I love Keigo Higashino so much! Also, Malice isn't one, but I'm having so much fun with Japanese puzzle mysteries (honkaku). I've never figured one out, but I live in hope! Somebody mentioned Shimada Soji below, and he writes those! I just read one and had a lot of fun.
I enjoyed your rant about pronunciation :)
Ooohh yesss I will dig in more, I’m getting so into Japanese mysteries lately
If you enjoyed Malice, you should try The Tokyo Zodiac Murders by Shimada Soji ( if you have not already).
I have not, but it’s definitely on my radar. Thanks for the rec!
Hey Chantaal, good to see this video! I enjoyed it :)
Sad to hear about that graphic novel. I can see what you mean about the lack of backgrounds really ruining it.
The Jasmine Throne felt really slow for me too. It took me almost a month to read it. I read the second one on audio and enjoyed it a lot more, and I think the format is partially the reason. So maybe you could try on audio? For me I mainly kept going because I loved Suri’s debut series so much so I trusted her, and while I’m glad I continued, I still like her previous series more. I’m not sure if you’ve read it though so idk if that is helpful or not lol
Yay thank you for watching!! 💙 I might just revisit Jasmine Throne on audio for sure - giving it another chance that way could help with getting back in the groove of it.
