I have a question totally unrelated to the energy consumption issue and am curious about. I noticed you have the unit installed in one side of a double window. how did you attach the left bracket arm when there is no window frame there to screw it into?

Read your manual and you'll see the eco mode shut the fan down with the compressor to save power ...

You should make a note your Jackery is set at 110 volts. At the typical 120 volts you should see different power numbers & improved peak cooling performance. Also, this unit is rated at 710 watts. If you are running it on a 110 degree day for hours, the power consumption goes up considerably. This is true for all air conditioners.

i have the 8k and the 12k. you have to keep in mind that the watts does not stay constant but fluctuates. and so if you watch it for a long enough period the 8k unit will do 200-500. it also depends on the mode.. low, med, high. on low setting you can, on average, expect it to be in the 300-400 range.

I am on my way to buy an inverter window air conditioner at Amazon. Despite your video I read in reviews that installing this U-shaped air conditioner is rather laborious. However, once installed it gives you a lot of cooling power for your bedroom for the money! I am looking at a TCL 8,000 BTU window inverter air conditioner which is nice looking and should be similarly energy efficient. At just over 250W of power consumption on low fan speed with the compressor running and never reaching 500W on high, your Midea air conditioner is an example of a must-have for the summer heat!

Echo mode automatically adjusts the speed of the fan and compressor you have to give it time for it to calibrate every time you change something it starts the process all over again. Setting ot at 60 you will not get any benefit from echo. I have a 12000 btu it replaced a 6000 btu unit and uses about half the electricity the old did.

In 9 min. the power dropped down "98%". That's including the time it was off. I don't believe this unit will do the job. Why would you want to use this for camping? You can't cool the tent all day and night. You would need two units. One on recharge from your generator and one running the AC. Running a generator (constantly) would save you more money than using these power packs. And if you decided to use this unit for your bedroom (in power outages), Wouldn't you need two for your refrigerator, or more? Can I sell you the Brooklyn Bridge? 40% off if you buy in the next 2,000 years.

400 watts... rediculous. I have a regular 12000 unit and it consumes 1400 to 1800 watts when co.pressor is running. I bought one of these for my kids room and it runs all the time my electric bill jumped very little. Impressive.

I have one of these. Bought it the winter time of 2022 or beginning of 2023. Has been in my trailer for about 1.5 years. It has been running most of the time except for winter when it is below 70 here. I just did a test to see how long it would run off my battery bank in my trailer. I have about 700 amp hours worth of battery power. I cooled the trailer to 70 degrees, shut off my solar charging and ran the unit set at 70 for 31 hours until my inverter shut off on low battery power. It was 83 to 88 ambient temp outside during the day and around 70 at night, and the trailer is not insulated. It maintained that set temp the entire time and ramped up when needed. Mostly pulled 200 watts up to 500 watts when needed. It is a great unit and is very quiet. My old inverter was louder than the air conditioner has ever been. My new inverter is so quiet that I can actually hear the blower running on the ac now.

Interesting. The spec sheet doesn't show usage for this unit, but the 12000BTU unit claims 1140 watts. I'm sure that's only when on the highest settings possible though.

You have the PCC brace not a ARP brace for rifle caliber. You have rifle caliber upper and pistol caliber brace, I don’t think it’s suppose to be like that. It’s just doesn’t make sense. Get the maxim defense ccs carbine length pdw brace with proper space for everything as normal

Awesome video. I purchased the 12k btu Midea U-shaped, from Costco manufactured in november 2023. It was on promo for $279.99 plus tax. What a deal!! Yes, very quiet unit. Haven’t officially tested the kWh on it yet. 15 CEER rating! I have seen other videos and these U-shape models have a lot of interesting/impressive electrical components inside, the heat sync is huge. Condensate is meant to cool the condenser coil so unit must be mounted with a certain degree of tilt. One thing the manual lacked but could be found on the box was not to run the unit just after shipping or having the unit on its side (which the average consumer may not know). I think the combination between the small design, electrical components and the use of R-32 refrigerant all make this unit a power saver. I have used this unit now for several weeks and am 100 percent satisfied with it! I made a plywood cut out and stuck it in my balcony window. When on high the fan can be reasonably felt at 15 feet away. If anyone knows the decimal rating I would be interested in knowing, especially for the 12k btu unit.

Also that 500 w you're reading is only on startup when everything ramps up once it starts to dial back the wattage will drop off

I think these are a very wise option for a lot of us, I love old air conditioners myself I'm talking 40 years old 50 years old plus with real compressors and real components, however to have inverter technology in such a small package these things will probably burn half as much if not less then half as much as a conventional on off air conditioner of the modern-day, as far as inverter Central units probably will use more power than just using these it's even more efficient than a ductless mini-split in my opinion I don't know what the longevity of these are but I recommend plugging them into a single outlet surge protector say about 1800 w 1500 w capacity protector. They say they only last 8 years but I'm sure they'll last longer even if the software for your Wi-Fi stuff is outdated. I think for the price they're very affordable and we should snap them up while they're cheap before people realize that they are gold in a box.

Wow this midea is efficient. I initially thought and its all over google rule of thumb if its 8000 btu it runs at 800 watts. I mean my portable LG is 12000 btu and it does run about 1200 watts. This window Midea ACs are fairly cheap. Might pick up a 5000 BTU for camping lol

"Auto" mode is the most efficient on Midea U-Shaped. It will cycle the compressor as needed. But yes, it's based on indoor room temp and outside room temp and what you have to temp dialed on the unit. IE... outside temp: 87 degrees, indoor actual temp 79 degrees and you have the a/c set to 74... it will go full tilt until the compressor and condenser are fully cool and functional.. then it will cycle down (use less power) to maintain an outlet temp to cool the room to 74.

Midea customer service is the worst. After a month of haggling, they denied warranty reimbursement on a new unit with 8 hours on it.

My Frigidaire uses 400w max, 50w on fan and has soft start that slowly ramps up, is much much cheaper, so unless this actually uses less power and has a working thermostat it could be a very expensive mistake. So the fan itself uses how much and how does the thermostat work? Not sure if this can fit in my windows either.

I have one. Inherited it, but it was basically not used. Cleaned it up and lubed it really good. Put about 100 rounds through it. My issue is the slide will lock open after 2 or 3 rounds like the mag is empty. I can slingshot it back closed and shoot, it it did it like 5 times in 100 rounds. I’ll never carry it for that reason. Don’t trust it.

For how long

ECO mode is very effective but, you have the demand temperature set to the lowest setting in this video. The unit is going to continue doing whatever it takes to achieve your requested temperature, 60F being unrealistically low to be running economically. These Midea units do not run the fan constantly when in eco mode. Instead, the fan will turn on in a low speed every once in a while to "feel" the room and keep air circulated.
