    I don’t think we’re naturally but thicker. Our culture doesn’t even give kids a chance in 9/10 households. I was a fat kid until I started sports because of how my mom cooks. I am only in shape because I learned nutrition outside of her influence and I exercise several times a week.

    I agree with your points, but I don’t agree that we are naturally thicker or bigger than white women. We have higher bone density, which should only make us around 2-7 lbs (not 30-150 lbs) over the average weight. Our fat is what makes us severely overweight, not the muscle

    We need to Stop calling women who are obviously OBESE , “thick” this is normalized behavior amongst black people. They shame skinny or fit women and will say you need fat on your body. Men also contribute to this by desiring “thick” women.

    I think pretty privillage was a term invented by those who dislike pretty woman because of jealosy. Sure if you want to be a model, a star or something like that it is beneficial however do you want an more ordinary life woman will try to stop you from succesiding. That males look at you and objectify you and perople thinking you are not smart because you can't be both pretty and smart is not a privilliage.

    It is imperative to reiterate that this was not United States History. This was the history of Louisiana Territory which was under French and Spanish Rule and another country! Anglo Africans Americans history is the 13 Colony British U.S. Territory NOT Louisiana Territory History! This was specifically for Louisiana Creole, Free Women of Color etc. who were citizens of LA Country!!! Respectfully, Louisiana Creole People's history is well over 500 Years! The American educational system does a poor job explaining the various diasporas that took place here! You can expect folks who know their history to be protective of it!!!!! It's nothing personal! It is tiresome to see our history distorted by U.S. Namaste!!!

    I am an African American woman. I dont agree with BMI. I am 5'8 190 lbs, I look small, yet curvy. My blood pressure runs normal 109/72, 112/78 for example. All my labs are within normal range, with the exception of my 'good cholesterol' (HDL) it was recently 12 points too low, I have raised it 9 points by changing my diet. I have 3 more points to be in normal range. I also want to add that recently lost 50lbs. My goal was to lose 45. I've happily accepted the 50 lb weight loss as my new maintenance weight loss goal. Even at 50 lbs heavier, my labs were good with the exception of the HDL. I ate a ton of sweets, baked goods which kept it too low. The weight loss was personal preference, even though the rest of my blood work was still good at 240 lbs

    I agree. Let me say that I am on and off with my fitness, but I am back on and plan to stay on. I see how regular exercise is a basic fact of life. We bathe/shower daily, so we need to do the same for exercise. Even when I don't feel like exercising, I will lift weights for a few reps. In other words, do something even if it is just one jumping jack.

    I don’t follow celebrities. Most don’t have as much hair as I have. I grew up during the 60s and 70s. Our regime was simple: cleanse, condition, detangle and use of hair grease to condition and style our natural hair. I still use the same regime and my hair grows past my butt. Today, “Natural Hair” followers are doing way toooo much!!! The “Old School” regime is tried and true over many, many decades long before what’s called “The Natural Hair Movement.” Hell . . . It’s not a movement . . . It has always been here!!!

    Sis, I applaud you for this assessment. I do have to say that Black people are not a subspecies of . We are not exceptional. Our bones, bone density, frame, and shape are that of a typical human being. We are not "built differently." Certainly, there are some genetic predispositions, but being Black does not make us fatter than other groups of people.

    • @BCentricTV
      @BCentricTV 4 місяці тому

      Thank you! 💜 We are exceptional. We are original. I would never imply us being sub anything. Others came from us. Our body composition can differ. Of course I'm not speaking of the extreme. I've seen women weighing 200lbs and were far from out of shape. But according to the BMI they'd be overweight. The weight the BMI wants me to be, I don't want to be lol. It's too small. Weight is not the only factor. However, I recognize this as an issue we have in our community and honestly America period. 💜

    I know the excuses you make at the end have merit to some, but thankfully there were black people at the time who didn't give in to the idea that all things black=bad. I find it too difficult to reconcile celebrating someone as a black supermodel(first or otherwise) who tried so hard to distance herself from all things black.
