The crossing took an extra day!!!! Part 4 of 4
After enjoying the beautiful desert and slowly transitioning into the Salt lake end of the crossing we head out from our Salt lake camp in the Northern Territory. Heading for Poppels corner we cross Eyre creek and go have a look at the Corner. With a real bed, hot shower and pub feed on our minds we tackle big red (someone takes 5 goes at it) bit I get up eventually and on to Birdsville.

    Cool. No idea where the places are. Only heard of the Simpson. Mind you I'm in England. Just with an old N70 double cab but with factory rear diff locker.. And you Pedders heavy duty suspension

      The videos depict our journey to and from Sydney with the Simpson desert as our main objective. There is so much to see out the. The Oodnadatta track was a massive highlight and don't require a heavily modified 4wd as Long as it's reliable and doesn't mind corrugations. Check it out one day.

      @@AlwaysSearching.. I run a large jackhammer off it for work, air con in the caravan(when off grid), plus a bunch of other stuff and it’s never let me down. I used circuit breakers initially, for electrical protection, but they trip too early. Midi and Maxi fuses are the best option

      There are jack stands under there. We were just explaining that, if you’re out in the bush, the wheels are likely to be your only option, to catch the car, if it came off the jack.

    It's moments like these you need a Patrol......... 80 series front diff in forward direction is pissweak, in reverse the "strength" is far less.

      @@mattluszczak8095 Don't ask stupid questions mate. Of course they are not reverse rotation whatever the f*ck that even is. Patrol front diff is 100 times stronger than the Corolla unit in the 80 series. Ever see a comp truck with an 80 series front diff (or rear for that matter)? Ever see a comp truck without Nissan diffs? 60 series yes, 80 series never.

    You are only observing a static load on the front spring. Allowance must be made for a dynamic compression load at speed and under heavy braking. Those springs look about right to me, allows for more compression with weight transfer to the front, ie downhill, braking etc.

      Love the comment, although 🥺 It’s probably more to do with my lack of cleaning them, as they are usually covered in mud. They are Direction Plus and pretty good when cleaned 🧼

    Did you test how long it takes to pump up a 33” from 20psi to 40psi by any chance? I have a single thumper and wondering how fast they are

      I did a basic test but didn't switch my car on and got a flat battery. I will do one. I'd like to see what the amps do when filling 33s from 20 to 40psi. My 1st gen thumper was great back in the day.

      Yeah. There may be more out there with higher flow rates. Jut not at that price. I just saw a new 4 piston one advertised with electronic controls, 2 outlets and 400l per minute. But it cost around $500.

      Hey Eric. I currently have king springs raised. Part number kdfr-42hhd. I have ordered a slightly higher but softer spring. Hopefully it will get more flex.

      Front sway bar is still in, with a quick disconnect. It was connected, during the test.

      Thanks so much we love making them. I use a range of different cameras, a bunch of go pro and DJI action cams. DJI drone and Sony DSLR's. I use Final Cut Pro and John uses Wondarshare.
