Any recommended tweaks for hardcore? Would you recommend holy or shadow for hardcore leveling? I would imagine it’s whichever spec that can better deal with unexpected situations as that’s when most death happens.

Great guide - glad you see the complexity - in 2019 I leveled with 5 in wand spec, 5 in spirit tap, and the rest in the holy tree and I was super happy with it. I did a mix of questing and dungeon healing - but with holy nova I was able to do a ton of damage and snipe a lot of killing blows by using it only when we needed healing or mobs were low health. I prioritized spirit on gear and didn’t even carry water I had so much mana regen. I wasn’t the fastest to 60 but I felt powerful in any content that I did.

i agree w all of this! most of us non-speedrunners just want to clear bosses and usually on those borderline encounters the healers need mana more than +heal. So to take this a step further you should come up with a simple rule of thumb when evaluating whether a piece replaces another piece of gear or not. Specifically when comparing +heal vs int. I usually play fire mage, so i'll use that as an example.--While leveling I can quickly evaluate +dmg vs int in my head like this: 1 int = 0.67 +dmg ....or.... 1 +dmg = 1.5 int ..... So in practice this means, a piece of gear with 15 int is just as good as 10 spell dmg.

This is a great video. I really appreciate a lot of the hard work you did. I would like to highlight the racial section in particular the PVP segment for the horde. The troll racial’s you mentioned can be used in PVP as well, like for instance, shadow guard can proc off of blackout if you are specd shadow. Shadow guard works versus ranged attacks as well safe for example a hunter shooting you or a mage frost bolting. You also failed to mention the hex of weakness. This is arranged mortal strike at 20% healing reduction all in all I do agree with you that undead is a wise choice for PVP, but I feel like troll has the edge versus undead as far as shadow PVP goes. That’s honestly just my opinion thank you for the video.

Good vid i'd imagine, but it makes me laugh. This kind of vid right now, is kind of antithetical to what most classic andies love about classic.

I don't want to be that guy, just a genuine advice: you clearly have a lot of knowledge which is great but you waffle on for ages for no reason. Keep any guide videos shorter and concise. Some of the best spriests have been nightelf...Also shadow meld can be really powerful especially in world pvp where as a spriest getting the drop on someone is important.

you have to buy gold because it becomes so inflated that you can't farm gold anymore stuff becomes too expensive. to much gold in circulation

I've always been a fan of stacking Spirit & going more moderate with +Heal at 60 on my Priest & Druid healers. Always worked well for me in dungeons & raiding, back when I played original Vanilla, TBC, & WotLK back in the day. I've lost count of the Priests who stack +Heal like crazy to the exclusion of Spirit & go OOM prematurely during encounters.

GDKP is the reason botting is rampant. Blizzard should also permaban people that BUY gold. botters exist because there is a DEMAND for them. Eliminate the demand, elimante the bots. Simple as.

Spirit is OP for leveling for almsot every class, even melee without mana bars.

Gold farming will never be more time efficient than buying gold if you live in a first world country. Gdkp is ironically the only way to compete with gold buyers in terms of gold/hour as a non swiper. The 'farming gold feels bad' will stillexist without gdkp. In fact, mathematically, its much worse because farming gold is vastly worse relative to buying gold than gdkping is relative to buying gold. I personally doubt that banning gdkps affects gold buying rates significantly. People still buy for boes and consumes, ebchants, epic mount, carries, etc. If anything the average player is more likely to need to swipe without a gdkp to pay for their consumes. Gdkp loads all the swiping onto whales and then the bought gold filters down to the avg player through farmable mat inflation and gdkps.

Assuming you can drink walk int is just as good for speedrunning. Healers just dont understand the basic math of how their stats interact and follow guides like lemmings. The shorter fights get the better int gets to a theeshold where you cant mathematically spend all your mana in the fight length. Classic has short fight lengths and max rank spells cost a large amount of mana. Qed. Int also makes your spirit better and vice versa.

I will always maintain that "of the owl" gear is best when leveling. Many like pure spirit or green stats. But I prefer straight up mana pool and spirit

Did you not mention trolls’ Hex of Weakness? Isn’t it supposed to be insane for PvP? Cast rank 1 on all enemies around / reduces healing to them by 20%

my guild and I server-first all 6 phases of raids including the 20 mans in classic 2019, I was a resto druid and plus healing was important, especially now that the buff cap has been removed and rejuvenation can be cast freely

thinking i may go herb/alch for my priest will be shadow and pvping mostly and just think alch would be a great money maker thoughts?

Dwarf Priest is the best Alliance combo (maybe even the best combo in both factions) well into WotLK. Human starts being better in PvP during Trial of the Crusader with the kooky coconuts op trinkets you get from that raid.

Do you like Restedxp? I was considering giving guides a go to level more efficiently this time, and its hard to tell which one is worth it. I've leveled plenty without one in the past but it would be fun to brain empty be told where to quest for a change

On the subject of auto attacking to tag mobs, priests have it rough because we don't wear any hit gear, but you can use a fishing pole with some basic fishing enchants and gear to get max hit chance. Very handy when the aq gates event starts and everyone is fighting for tags on bugs since priests don't have a great option for getting Melee hit capped.

Gold buyers are terrible and they should be banned, but I think you just have bad takes on why people play vanilla. I think I'm not alone in being someone that prefers old school MMOs, I'd be playing EQ2 origins if I didn't get outpaced by everyone leveling. I don't play retail because it feels like an action RPG - I prefer actually casting spells, using CC, etc. TBC is my favorite era of the game, but I prefer vanilla to retail by miles. That said, I don't have infinite time. I don't think the "ability to farm" is a skill worthy of praise in any way. It is just a time sync. I think a plurality of vanilla fans are people that *don't* have tons of time anymore as evidenced by the inclusion of dual specs this time around. I don't think we need to change the economy or allow gold buying, but to suggest that there is some skill in having the money to buy or time to farm mats for consumables is just laughable.

Previous best run was in mage 45 level 1 year ago (and yes i died a lot at first). I hope if i play priest not to kill my group in my first dungeon
