I was wondering, is there a way to do a perspective switch, like how you have the overhead map and then switch to sidescroller on an encounter like how Zelda II works? I was working with someone that might have that approach and I'd like to know if it was possible at all or not.
@@Firestorm2900 Hey, you sure can! U just need to make two different map with the different prospective and teleport the player between them
possible to make an attack ? with collision event or something ? tried to get x-y of player and an event as a hitbox to teleport it beside the character when a button is pressed but no work so idk
When playtesting the game, I often just get a black screen! does anyone know how to fix that? It started happening after I applied the options explained in "Map Layer Loader" (5:11) in this video.

Thank you for this template and your tutorial, studying it gave me the inspiration for my own project! Though I do have a question on the plugins used. In your side-scroller template, you are using a bunch of plugins, some of which don't have an official site listed, or it's not available anymore, making it difficult to check their legal status. Seeing how DK_Big_Events needs to be bought (subscription, or one-time fee of $35+) in order to be used in commercial projects, could you tell if some of the other plugins have similar stipulations? I'm talking about FixedDirectionHorizontal and ZE - Key Mapper. Also, it took me a while to find out how you put the control scheme on the screen - it wasn't in the common events OR the plugins. Took me triple checking it to think "wait, maybe it's in a script or a png in an autorun event". Which it was (8
Amazing! Is there a way to add followers to a project with this platformer mechanics?
Sadly nope, the plugin TMJump Action seems to block the followers at the spawn point :(
@@sidemv what about event followers? Maybe you know a way to force events to use jump when following a player? Sorry if I'm annoying

Hello, how do you make the main character's sprite be "!Sprite2"? I don't understand, in the database in the "Actors" tab there is nothing assigned.
The preview of the player in the database is transparent because the spritesheet is very large and has many blanks. Click on the player sprite box and you will see that the sprite is there ;)

thank you for the tutorial! unfortunately my RPG maker MV (mac) keeps crashing randomly, do you know if the plugins and everything work in MZ? coz I'm thinking if it'll work better on it
The plugins used in the tutorial are also available in MZ versions, you can find them on Galv's site :)

Your content is amazing! There is only one thing I don't get: why creating a separate map for some layers and transfer player from there? Can't those effects/layers events trigger on the same map?
Hey @sidnairain Galv layer graphics allows you to use a command in the map notes to generate parallax layers when you access them. In this case, as a matter of mental clarity, I separated the loading, filters and settings into a separate map, keeping the main map lighter from events. This is my way of dealing with maps, although the approach you are referring to is faster and more effective :)
@@sidemv finally makes sense :) with the amount of details and filters you have, it is easier to organize this way. I just thought maybe it's essential or something will go wrong if I overlook this step though it seems to be working without 😅 Thank you! Hope to catch your next stream live

I’m curious if it’s still possible to implement regular front view battles in a side scroller if you would run into an enemy 🤔 I don’t see why not, but can’t say I’ve ever seen an example 🤷♂️
I’ve made it years ago, yes it’s still possible with MV
That's right, the sidescroller mechanics do not change the battle system, only the player's movement on the map ;)

How can people keep track of when you stream I don't see a schedule? I wouldn't mind watching and asking some questions but I always miss the streams since I never see any heads up, maybe YT is bad at distributing them. Also not sure if that's intended to be a discord link in description. Dunno what to do with that.
At the moment I have not yet planned specific days for live shows, but I will as soon as I figure out the best times and days for you guys

It is important to read the plugins terms of use, you can usually find them on the site from where you download the plugin itself :)
