SIX1NINE GUITARS AND GEAR
Приєднався 15 сер 2018
Guitar and gear reviews with some how to videos, Vlogging and music. I have over 9 years of experience working live shows with sound, lighting and stage management. Goal of this channel is to bring a little bit of everything to the table when it comes to music and have a lot of fun in the process. When it comes to guitar i been playing for over 15 years although I’m no shredder i love chugging and playing sick riffs.
Do you need expensive tools to work on your guitar?
Alot of guitarist's that want to tackle their own maintenance or mods on their favorite guitar, but the question still remains, do you need the expensive tools like from stewmac and crimson or other high-end companies. In today's video I'm going to show you what's inside my toolbox and show that I get a great result with less expensive tools from amazon and harbor freight and even some improvising making or modifying your own tools. It may take a little more effort, but it will save you money in the end.

I tried acrylic pouring on a guitar body. Part 1

I recently got into acrylic pouring, in case you don't know what that is, its when you take acrylic paints and pour them onto a canvas giving you endless amounts of designs patterns and in the end awesome abstract art. there are many different techniques you can do to get unique results every time. In this video I use a guitar body as a canvas and the results are awesome.

I gave my Squier baritone a makeover. Part 2 finale
Переглядів 1,7 тис.6 місяців тому
Don't get me wrong I loved my Squier baritone when I got it, but there was always a few things that bothered me such as no arm carve or belly cut and even know it grew on me I didn't love the 3 color sunburst. My goal with this project was to modernize and upgrade my baritone and I'm happy with the results so far.

A P90 is the worlds most noisy pickup, at least with high gain stuff, a humbucker is much less noisy and much fuller in the sound, and that's what you bought, a humbucker in a P90 format, so this must be a huge upgrade i would say compared to the single coil you had before.
@@HearGear yea for sure if u check out the original review i did on this guitar i mention how they were noisey
I am a bit confused. This is an Ibanez GRG121SP-BMC . This Model has a marplewood Fingerboard. You are using Dunlop Fingerboard 01 - but say: It is not suitable foe marpleboards??? Bring me the clue please.
@@TheCrypt5 it has a Jatoba fretboard… which dunlop 01 is perfectly fine to use on. www.ibanez.com/na/products/detail/grg121sp_5n_01.html
Dg: Sinusitis 😢
So did you have to sand the crackle down before the clear coat?
Just got one and the pickups are really noisy when played through an amp...when I stop playing. are you seeing that? It's bad.
@@RotterStudios negative. Mine seems fine. Did you get it new or second hand
@@SIX1NINEGUITARSANDGEAR thanks for letting me know. new from Sweetwater. I stop playing and it sounds like single coils in a fender.

I just bought a jem jr. used in white. it's fine but what's with the super high nut? I own gibson, kramer, jackson, other Ibanez, bc rich, fender, prs and others. none are that high at the nut. can I just buy a lower nut I mean so the strings will be lower at the first frets. I like low action and this would help the overall action. it's like 3 times to high. I will have to file down the groove were the strings sit or file down the wood under the metal nut but I dont like that because it wood mean it's stronger and I would take a lot off. all other guitar I have are 3 times lower, I would expect this on a Walmart guitar or something. I very suprised by this on a Ibanez. realy sucks. sorry for the bad spelling I am french. If I can get a lower one please give me the link for the righ one... anyone thanks.
@@christineblack4654 Take the screws out and see if there and shim or piece of sand paper under it if it used sometime people shim the locking nut to compensate lack of knowledge on how to set up a guitar or maybe they have a unique set up preferences. Without measuring it and knowing the height and the height ur going for its hard to just go find a link for a new one. I have filed metal locking nut slots down before but it should be a last resort. Im also assuming uve checked your neck relief and action and everything else first and made sure thats all where it needs to be. I didn’t have the issue with mine
@@SIX1NINEGUITARSANDGEAR ya I like low action. it's ok at the other end lol yes everything is good other wise. it's simply the nut is freaken high. I havent checked for shims yet( lack of time) but I will, but at first glance nothing seems to be there. it's simply like they put the wrong nut or something. very weir for Ibanez. thanks. it's like almost 1/8 high lmfao it's an fn nightmare. it's like they got the specs wrong, if it's the righ nut then the freaken cut of the wood is wrong lol know what I mean?I will take the strings off an try and get to the bottom of this. it sucks cuz I know it's a good guitar other than this nut thing. no ajustments will do it's realy on the nut side, it's gonna drive me nuts lol get it?
did he just say this thing has a "swamp ass" body? kinda gives the term..G.A.S. ..whole new meaning
I hear nothing but good things about solar guitars. I'd really like to get one and try one out for myself. They just don't have many options for the lefties.
I've got a EC1000 that came with the coil split push/pull stuff. And it does in fact have stainless steel frets as well. But mine came with EMG 81/60 pickups not Duncans. I don't really care much for the push/pull coil splitting but otherwise it's a great guitar! Sounds and plays amazing!
Please ! Can you weigh this guitar ? Thks
great video man! Thank you so much for this review!!
How much does it weigh?
Thanks for sharing dude! Really appreciate the tips and insight of your compact setup. With how expensive Stewmac and Music Nomad products can be, it's valuable to find cheap alternatives which don't overly sacrifice quality at a fraction of the cost. I'll certainly be heading to Harbor Freight in the future to fill some gaps in my tool collection; you can never have too many😆

Do you get the same end result hardness (2k vs 1k) after the proper cure times? Can you put 2k over 1k? Can you put gloss over matte clear? I have a can of 1k gloss and matt each. Over crackle. Thinking to use up the matte then then gloss then 2k gloss (if necessary). Seems the gloss would override the matte.
Yeah best crackle I could find on UA-cam. That neon green and black is sick.

i wished i knew Jackson/Charvel way to get huge crackle
@@DrMurdercock theres a bunch of diff ways to get all doff style crackle mines the more striaght line crackle but i also like the splintered crackle looks to i think u get that with letting the base coat dry longer but i haven’t experimented with that yet
@@SIX1NINEGUITARSANDGEAR I've not experimented at all with crackle yet. I remember using it YEARS ago for something but don't remember what lol. I love the Brandon Ellis crackle jobs, Jackson has the crackle down to an art. SOMEONE knows their method online, just gotta find him lol

Are you new to guitars?… That is a Floyd Rose bridge 😂
@@helio1055 floyd rose is not the brand of that bridge its a floyd style trem but not made by floyd rose.

I Was gonna get this, but saw ltd kirk hammett 202 at the same price (used) lucky me.
Great riff my man, need it in my riff list for sure. You remember what tuning you used for it? Rocking the same Ibanez.
I’m thinking about getting my first Ibanez and was wondering if the Jem Jr is 3/4 size? I hope not because I love that guitar but the Jr bit confuses me.
@@MoreDeuce434 no its full size the regular jem is just super expensive the jr is more affordable
@@SIX1NINEGUITARSANDGEAR Brilliant!! Thanks!
Love all three of them!
After owning this for a few months what are your thoughts? Likes/dislikes? I've been looking at this model for well over a year now...either going with active pickups or possibly a schecter super shredder exotic. I've been playing a les paul standard pro for a few years, it's time for an upgrade. Thanks in advance!
@@stephenhunt-rj3zo get it ! I have an h100 that got refinished and modded that I won, it's amazing
Thanks for sharing dude. All three of those LTD's are killer. I own a LTD Viper-256 which was an old dream guitar of mine back when I was a teenager and couldn't yet afford one. (back when Fallon Bowman played for Kittie). Your vids are making want to get some more LTD's for my collection😆 I love the F series line., but the current offerings are limited. Really want a dual hum w/fixed bridge (like the old F-400FM). Was going to pull the trigger on an LTD F-200 (and block the floyd rose), but it seems ESP halted production of them. IDK why 2024's offerings are so limited, it's like they killed off the F-series this year😞 I really hope your channel takes off man, you make great content and have great skill/taste in how you mod your guitars. What you did with your EART GW2 Pro was killer! (how I discovered your channel) I love open pore finishes; just picked up a PRS SE CE Custom 24 limited run in matte black w/ green grain filler from Sweetwater. It looks killer with the Matrix color scheme and plays amazing. Looking forward to future content; ROCK ON!🤘
@@Droops24 dude thank you so much i really really appreciate that! I have this same ibanez , can you install a hipshot bridge and change the input jack , pots etc ?
@@davidnoguera1470 yea you could depending in what hipshot model ud have to redrill mounting holes and u can def change the electronics as far as the outout jack because of the style that is in there you would have to bore that hole in the body bigger for sure

Bro im going to get one of these do i always need batterys to play this guitar? If i dont want the sustain
This model didnt have the sustainiac pickup but it still needs a battery for the active emg pickups otherwise it would pass little to no signal
@@SIX1NINEGUITARSANDGEAR yes am I going to face any issues with the bridge? Any other issues in wiring as this is a emg based pickup guitar
Thjank you so much, i just bouight a cheap headless guitar with this bridge and the action was really high as fuck so I was needing some guidance about the adjustment, you did god's job!!
StaNDBY SWICTH ON bACK WAS A DUMB IDEA IMO. who wants to feel for the swic th lol or better yet pick the amp up & turn it around when your done playing.
iM FRIKKIN THOUROUGHLY CONFUSED ON WHAT AMP TO BUY. Question, for anyone who has played this guitar and the Kramer Striker, which model is overall the better guitar, build quality wise?

Nice to see it's so dialed up fretwork wise. My 2013 needs some work in that area, I'm still hesitating between spot leveling or pulling out the beam. Otherwise they're very good guitars, I'll say I still think my ESPs and Edwards are a notch above my 1000/600 series Ltds but YMMV. Is yours Indo or Korean?
Eart guitars are dollar for dollar the best guitars on the market with caveats. They make a fantastic neck and the fretwork is insanely good. I have owned 70 guitars or so and every one of them needed a fret leveling and some work to get them to play well, so don't ever expect any guitar under $2000 to be perfect. I'm also going to be honest and tell you that every Eart I own needed a fret leveling to get no buzz 1.5 mm off the low e 12th fret. I do it myself so it doesn't cost me anything but spend the extra money and get it properly leveled and crowned and you have an instrument that rivals almost anything on the market for a fraction of the price.
Look into some forstner bits. They drill clean holes in wood.
Love the video👍 I ordered one and it had terrible fret buzzing. Refunded it and bought a new one and it still had lots of fret buzzing at the lower frets on the E and A string. Any advice??
@@teqnifii4095 thanks for watching ! In sorry you had 2 crappy experiences id start with your set up neck relief, tune the guitar to pitch and check your relief then check your action if your relief is to much in either direction it can definetly cause buzzing to much back bow can cause buzzing in the middle of the fretboard and to much relief the opposite way can cause buzzing also start there then u can start checking for high frets and thats a whole diff story depending on you skills with working on guitars! Good luck and report back !
@@SIX1NINEGUITARSANDGEAR sent it to and expert and he Said it had unaligned frets. Got a refund
@@SIX1NINEGUITARSANDGEAR I ended up finding out the frets were messed up from the factory. So I returned it. 3 times the charm??? + Thanks for the advice.
That sound is sooooo beautiful 😊
I’m about to get this same guitar in a trade later today for a DC Kunkle 28.625” conversion baritone neck, Hipshot locking tuners, and a Wilkinson strat trem for one of these. Definitely going to get a single humbucker pickguard and an Instrumental Pickups SFTY4 bridge pickup in pink. I already have a pair of Gotoh black chrome tuners I’m going to swap out from my old Ibanez rgib6 and going to put a new SD volume pot and get rid of the switch selector and tone pot as well. Also will block off the trem and turn it into a hard tail pretty much. It’ll be my metalcore riff machine after I get done with it! I love modding my guitars and do almost every cheaper guitar I get to exactly how I want it. I’m a new subscriber and watched a few of your videos so far and we share the same interests of modding cheaper used guitars.
