I adopted my MinPin Gus at 13 when our dear old Staffy passed and the 11 year old Jack Russell needed a friend. Now at 15 dear Gus is the boss of the house, dictating the walk schedule, meal times and where we sleep on the bed - our beautiful friend is everything you said he would be. Thanks for such an informative and perfectly accurate ‘heads-up’ - so helpful in deciding if he’d be a good fit … couldnt imagine home without him over the past 18 months. He’s still going strong at 15 and shows no signs of slowing down.

I have 3, none of this is wrong, I love them soo much... but... each one has #2-#4 on different levels. There should be a #5... that would be they want attention and WILL fight other min pins over it... It's bad... They fight like they are fending off a strange dog... bleeding, stitches, relentless behavior over something as simple as a spot to lay down by me... have to constantly tell them to behave... I am the alpha here, they know it... I do not slap them unless it's something terrible... I still don't do it, a firm voice and body language sends the message... they are not stupid... learning what your getting into before owning one is key as I have spent more than 15 years with them. I love them.❤

Nate: thank you first and foremost for taking the time to present MINPIN Nation. I research before I dive in to anything: watched, re-watched all of your presentations before I decided, and selected a breeder, spent hours talking with him, my vet, other friends that have them.: you were instrumental in my acquisition of my first dog in 15 years. My breeder showed me the parent pair, this was another littler for them, and my breeder told me I was his first call after the births: which did I want. Quickly I told him a female, he had three: two were twins, the third had a small white star on her chest. That was her, mine, I saw pictures of her minutes after birth, a profile shot that made me cry like a baby. Im 71. The name Isabella came to mind immediately. Isabella Mozzarella came to me ten days ago, at 10 weeks of age. I am deeply in puppy love, heartful-happy, and overwhelmed, and really surprised at how this little girl, now 12 weeks, has totally destroyed my home, how my mothering instinct has gotten me peed on, my pillow first thing. Oh, she lost lunch in my car at first meeting. That was pleasant.. She jumped over a three foot plywood barrier, landed on laundry, escaped into my living room, could not find her for almost ten minutes. and she is stubborn. will eat everything i offer her, ( breeders kibble, plus my choices: rare roast beef, tomatoes, loves, loves loves beef ox-tail chunks that i stewed then baked., only from my hand, so she knows, likes, and trusts my hands, iis reacting well to voice stimuli, but is killing me on the leash. she is faster than me, so now wears a training leash everywhere. outside, she is walked 5-8 times per day, large lawn away from all other dogs and people. Has had some, not all shots, due at 16 weeks. so I am protecting her. she likes my shirts, I had her nails done gently after the third shirt ruined in 3 days. THIS is much more learning on my part. I am the one getting trained. Just goes to prove a point: you can train an old dog... WOOF! She is pee-pad trained 100% for #1. Number 2, she seemingly likes outside, but has a fondness for carpet. Yes, she is crate training 90% now. as i said before, WOOF. she barked at me the other morning, BARKED. Was pissed at me. Glaring...... not a puppy bark, a full throated growl bark. OMG. am i imaging this? Mitchell, with Isabella...

I just love my little man, he's black and tan cropped ears and tail. I got him last year at 11 mos old he will be 2 on December 15! He loves his mom and always wants kisses and hugs, being held and always curious as to what I'm doing, lol

Separation anxiety may be reduced by playmates? IDK🤷🏽‍♂️our minPin may be comforted by the parrot at home all the time. I’d rather have 2 minpins but maybe bird helps. At least we don’t have to medicate like some dogs with severe S.A. Learning about limbic system function of canines. Actually I feel this is seen in humans also and helps us understand our own feelings. Humans feel very protective about their friends and loved ones. We often feel more protective toward others than we do about ourselves which is remarkable. Don’t know any studies that have been done about this behavior but how about the Caine and Abel narrative⁉️ Then there are those cowbirds that send their little ones off to be brooded and fed by other birds until fledged! We can learn from animal behavior?

Does daily propolis spray help mouth care ?

Our MinPin has kibbles with left over chicken carcass which has been pressure looked till bone crystals have become soft to touch. She doesn’t much like bone broth..(too soupy) but pieces of bone gristle skin mixed in with kibble meets her approval. As a result of so much calcium picking up poop is less unpleasant, non sticky easy for disposal! Never runny at all. Hardly sticks to she soles if left on grass or heaven forbid flooring. This dog was easy to train never to leave fence less front yard or certainly never to dig under fence in back yard. Any one know how to train to catch moles, voles, mice in yard or garage? If so please advise.

Min pins bark too loudly…only solution to problem I found is to train a toddler to dog whisper the dog into quietness. Don’t know what I’ll do when toddler starts school🥹dogs bark is not a yap it’s a full blown huffy but nice bark. She was able to teach the parrot to bark also…disquietening ‼️😮nothing can be heard over these 2 ‼️

Your too gay to own a dog of any kind

Ppl who have a mini pin and I love her so much and their mini pin does not act like this at all and ppl could get any dog they want or you can just train them so they won’t bark but it is going to be your fault if you won’t train them and also your mini pin will get used to being left alone for a few hours. And also why they actually think that they big it b cause their confident and brave!

Min pins are very intelligent and know how to tell you what they want and it has to be now that you get them what they want.😅. And they most definitely are entertaining and will make you laugh like crazy!!! My girl is 12 and she still has those puppy moments where she will drive you crazy but she knows she is so loved beyond belief ❤❤!!

I adopted a stag red 8 month old male min pin about 3 months ago. Rosco is super energetic stubborn, loving, and bossy. I just found your channel and its been very informative, thank you. He hasn't had any training at all so we are starting from scratch it's been super challenging and frustrating but rewarding he's picking up some things but having a hard time with others but I have confidence that him and I can make this work for both of us and if we work together so thank you for all the information

My newest curiousity: dog psychology, and understanding many of the training habits you mention. My accrued wisdom tells that A female minpin pup is, at one year, in my care, like my prior female dog, is going to be smarter, faster, understands hand signals. loud kiss sounds, and is on average easier to train than either of my sons, now 42 and 39. At first introduction: what do you suggest? I plN, ON BEING Rally hands on, have puppy-proofed my kitchen where she will live for her first year. She has a bed, in a den, in a wicker basket cave, in the corner, next to her day crate with plenty of light, a view outside, toys. I work from home, so walking her is so good for me. It seems all rosy until......But I'm patient (a mental patient for thinking this whole thing up.). For sure. But a dog lover. Thank you, Nate.

Do they get along with cats very well

We lost our 12 yr old Min Pin Jazzy end of May 2024. So we we were/are broken and decided to adopt 2 ten week old female Min Pins. Well we came home with 3 sisters! 5 months old potty training is a failure 🤣🤣 good here and there but most times not🤣🤣 hopefully you will be our miracle 🎉

My minpin was a rescue. Back in 2017 he was around 4 is what I was told. No way to tell but he’s on a 5 acre farm most days running around in the heat of central Florida. And he LOVES it

I just found out last week my 8 yr old min pin has Diabetes. Yes she was drinking tons of water & urinating alot & my mother told me most likely she has a urinary tract infection & the next morning she woke me up with her jumping on & off the bed & when i turned the light on their was blood everywhere!!! She was urinating blood & i rushed her to vets & they did x-rays in case it was a kidney stone & nothing showed up on xrays. And doctor took some blood & i had to collect a urine sample & they prescribed her antibiotics. And in less then a day, the blood in her urine subsided & she was back to drinking water normally!! Then a week later my vet calls me & says her bloodwork came back & she has Diabetes??!?!? I was confused because i brought her in for a Urinary Tract Infection & im being told she has Diabetes?????? And then i had to bring her in for the Diabetes Trial & that same day another patient at vets found out her cat also got diagnosed with diabetes too???? Now i have to give her 5 units 2x aday....And its soooo difficult to administer the shot since she knows its coming....Im thinking i should get a second opinion because once her Urinary Tract Infection (UTI) went away with the antibiotics she was fine & like I said her drinking went back to normal because with a UTI its normal for her to want to drink a lot of water...But everyone is telling me i should get a 2nd opinion...any thoughts???

My Min Pin is called Tom. He is the best dog I have ever had. He is a great guard dog and is bossy, protective, and ever so loving. He is now 10 tears old and is rather food obsessive. That is the only thing I have to be very strict with. But I live him with every fibre of my soul.

I had a clear red boy from shelter he was tall and fast wish they hadn't fixed him he lived to 16 wish i could have bred him. Miss him very much

Shes ñearly 9 yrs..very strong and active playing to be bossy and over protective not scared to challenge bigger dogs or nothing and likes my bed and take over from there..and a lot more i can mentioned

I've got a pinscher crossed with a spanish bodeguero. It looks just like a pinscher though. It's super loving. Loves everybody. Never known such a loving dog who literally just wants to be with you. Only 9 x weeks but amazing temperament, very responsive, wants to please, loves the kids the most ❤

I have always stopped my Pins and made them sit at the door, once I cross the boundary, I allow the dog to cross the boundary, both coming in and going out. They never cross a boundary before me. Makes a big difference.

I take my Min-Pin out minimum 4 times a day, being consistent is key. Treat them only if they do their business outside during your walk when you get home... Consistency is key. 7AM, 12:30PM, 4:30 PM, 8:00PM and before bedtime. Took me 2 days to house train a 4.5 year old untrained Min Pin.

I think the aggression is just part of their huge personality, meaning that they are quite complex and smart dogs.. Like their fav toys or some treats you give them, it's theirs and they are gonna protect it, it's kinda like they demand a bit of respect from you back if you want them to respect you.. Like my mini pin has her own little area where she keeps her toys, treats (like fake bones and chew things) and that stuff is her stuff, and she does not like people touching her stuff unless she offers it to you.. But i would rather call them a protective breed rather than aggressive cause they also love you really really much and mine like to start her day every day by hugging me for few minutes while i pet her a bit :) Before her I had a Chihuahua, which is also an awesome breed, very fun personalites, and I think they are a bit similar personality but the mini just takes the energy by x25 :)

Hello! Can you tell me how often should I bring a puppy outside to potty? I was told 2 hour for every month of age. So 3 hours for a 8 week old and and 4 hours for 3 months etc. TIA
