I Made an Outdoor Extension Cord So You Can Too!
In this episode I make an outdoor extension cord from a spare PC power cord and outdoor receptacle that I had lying around in my spare parts bin(s). I clean, wire, secure and retrofit the extension cord in this video, carefully going over safety and the way the different wires in the power cord connect to the outlet.

Subaru Headlight Yellowing Fix

I recently bought the Blue Fox (a 2005 Subaru Forester 2.5x @ 200K km) to help me work on a house I am rehabbing in Canada. The car, being 15 years old, has a multitude of little (and some not so little) problems that are common for a vehicle of this age. One of the more common problems with a vehicle that is more than a decade old is yellowed headlights. Not only are they unsightly, yellow hea...
Subaru - Pull Mist Lever Not Working

On Day 2 of owning the 2005 Subaru Forester 2.5X I was presented with yet another mysterious situation...the windshield wiper fluid didn't seem to be working! When it comes to my 2006 Mitsubishi Outlander, when I pull back on the wiper control arm, the wiper juice pump(s) kick in, juice sprays on the windshield and the wipers move. Not so with the Subaru! When I pulled back on the wiper arm, th...

This 2005 Subaru Forester 2.5X has many, many problems to discover and diagnose - some obvious and some more mysterious and hidden! The first problem to fix with this car was really obvious and quite serious. The only physical lock (the driver door lock) was not working right. It was *imposs...
Samsung Plasma TV Rescue - PART 4
Переглядів 464 роки тому
I found an abandoned Samsung Plasma TV (PS-42S5H) on the roadside, and decided to see if I could rescue it. The TV was in a completely unknown state, along with its remote control, so I had to do a complete troubleshooting cycle on the TV and its remote. Watch as I systematically move through the stages of troubleshooting towards an (ultimately) successful resolution.

Thank you so much, I fiddled around for a while and it turned out to be the 8 pins on the right side of the right cable. Back to normal now thanks to you 👏👌👍 LG 55UJ752T
My tv went crazy too.. hope this video can solve my problem.. thx
Which model of ipad i should have ? First generation only ? Which means ipad 1 ?
With this kind of corrosion, buy new ones...
Another success story here! Thank you for this video.
Did you get EZ-Rider going? How was that exhaust did the bike run well and have good power throughout the rev range? I am doing something similar and although I like the look I am reluctant to buy an exhaust to make it run worse. Thanks for making your video it all helps people like me.
Sir thank you for this trick, you save me a hundred of bucks. Will subscribe and follow you sir.❤
Thank you very much man, how do I solve same problem with LG 43LF5100 Thanks.
My LG 43LF5100 has the same fault like TV you just fixed. How do I solve that of the lg model above.
My lg TV has the screen problem like the me you just fixed here. How do I fix that of lg with this model number LG 43LF5100
Thank you very much for your said response. Please how I repair or solve LG 43LF5100 flinching screen.
Thank you very much for the teaching. Please how do I know which of the flex that is back?
Can you please re-phrase your question. I don't understand what you want....
You saved my TV. May you earn a place in heaven for this.
Can you paint this? You could use heat and water resistant contact paper that looks like marble to make it even fancier.
Nice job though i would have put the hanging lip over the side with the backing that makes the kallax stiffer. The way you did it makes it harder to put things in and take them out of the cubby holes because you have to duck under the lip
Love it ❤
Thanks!
Just to confirm, this means two keys, one for the door (IF the battery is dead) and the usual ignition key.
If you change the cylinder then the key will be different between the ignition and the door, yes.
I personally use some 25mm brass wire wheels in my drill to remove corrosion and stuck on brake dust. They'd fit well in your rotary tool too. They do a great job of removing the crap without damaging the chrome. Then polish them up on the bench grinder with a buffing wheel and a small smear of brasso. Polishing highlights any small spots of corrosion or stubborn grime that I've missed, so I hit those areas with the wire wheels again and then back to the bench grinder for a final polish. They come out mirror smooth, much smoother than what you have here, and slide so nicely.
Yes! That's a great idea as brass is softer than steel and will not scratch it. Wonderful idea! The bench buffer/brasso idea is also an excellent suggestion. Wonderful and thanks so much for such a helpful comment!
My partner was in the electrical goods store, sending me photos of a cheap TV she was about to buy, when I got the tape onto the correct pins and eliminated all flicker and lines. I immediately sent her video proof and saved us both money and the indignity of a basic TV. For that I thank you.
Glad to have helped!
Do you know what exactly this fix is doing? Presumably it's stopping a row of pixels or a parallel data line. Normally doing this would stop a TV or any such device working but in this case somehow magically it fixes a problem. I wonder if it something to do with interlacing and thus you are cutting out every other screen refresh. This may be visible as a picture degradation, especially on fast moving images.
Good guess. This fix cuts half the video signal for double the viewing pleasure. Thanks for your comment!
Thanks a million for this video, i can't believe it actually worked! I fixed a faulty LG 49UH661v, masked off about 12 pins on ribbon 1 after some trial and error. A couple of notes, the control panel ribbons are detached by wiggling and pulling gently, I spent a while worrying i would damage them before just pulling harder with my fingernail on the catch. And the back of the tv required a LOT of careful prying along the sides before the back would release pop by pop. Patience is key. Thanks so much again - such a valuable video.
Your comments are spot-on. You have to be gentle with the prying of the TV back off, and yes, the ribbon cable is tricky (at first) to detach. Glad you figured all of that out and I am sure your comments will help others in the future, so thanks!
Thank you so much for video! We had the exact same problem and were searching for a solution for hours
Glad to have been of service! So glad your situation worked out!
Thank you. I have a 2000 outback legacy with the same problem and will use this video to repair it. I removed the driver side door once before and the worst part was unplugging the plastic pieces that deliver the power to the doors components. They are extremely cheap and garbage so be careful when trying to unplug them.
Quite correct. The plastic was not brittle when installed, but temperature variations and age are the true enemies of plastic, so be extra careful when dislodging those plastic pieces, because they are HARD to replace. Well done.
Doh! So, the broken part of my system is -me- . Thanks for letting me know it's not -just me-.
Hahahaha - I had a similar moment myself when I realized this was a 1D10T class problem. Subaru really should re-engineer this part of the control system, the rest is so great and intuitive by comparison!
HELLO FROM UUNITED COMDOM!!!! THANK YOU FOR FIX MY TELEVISION I LOVE YOUI
Our M4700 came with the AMD FirePro M4000 Mobility Pro dedicated GPU option. I'm interested in modifying this machine to work with an nVidia Quadro K2000M GPU card that we bought for a very good price. Obviously, I'm not trying to do this to realize any serious graphics performance gain. Instead, I'd like to modify this machine so that it sees its dedicated GPU as being "switchable" in BIOS. Considering that the nVidia Quadro K2000M was an option for this machine while it was being sold, I'm hoping that this might be possible. As we've had a very bad experience with a dedicated AMD GPU -- and an expensive laptop - in the past, I really like the idea of being to: (1) Switch to nVidia and (2) Have the ability to turn OFF the dedicated GPU and, instead, use the integrated GPU in an emergency. Sure, it's a lot of trouble for an old machine, but we use it to run old 32-bit utilities, so we would like to keep this machine in operation for as long as possible. I've both liked and subscribed now, so please keep on making informative videos like this one for your fellow M4700 owners! 👍
The GPU board in the DELL PRECISION series is swappable, so you can upgrade it. After all, that's how DELL offered the upgrades when provisioning the machine in the first place, at point of sale. Just be careful that whatever board you put in was "flashed for DELL" in terms of the firmware, or you may not get a boot-able laptop in the end. Incidentally, I just installed an ATI RADEON 3470 into a desktop-style HTPC with a mis-behaving onboard GPU to extend its service life by a little bit. I didn't disable the GPU in BIOS because it wasn't an option. Instead, I disabled it in Devices Vies at the Operating System (Windows) level. After some fiddling around with primary displays and the like, because the machine still considered the onboard GPU Display 1, the machine now works like a champ on Display 2.
Did it Thank you so much I never tried opening a TV before so I was scared at first but thanks to your accurate instructions it worked within a 3 tries of the tape
Three tries? You are a CHAMP at this as I personally had to do it many more times than you to get the same results!
I would get one
They're fun, but the build quality is...um...junk? I actually broke it (wires snapped off) so I will have to cut a repair video on it just as soon as I have a little time. Also, the lithium battery didn't last all that long. I didn't expect too much for such a low-cost device, and I sure got that...
O dear....golden rule...do not use pliers or any other tool on the outside of the pistons as this will mark the sweeping surface which will potentially leak brake fluid. Also a good tip is to loosen all caliper body bolts while still on the bike, which is the best "vice" you'll get. Good luck and safe riding
You are absolutely right. Pliers + Pistons = Trouble. Scoring the polished surface of the pistons can result in brake fluid "bleeding" past the seals. Thanks for being so gentle about mentioning that, and it certainly isn't for the faint of heart as it may have an effect on stopping power just when you might need it the most. But a high polish may help to prevent or even avoid leaking. If you haven't yet, look up the Indian companies that straighten and refurbish the hydraulics for Heavy Equipment for a fascinating watch. I also thank you for advice on how/when to deal with ejecting pistons, which is usually best done with them still connected to the bike. Gracias!
I love that symbol when you can't make it work just get a bigger hammer😂 there that ought to fix it
Hahaha - to me, everything looks like a nail sometimes.... Too true - that the tools at hand frame the solution, which may explain why I, like many men, have a tool fetish...
Thanks for the tip. Done it om same model tv. Cable 1 for me, but now the screen seems to be flickering through backlight. Could this be because i havent covered enough pins on #1?
Same here
@@salomaochlm try covering less pins and move down the cable. I ended up doing it and it solved it. Think i missed the 1st 4pins, maybe 5 if that helps you
@@mattevans8248, thank you for the answer! I did more some modifications and now it's better :)
It's wonderful to see viewers helping other viewers! Great job! Thanks!
Thank you so much, it worked on my 49UJ620V-ZA, fix was just like yours! Just taping the first 12 on the 2nd channel and good to go!
So glad it all worked out for you!
thanks man, fixed my tv for the 4th different problem now. wont die. big thank you
You sound like a man after my own heart. The more I fix something, the more invested, sentimental and reluctant I am to cast it aside. Loyalty matters.
u can use scotch brite dish sponge aswell
Oh yes, they are fantastic for polishing. I've seen them used many times for this purpose and a WONDERFUL suggestion. Thanks!
works perfectly on thomson 43ud6306
So is it not the tcon card??
In my case it was the Motherboard, but that depends on your particular TV configuration. Most TV have a Power Board that is to be avoided and separate from the other boards, and then some combination of Processing and I/O boards. Some TV's have integrated Processing+I/O, some separate boards for Processing and IO. When you open the back, you can usually tell because you have either 2 or 3 boards present.
Too much talking...dude get on with it...we just want to see the "how to"
I have heard that MANY TIMES before, sadly. From Supervisors, Students, Family and even my Spouse. The struggle is staying true to myself while I transition to a more concise style. Stay tuned. I am getting help.
I liked hearing your thought process. You told me things I didn't consider, like how to balance where you put the table top so the thing doesn't tip over. Thanks!
Tda7265
We are talking about the TDA7625 Power Amplifier because? It looks nice! "The TDA7265 is class AB dual Audio power amplifier assembled in the Multiwatt package, specially designed for high quality sound application as Hi-Fi..." www.st.com/resource/en/datasheet/tda7265.pdf
The pull portion is for a misted windscreen. Not to mist the windscreen. We are just used to other vehicles. It’s in the owners manual.
Absolutely right. Subaru is definitely subverting expectations here...and yes RTFM (my bad)! It was a rant... :)
I have just fixed my TV with this tutorial. But how long could it last? And what causes the problem?
I did this fix late 2022, and the TV worked fine for about a year - I just noticed now that the problem is back - has anyone experienced something similar?
Eventually the TV will probably die. Mine did. So I bought a 2nd hand replacement board and guess what? Same problem, same tape!
is it safe to sand pliers marks on the piston ?
It is generally not recommended to sand piston plier marks away from a piston. Piston plier marks are usually small indents or scratches on the surface of the piston that are left behind after using piston pliers to remove or install piston rings. Sanding or grinding away the marks can change the shape of the piston, which can affect its performance and cause damage. Additionally, removing too much material from the piston can cause it to become weaker and more prone to failure. If the piston plier marks are minor and not affecting the piston's performance, it is usually best to leave them alone. However, if the marks are deep or causing issues with the piston's operation, it may be necessary to replace the piston rather than attempting to sand or grind away the marks.
dont use plier to remove the piston
Understood. The pistons were so seized in place, there was no other way. I ended up replacing them AND buying piston pliers too.
Yes, polishing and sanding can change the profile and the effectiveness of the seal. Absolutely correct.
I am interested
so, you have failed to solve the problem.
It was never a problem with the Subaru. It was a BTCATC or ID10T problem.
It was the cable 1 for me, LG 43UJ635T it was so hard, and now it show it ok and a weird like 3 seg minimal light change, but i might mess around it another day, THANK YOU SO MUCH, lots of love-
Same here
My pleasure! Glad it worked out!
My pleasure!
I am having the same noise from the board for my cooler. The board for mine is not the same as yours, and they have gone up quite a bit in price, so I want to fix it. A couple of quick questions. If I test the transistors, and they test out as not completely blown, (power flowing one way, and not the other), could they still be an issue? Do they go bad without having complete failure? Also, what is the component next to the transistor you replaced with the coil around it? Is that an induction coil? Could that guy be the problem? Many thanks!
Generally speaking it's not going to be the coil that fails (yes, that part is an induction coil). In these switched mode power supplies (SMPS) the components that tend to fail are somewhere else. Have a look at Learn Electronics Repair and Haseeb Electronics for tips on SMPS troubleshooting and BE CAREFUL as the voltages involved routinely approach 400v!
@@MYMANTHEMAKER Thanks for the reply! I ended up just rigging a power supply with a thermostat to run mine. I’m using it as a cigar coolidor. So that’s working out pretty good. I just wanted to have the variable fan speed for a more stable temp. With my setup it’s just on or off. But still keeps them nice and fresh. 😂
I did it but it's still flickering
You haven't masked the right traces then. Keep going. Also, remember there's two cables to troubleshoot...
Great tutorial. Just fixed my 6 year old LG TV with this. Thanks!
I am so glad!
Thank you very much, Mr My Man The Maker, for this generous video recording. The repair advice worked nicely for my 55" LG Model 55UH652T-TA. I spent about 1 hr on the phone to LG customer support and they did not want to touch it because it was 'out of warranty'. I should have rather put the hour towards following the instructions in your video instead - that's about how long it took me to fix the TV - using the piece of sticky tape ☺The biggest 'surprise' was when I turned on the TV and - drum roll - it actually worked, incredible!!! This is internet at its best - thank you so much for generously sharing your knowledge with the world. Kind greetings from Brisbane, Australia.
it worked fine for over a year 🙂 - but the problem just returned 😞
@@planetprepare Oh 😐Could you solve it again by this Taping method?
Awsome trick man, this worked on my LG 55 inch TV. Hatsoff to you.
Thanks for leaving a comment! Did you subscribe? :)
This is only one 1 of the sides is broken if you have 2 no body cant repair
Yes, that's correct. If both sides are broken then you need to either re-seat the CPU by re-flowing the solder...or replace the board.
Great video. Still useful years later
I'm so glad to hear it. Did you subscribe? :)
