I finally read Jurassic Park...BOOK REVIEW 🦖
Would love to hear your thoughts on the other 3 books! I plan to read the series this year
Hyperion is the name of my 4 mast Yacht. 😅
you should read 3 body problem. It's the best sci fi series in my opinion.
I only read both the first and second books last year and it ruined all the movies for me. I don't think I will ever enjoy the movies again like I used to. So many things, if they only had to adapt it as it was, sigh.
The thing is. Jason's home reality contains billions of people that constantly make dicisions, hence that reality will spilit many times faster then he will. So the chance more then one of him will end up in the same reality is astomonicly unlikely.
In a hole in the ground, there lived...
What we really need is a theatrical audiobook version of Jurassic Park, complete with dinosaur sounds, all the random ambient noises that take place, weather changes, and soundtrack in the background.
I read the 1st 3 books I read your title and was about to cuss you out good video
“Mr. and Mrs. Dursley of Number 4 Privet Drive were proud to say that they were perfectly normal, thank you very much.”
First time reading through the series. Definitely worth reading the books in between it makes it so much cooler to know The call backs. Amazing series I’m a huge cosmere nerd and after WAT I was getting burnt out on fantasy and this is the perfect pallet cleanser for me
This book is so bad. I don't understand why the ratings are so high. 95% of the book is over-talked, frustratingly boring, unrelated stories. The ending? There's not even an ending here. The book simply ends at a key point. Probably the biggest disappointment in my reading history so far.
There’s a sequel it intentionally doesn’t have a real ending
Farcaster - you mean Star trek transporter. The Shrike is a cool terminator cyborg. But nobody blesses his coming and going. Herbert gives you so much in a tiny detail : “Muad'Dib is wise in the ways of the desert. Muad'Dib creates his own water. Muad'Dib hides from the sun and travels in the cool night. Muad'Dib is fruitful and multiplies over the land. Muad'Dib we call 'instructor-of-boys.' That is a powerful base on which to build your life, Paul-Muad'Dib.”
Hyperion is just sci fi Canterbury Tales. And by the time it eventually drags itself to a conclusion, you get the most lame reveal / plot twist. Hyperion starts amazing strong and finishes super weak - haven’t had that big a let down since Dark Tower.
Your videos are great but there's a lot of table thumping noise. For me that's kinda distracting. Could it be eliminated? Thanks. Looking forward to watching more of your videos. ✨
You definitely didn't miss anything. Not only does Alan not dislike children at the start of the book, he actually gets along with children really well because they "like dinosaurs as much as he does".
Fun rundown - my plan is read through both series this year. Great overview without spoilers guys loved it.
Dude, your background music is too loud for your soft voice
Hey. Loved this book. Have you read Prey yet? I think that one's my favourite after Jurassic Park!
Next videos, please reduce the music, it is enjoying when the music is louder than your voice.
I keep hearing a lot of people say they have trouble finishing the book
"The sky above the port was the color of television, tuned to a dead channel."
Great review!
music is a bit too loud in the sound mix mate.
Dark tower book one has the tip top first sentence
Nice vid. You're reading Armitage incorrectly though *Artimage > Armitage
Thank god. Now I don’t have to waste my time watching another fucking multiverse movie
I cant believe I went 30 years of my life not reading this book. Holy cow is it freaking good! This is a book they will be still be reading 200 years from now
Prose - both Wordbiolding - GOT Characters - both Political intrigues and plots - GOT Religion - GOT Political structure - GOT Magic - GOT Completed lores and mysteries - The first law Thank you All my opinions
"Hyperion": Hyper Ion
Oh my!! The movie Coherence is along these lines.
Blade itself was a drag for me. So cartoony. Fantasy genre has been a laughing stock since tolkien. Not a good story almist anywhere
Im noticing a disturbing lack of Terry Pratchett books on your bookshelf😢
I love the world that Tim created, I can't wait for more from him.
What! You mention it, but no look at your Tattoo?
when i finished Hyperion i decided i will read it again when im older and cannot remember that much from the book , because i want to experience the same like the first time i read it.. a monster of a book
When you look deeper into both series, there aren't that many similarities BUT on the purely surface level, both Sun Eater and Red Rising are very similar. They both have extremely badass male protagonists narrating their tale in first person in an epic Greco-Roman inspired space setting. But other than that, they're pretty disimilar. But you have to keep in mind, that surface level comparison is what makes a lot of fans on one series pick up the other. I love both series but for completely different reasons. Red Rising is fun, cheesy and full of action while Sun Eater is a lot more introspective, philosophical and much deeper. It sucks that fans of one series tend to shit on the other so much. In terms of prose, Sun Eater is much stronger but I think Red Rising's prose is very underrated. It is so personal and visceral. I personally like the side characters in Red Rising a lot more than I did in Sun Eater and I think Pierce Brown is much better at epic grandscale action which I'm pretty sure I have heard Chris admit he is weak at. but I don't think I have read a protagonist in fiction quite as compelling as Hadrian Marlowe.
Totally agree about the poet’s tale.
either "i would have lived in peace, but my enemies brought me war." or the way of kings but some already mention that.
Anyone know if the book is a visual novel? My copy is coming Friday the 6th December 2024
“Ash fell from the Sky”- from Mistborn and “I heard the mailman approach my office door half an hour earlier than usual.”- from Storm Front the first book of The Dresden Files
the first sentence of the book I opened said "This book is dedicated to the memory of those who have made the world a better place by achieving the seemingly impossible."
This is gonna be random but I’m choosing between 2 books. Empire of Silence and The Way of Kings. Both have glowing reviews but not sure which one is the better read.
Just pick one and go. I loved suneater. Favorite series ever. Starting way of kings next
Really impressive accomplishment---congrats! I'll need to pick a copy up sometime.
The scholars tale got me so deep, that it too me two weeks to get over it.
I started reading Hyperion right after my son was born. Imagine what Sol's story can do to a newborn father's mind.
Hyperion is a masterpiece but no one ever remembers that the storia DOES NOT END with Hyperion; The End of Hyperion is as good as the first chapter, for different reasons than the first chapter but every bit as fascinating
The fall* of hyperion
Both books hooked me right off the go but I can’t finish Iron Gold; Sun eater has only hooked me more
Please, please.. stop putting snow crash on cyberpunk lists. Snow Crash isn't cyberpunk, it's nonsensical satire that makes FUN of the whole concept. It's written by a man that looks down on cyberpunk and can't stand the idea that his most popular book is snow crash. I don't understand why so many people don't seem to get it.. it's so obvious from reading the book. I remember being super hyped for snow crash, almost buying that very beautiful hardcover/deluxe/anniversary edition. But deciding to try reading it on my ereader first. Boy was I glad that I did. It immediately became clear to me that this was a satire. It wasn't a serious cyberpunk book. It made fun of the genre and took something that's already pretty over the top and pushed it to 11. I also just really disliked it. Looked up the writer and some interviews and it was painful how much he seems to hate the whole idea of cyberpunk and how much he hates that snow crash is his most famous book. DNF'd it and I don't understand why it's on cyberpunk lists since you'd expect books on these lists to be actual cyberpunk books that appreciate the genre, not that satirize it. Like, it makes no sense to make a greatest fantasy books list then put a book on there that is clearly making fun of fantasy by a writer that looks down on it. P.s. I wish that easton press was available outside of the US. Their FAQ claims they've shipped to "collectors in 130 countries" but when you go to checkout the first thing they expect you to give is a US postal code. It's very disappointing since they seem to make some of the prettiest truly leatherbound books out there. EDIT: Do androids dream is also not cyberpunk. The movie is cyberpunk. Because that's what cyberpunk is, it's that late 70's to early 90's sci fi aesthetic, reaching it's height in the 80's. It's a corpo dystopia with a very particular punk aesthetic. Without it, it's not cyberpunk. There is modern cyberpunk, but there is very little. Takeshi Kovac is a a very successful example of modern cyberpunk for example. But there is really very little cyberpunk literature out there. That's why these lists are generally mostly non cyberpunk
Neuromancer was such a hard follow for me because i felt like so many times the author just expects you to connect the dots. There are parts especially following molly where i got super lost and had to go back over it time and time again to see where i messed up or what i could have missed. Fun story though and once i got the hang of it the later half of the book really came to play.
