighter than wheels and bigger tires. All she needs is a straight six maybe do a little cylinder boring and a slight camshaft upgrade and some dual exhaust and she’ll be perfect..👍😎 Have fun on your mechanical quest 🤞
I might have had too much apple juice when I ordered the wheels, but I still like them. Someday Dusty may get the full treatment. For now, I really dig the way he looks. Thanks for the encouragement!
Buy a ford crown vic and all your parts will be from one car. Narrow the cv front x member to fit. Good luck!!!!
Thank you!
Good Times
You don't need a reader for chevy obd1 ports. Just a paperclip and dash light flashery. Works on silverados without a DIC.
Yep! But when you have old man eyes its easier to plug a code reader in than squint at which pin I'm trying to push a paperclip into. ;-)
No shift kit? Ran out of yellow paint? Black hood doesn't work. Enjoy hanging out with you and your cat. Any word on what happened to Mr F,s engine? You do nice work.
I believe the trans has a shift kit and the B&M is a slap shift, so it's pretty fun. I agree, paint the hood yellow. MRF's engine is in the machine shop right now getting a new bottom end. No idea why the bearings failed! Thank you!
@carsarepeopletoo9450 looking forward to more good times hanging with you and the car's. Thanks for answering my questions.
Thanks for the personal conversation !!!
Nice job .. as always
Thanks, I appreciate it!
Loui .. where are you? Nice work on the Olds...Doing a 77 Buick dash with LED lights. Next are the dash speakers.
You are the man , with a smoking chair in the shop. I have a similar one in my Model Railroad room.
It's a great spot to think, sip coffee, and admire the project, isn't it?
Happy Anniversary!
They were called uni-lug wheels. So they could fit many cars. I learn quite a bit from watching your videos. What is happening with the Cobra engine?
Thank you! The 302 is at the engine shop getting rebuilt. It ended up having a stock bottom end with all the good parts up top. The mystery still remains as to why the rod bearings gave up on such a low mile engine.
@@carsarepeopletoo9450 are you going to make it a 348? The wife said that if we ever come into some money she would let me get a Cobra to build. Still think you should get a 340 for Dusty. Have a great day and keep smiling 😊
Still a 302. I'm really in the sweet spot for hp/tq power to weight. It will be stinky fast without trying to kill me every time I drive it.
Another fine job... shame you couldn't get all the lights to illuminate
Thank you! Check out Mellow Yellow: Part 2 for the mostly happy ending.
The boattail Rivs are my favorite 70s Buicks! So happy to see one being loved and cared for.
Nice clean '73. I was always a boattail fan and restored a '71 in 1990 with paint and interior. You have all the correct wheels and center caps, which always set a Riv off. Nice job on the new heart!
Beautiful Riviera! Love the content, keep the videos coming.
Buick are real nice cars. I have a 77 Regal that I currently go to shows with and have people drooling over it...
absolutely gorgeous mate🔥wish you could get cars like this in australia
