@@ChantaalReads for me it was a surprise as a lor of reviewers were saying how complicated the plot is. While the reader needs to pay atention, I did not found it difficult. It helped that I wrote the cast of characters so to not keep turning to the first pages.

Also, it might help you to know that the Stormlight books are literally three books in one. He structures each one like a trilogy, and I think he's pretty exacting on what he puts in. Anyway, that's why they're so long, and he designed them that way on purpose so the reader could really immerse themselves in the world. I think most of it does have a purpose. Anyway, you don't necessarily have to listen to me, but I always wish they were longer lol.

Omg Lex from The 100 takes me back lol… I wasn’t a huge Clarke/Lex shipper cause I loved Bellarke but DAMN Lex’s ending was truly awful Spear Cuts Through Water didn’t 100% work for me but it’s so masterfully crafted that I love seeing people gush about it! It’s so underrated and it’s a tragedy it didn’t win all the awards.

@@ChantaalReads seriously, every time I saw awards announced last year I kept being disappointed when it wasn't mentioned. Like I love Legends & Lattes but there was no good reason for that to get nominated for every award instead of Spear! Spear was nominated for the Ursula K Le Guin prize but didn't win. Hey Chantaal, good to see this video! I enjoyed it :) Sad to hear about that graphic novel. I can see what you mean about the lack of backgrounds really ruining it. The Jasmine Throne felt really slow for me too. It took me almost a month to read it. I read the second one on audio and enjoyed it a lot more, and I think the format is partially the reason. So maybe you could try on audio? For me I mainly kept going because I loved Suri’s debut series so much so I trusted her, and while I’m glad I continued, I still like her previous series more.
