I just went through this twice this Fall in the Texoma area in my Van. Twice went to shelter in campground. Finally left for the safety of the western side of the Rockies. Worst came at 3 am, pitch black, raining dogs and elephants running for shelter. The worst feeling realizing just how small and powerless you are in severe weather. Glad yall safe .

Imagine if this were your town, so yes please avoid Bend! I moved here 45 years ago when there was a population of 17,000. Bend has been on list after list of the top 10 towns to live in and now it has been bombarded with an influx of people moving here from the big cities. Now our crime rate is over the roof and I can't even find parking to take my dog to the river. Road rage is a daily problem because the roads were not meant to handle all this traffic. Housing costs have skyrocketed and for a while there you even find a place to live because out of states were taking it all. For those of us that call Bend home our lives have been turned upside down and it really sucks.

I would like to try living off grid but i so afraid a bad storms and tornadoes and people are evil when you live in a driving trailer mostly if you are a women

Like other comments i read, i wonder if the ditch idea is best in a tornado with so much water present? Idk id feel safer in a dry ditch but who knows. Everyone has their opinions here but truth is i dont know if anyone really knows the best choice!

Why in the heck would you stay in a van during tornado weather? Why didn’t you take that poor dog who was scared to death inside that building if y’all are gonna be stupid enough to stay in it at least you could save your dog.

I take my dog kayaking all the time. I wonder if she is like mine. She is very obnoxious and moves around a ton unless she is upfront where she can see ahead and then is is much more chill

You did EXACTLY THE RIGHT THING. I seen way to many people hurt in the last week driving in their cars or staying in mobile homes in tornadoes. The wind moved a little right, or left, bye bye van. This is how you live, congratulations. Smart moves saving you and your precious doggos lives.
