Red Bus Services Iveco Metro Bustech VST 9277 MO
Welcome to a CR228L Transport video, in this short video we'll be taking a quick & on Red Bus Services Iveco Metro Bustech VST, registered as 9277 MO.
Red Bus Services currently operate 8 Iveco Metros with Bustech VST Bodywork in their fleet with the first Iveco Metro Bustech VST being delivered 10th of April 2019 (8675 MO). Red Bus Services were never previously a purchaser of buses fitted with Bustech VST bodywork opting instead for Express bodied buses & Custom Coaches series bodies to be fitted on their buses.
This is also one of two operators in the whole of Australia to have Iveco Metros with Bustech bodywork the other transit operator is Transdev NSW at Mt Kuring-gai who was the very first operator to have the Iveco Metro chassis fitted with Bustech Bodywork back in 2012 having 4 in total in their fleet, to date Iveco Metro with Bustech bodywork remain very rare, when you account for the 8 in Red Bus Services Fleet & 4 in Transdev NSW's fleet, that brings it up to 12.
This video is available in 4K if your media device supports the viewing of 4K media.

What should I search on eBay to find Sydney model buses
Where did you buy it?
Volvo B7RLE Volgren Cr228l [Newcastle Transport] (EX-CDC) Euro 5 [Only Voith] has that accelerate ear bleeding engine that might make a kid deaf and kind of common in Sydney a little bit
Saw this bus out this morning while on my Kurri run doing the 164 run to green hills via Maitland usually it’s one man branded bus that usually do the 164. So it was a nice surprise to see out and about
The Iveco Metro is an Australian made chassis.
Interesting that most operators didn't choose the iveco's
What led to Red Bus choosing Iveco is when the manager went to the Bus Expo in Melbourne back in 2002 to look for a bus chassis that they could standardise in the coming years. At the time they had various brands of chassis and they wanted to make their parts stock more standard.
I'm glad red bus finally got these new nice mark 4 vst's.& that it added nice variety to the fleet.
Can you do Paterson?
I bought an identical ICU400 unit and plugged it in with the green connector. Unit powers up and shows destinations but screens are not changing at all.... Any ideas?
Cool video. Love the Custom SB400 bodies. Sounds nice with the Merc chassis. While it's only 12 yrs old, it does look and sound a bit newer. :)
There are only around 13 of these left, so good job catching one! These are the oldest running with Newcastle Transport, along with the older Mercedes-Benz O405Ns which were retired in November 2020.
Since this video I haven't really had any luck with catching the other B10BLE's, they don't tend to operate as frequently now, now that newer buses are filling in for them and when they operate now they only do so as school buses. I would've loved to have taken a ride on the Two O405N's while they were in service but again they were difficult to come across so all I have is photos but no video footage. m/o 3871 I know of was withdrawn a while back due to mechanical failures & used for parts.
@@CR228L I actually managed to hitch a ride on m/o 3405, one of the O405Ns back in Mar 2020. Not much I can remember, but it was a nice ride. Sounded rather healthy too. Of course they still had to retire it.
Western Sydney also uses this as too even in Campbeltown which is now own by Busabout
@CR228L Pick up/set down restrictions for Busways route 99 apply between Swansea and Charlestown.

Great Video! Love these Custom SB50 buses. Been on a few with Blue Mountains Transit. Will be interesting to see how they compare to the new Custom Adventurer, which I've yet to travel on. :)
These also run the local Singleton runs 401, 402 (weekdays), 403 and 404 mainly on the weekend and sometimes weekday also. There nice bus, I believe they issues to Singleton because there planning on doing a service from Singleton to Newcastle, not sure if it’s happening or not. Nice video
The seating in this bus is very interesting.
Apologies viewers for the video being published a few hours later than usual. There was an Scheduling error with UA-cam and I was not home to be able to rectify it. But now that I've fixed that mishap up, why not enjoy the video :) - CR228L.

Hello I’m your new subscriber! Nice video. 6657 used to be at Foundry Road Depot
Congratulations on being my 100th Subscriber! Welcome to the channel, we're glad to have you onboard for our journey for Transport videos in the Hunter Valley & Beyond. m/o 6657 is doing well up here so far, we've had a few other ex Foundry Road Optimuses join in at the local CDC Depot, namely m/o 6658 and m/o 6659 and m/o 6660 off the top of my head. I've seen them out and about and do plan to video them when I next come across them. Stay tuned, plenty more exciting videos to come. Regards - CR228L.
Great Video! Interesting that it has pink poles. Also, looks like it been maintained quite well, considering it's age. :)
Thanks. The pink poles are a symbol or rather calling card of the buses first owner the King Bros bus Empire, a very easy way to know if it's an EX KB bus is to look for the pink poles, most operators don't tend to paint over them even after all these years. I don't know the full story but what I do know is that they were in debt to a few companies (I think Toyota was one of them) & had a lot of legal issues to tend with. End result is as we know the bus company went ka-put with Busways picking up a majority of their fleet & operations. Of course what Busways didn't pick up went to other bus companies with Rover being one of them with all of their O405NH CB60 buses in their fleet. - CR228L.
Sorry for suuuuuuch late reply. Been hella busy lately. Thanks for the the info. Quite interesting, if I must say. :)
Cessnock bus fleet ?
Sorry? Can you please elaborate what you mean. - CR228L
@@CR228L where the bus is base at rover Bus in the Hunter Valley are based at 2 depo Cessnock or Kurri Kurri
@@belchy94 Yes, would be based at either of them, more than likely the Cessnock depot. - CR228L.
This bus is nice,I must say.seat fabrics I like & the whole bus itself I like aswell.
I like the fabric as well, it's bright, full of interesting patterns & fits in well with the bus, this may or may not be the original fabric on the seats. There's a high chance when Rover purchased these buses years ago from the defunct King Bros empire they did minor modifications on them and one of those minor modifications would've been replacing all the Fabric on seats. King Bros seats tend to go for a pinky / purple grey gradient colour all mixed together and I doubt they would've gone for the seating pattern that's on the seats currently. A good way to tell if a bus is an ex King Bros bus is to look at the inside of the interior, chances are if it has pink poles it's an ex King Bros bus, most operators who got their buses don't tend to fix up the pink, even after all these years. As for the bus, I love O405NH's and wouldn't pass a day riding on them, their a classic now days with them slowly hitting retirement age and being withdrawn or moved to charter / school services. I'm happy I was able to get a ride on these as now days they don't tend to appear on route service that often. Rarest would have to be Rovers O405NH Bustechs, think I've only seen them on service routes less than 10 times over the last couple of years. - CR228L.
Great Video! Love the atmosphere of the light rail in the rain, even though It would be more enjoyable on a nice sunny day. Great showcase of the light rail at the key rail/bus/light rail terminus of Newcastle Interchange. Hope to travel on the NLR next time I travel up to 'Newy'. :) Also, almost at that very special milestone of 100 subscribers. #Roadto100subs #Roadto200subs :)
Thanks for your comment, I hope to showcase more of Newcastles finest transport in the future when the time arises and there is demand for it. Currently the unfortunate situation is the videos don't get a lot of views (whether that's the flaky algorithm that is very subjective or whatever else) So I don't really see the point of wasting good footage I've gone to the trouble of recording if there is no one watching it. I would rather save it when there is proper demand, on the other hand I suppose one way to beat the algorithm is to keep creating and being active and hope I can slip through and have my content recommended. Almost close to 100 Subscribers, it's been a long journey but I'm almost there, not sure what to do for my 100 subscribers special but I'll see what I can come up with. - CR228L.
No worries. I totally understand your dilemma. I suppose it is up to you though, but I do recommend to upload more (when you have the time and desire to). It's taken me almost 4 years to get to where I am now in terms of subscribers, so you're not the only one. I wouldn't worry about the algorithm too much, because it is something that is completely out of our control. Looking forward to your 100 sub special. :)
Awesome video. Love the NLR. Unfortunately, I haven't been on it. I haven't been up to Newcastle since December 2017. I hope to travel on it some day in the near future. :)
Thanks TB. The Newcastle LR will be here waiting for you when you can next make it up, it's not going away anytime soon so no rush. :) The only thing I hope to see at some point over the next couple of years is an extension. The one to the local stadium at Broadmeadow sounds plausible but we'll just have to wait and see if that happens. As the old saying goes "Only time will tell what happens next". Thanks for watching! - CR228L
No worries. Yeah, thanks for that. I'll make sure it is one of the first things on my itinerary when I next travel up to Newcastle (or Newy). Haha. :) I do agree about a future extension. The route seems a bit short at the moment, although, quite successful. Very true, "only time will tell". Haha. :)
This one is similar to Sydney's one.& with this one charges at each stop.& Sydneys one runs on full wire electricity.
I think Transdev Sydney is the operator of one of the other LR networks in Sydney who also use the Urbos III tho I'm not familiar with their operations as I'm not a Sydney resident. The newest part of Sydneys LR uses a different kind of light rail vehicle called Alstom Citadis 305's. Perhaps once the coronavirus is eradicated in the future I might go down and take a look at some point, it looks like it'll be worth the journey for an outsider. Thanks for watching! - CR228L
@@CR228L I been on these ones in the past when I came from Sydney down to Newcastle.because I heard it was new for Newcastle and I thought I checked it out.& I was impressed.
@@Eol66985 You'd be correct that at the time it was new for Newcastle. Where the LR travels along is pretty much where the remainder of the passenger rail use to go into the CBD except it wouldn't branch out onto the nearby road after Honeysuckle station. The passenger rail use to terminate across from Customs house.
Awesome video. Love the Christmas buses. I sadly have never been on a christmas bus before. Hope to travel on one next year, if I can. Also, I read your blog post. It was quite interesting. I hope you get increased views, therefore leading to you continuing to create the awesome content you upload to this channel. I also browsed through the other pages on your blog. Loved the Fleet pages. Quite interesting. They are a great complement to the Australian Bus Fleet Lists website, as they have pictures to identify the bus, as well as useful additonal information. Keep up the great work on the blog. I intend to regularly check up on the blog and will read all existing and future blog posts. Also, hope you had a very Merry Christmas. Also, Happy New Year for 2021. I'm sure we can all say good riddance to 2020. haha. Looking forward to more awesome content in 2021, after your well deserved break. :)
Thank you Transport Buff , Currently I'm deciding whether it's worthwhile continuing to create content despite knowing not many people will watch or view it or whether I'm going to throw in a towel and basically retire everything to do with my Transport channel including my website & Facebook page. As mentioned on my blog post I don't just create for myself but for everyone else as well, if the content just isn't getting watched there's simply no point continuing to pour time in, people are no longer interested so it's time to move on. It's not just a recent problem but something that has been going on for a while and I've just held onto it until now where I've openly discussed the matter. I'll give it sometime over my break but I don't expect anything to really pick up which means retirement is basically in sight at any point and from there I may still be active on UA-cam but will no longer create content. I apologise for being this way as well but as someone that loves content creating and wants people to see it and it's just not getting any attention it does get to me, basically feeling like people just don't care anymore. Anyway have a Happy new year and hopefully in 2021 is a much much better year compared to this year - CR228L.
No worries. Well, I suppose, do whatever you have to do. It is your decision after all. Totally understand though. I feel like the algorithms also have to do with it as well; which you can't control whatsover. Also, you're so close to that special milestone of 100 subscribers. Hopefully you reach 100 subs by the years' end or if not, in early January. :)
If anyone views this video, I'd appreciate it if you could also set aside a few minutes to read my latest blog post about something I really need taking off my chest and it concerns the future of this channel as well. www.cr228l.com/blog/i-need-to-say-something/ Regards CR228L

What Cummins engine type
To be honest with you, I'm not entirely sure what Rover has opted for but going by Denning (Now Custom Denning) the low floor Phoniex has an option of Cummins ISBE5, 6.7l in-line 6 cylinder 285-300hp @2300 rpm or Cummins ISLE5, 8.9l in-line 6 cylinder 280-320hp @2100 rpm/ Source - www.custombus.com.au/products/denning/low-floor/midi/ - CR228L.
The video is a little bit rushed but for anyone curious about how the buttons work, your top row is for increasing the destination by their respective unit. Say you want to go to destination 20 from 19, you'd press the top right hand side button (the one unit button) once. The down button works the same instead it decreases it by one. The button next to your top 1 unit is your 10's so if you were at destination 10 and wanted to skip all the way to destination 20 without pressing the button 10 times you'd press the tens button once. I think the rest regarding hundreds and thousands is self explanatory except there is no decrease button for thousands, only increases, I'd assume once you press the thousands button 9-10 times (if you have something crazy like 9999 destinations programed into this) You'd reach back to either 1000 or one. The blue button is for special functions, I'm only going off on this from obscure posts but an old post mentions that the blue button can be used in conjunction with the current route so for example If you had school bus displayed and wanted a number of your choice, you'd look for the destination code that displays "SCHOOL BUS" then from there press the blue button and this should then allow you to input a route number of your choice like 123 for example. At this is how I think it works however I could be wrong and there could be more to this. - CR228L.
Great Video! Great that you are able to own one. Hope you get to turn it on and use it (if you haven't already). I gather from your forum posts you haven't turned it on yet. I could be wrong though. Haha. :)
It's been something I've wanted to obtain for a while now, I've had it since June ish of this year and had a video like this on the back burner for a while for more interesting content. It was actually hard obtaining this as no bus companies were willing to give them up, even from their withdrawn buses that to date are still sitting in what we locals call the "graveyard" that are still fitted with them. I've looked at trying to buy the power cable that looks to go into the green port but I can only find it from the USA and it's going to cost over $100. Better if I can wait and see if anyone is chucking theirs out and obtain the cables or another additional unit alongside it. If I ever get it powered my big plan is to input all the local routes into it (think these can handle up-to 9999 routes but I might be wrong). There will of course be a follow up video when this happens but don't possibly expect it for a long time yet unfortunately. My expertise lies within computers not electrical components so I sadly wouldn't know where to go with powering it even after I obtain said cable. - CR228L
Once again, sorry for late reply. I really do hope you get it working in the near future. It is a great addition to any another transport memorabilia and/or paraphernalia you have. I gather owning a destination controller is quite rare, so lucky you for being able to find and buy it. Will be looking forward to your future video, when you get it working with all the routes on it. In terms of trying to power it up, when you get the cable, I suggest finding a computer electrician that'll have expertise with transport and/or rare computer items. Maybe if you contacted some bus depots in your local area, they may be able to help you. Also, some of the private operators may be more open to helping you. Just a sugestion though; as I have no idea myself. Haha. Anyways, hope all goes well with it. :)
@@TransportBuff I'm thinking of approaching the local Comfort Del Gro depot again and asking if their Workshop can supply me the cables or give me a headstart on where to go but again that might not be for some time yet as last time I called bus companies as you know, they either wanted me to buy a full bus if I wanted one part or straight up said "Nope, can't give you one but try operator XYZ" so I doubt I'll get much further again. To be honest I would've still paid for one up to a certain price. I paid about $50 more for this ICU400 than what I wanted too (paid $220 I think with $20 being shipping) most I was willing to pay was $150 but it was either pay the extra $50 or miss out so I was like we'll I'll buy it anyway and here we are. Next on my list I'd love to buy those older plaques you find in buses (The Volgren ones, Custom Coaches etc) but nothing ever comes up for them. If the Sydney Bus Museum was to start selling them I'd probably jump right on it. - CR228L
Hope you go well with contacting your local depot. Maybe cause its Christmas they may be more forgiving. Ya never know. I do hope you get hold of some of those plaques. They will become more rare as time goes on, and I feel like there is certain levels of nostalgia involved in them as well. Hopefully, some plaques are put on the market some time in the near future. Also, a pity you had to pay more than you wanted for the ICU, but better that you got it in the end rather than not getting it at all. :)
Some of them that have icu 400 were replaced with 402
What bus company is removing their ICU 400's for 402's?
@@CR228L Hillsbus has replaced some of them
Cdc doesn’t purchase cb80 and endeavour they only purchase Volgren buses
They did initially trial the CB80 during the early introduction of the CB80 bodywork however no purchases were made, they seem to be pretty happy with their Volgren bodied buses sticking with them ever since. They may trial the Endeavour bodies at some point however I wouldn't expect any orders to be made.
@@CR228L what I know they have is 510, 516 which is not order but purchase from glenorie coaches 550 ,cb30 ,cb60 and cb60 Evo II are the only custom coaches buses that cdc only uses
Great Video! Love the northern end of the Central Coast & Newcastle Line. Quite a classic but modern and convenient junction/interchange station at Broadmeadow. :)
This station is a beauty, you don't just see regular trains but also freight & XPT and NSW Trainlink buses here. The day I filmed this video I did arrive just as an XPT got in bound for somewhere up towards Sydney but couldn't get my phone out in time plus it was partly pouring down (if you notice why a bit of the video is on an angle it's because I'm juggling between filming from my phone and photographing from my DSLR camera, need to get a new tripod as my old ones keep breaking.) There is more of these episodes to come providing they prove popular otherwise I might go back to making other things until the numbers add up for making it worthwhile to film content. Stay Tuned! -CR228L
So sorry for such a late reply. Have been really busy. Your replies are are so detailed, I often need to find some spare time, and properly think about my reply. Haha. Hope this is ok. Btw, it's good you give a through and detailed reply, as I then get to discuss transport in a detailed and meaningful way. UA-cam and the ATDB are the only main forms of communication I have with transport enthusaists, as none of my family and friends are interested in transport, and they can't contribute to the conversation like transport enthuasists can. :) LOL. The struggles of a transport photographer/filmer. Can totally understand though. :) Totally agree about the variety of trains and buses at the northern end of the Central Coast & Newcastle Line. :) Obviously, it is up to you, but I suggest making content that you prefer to upload rather than what your viewers want. I mean, if your trying to follow the UA-cam algorithms, then uploading to viewers' preferences may be a good idea. Most of my content is what I choose to upload; some videos don't do that well, and others do much better (some to quite my surprise). I am more just sharing the content I have filmed on UA-cam regardless of views and subscribers (although of course the views and subscribers are an appreciated element of uploading to UA-cam. Anyways, sorry for the rant, haha. :)
@@TransportBuff That's what I do, mainly focusing on buses because of my location as there is a bit more of a mix and their easily accessible (also within reason) I can understand peoples boredom If I just went to the Hunter line and filmed the same trains time after time but just different location, unlike Sydney on the other hand where there is plenty of passenger rollingstock on various lines so being a bit repetitive there isn't a problem. The Hunter line get's their own 2 car sets (which I think there is only 7) as you know and the occasional 2 car Endeavour. Unfortunately for some reason my videos don't prove popular with my Facebook followers (despite being in the 200+ range) as looking at the analytics doesn't show much attention even through I'd figure it's what people want to also see. I think the fact that this exact video is still in the low views (below 45 as of this comment on my end) when similar content from other UA-camrs prove more successful has probably got something to do with it as well. Maybe viewers prefer someone else over me? Not sure but I also like creating content because I want others to see it, if their not viewing it why should I continue to make content? In a way it sort of kills my motivation and makes me feel down when I've uploaded a video only for no one to care about it. - CR228L
Totally agree. I suppose you can never tell with the UA-cam algorithms. Fair enough that you want to create content that others want to see. It's a bit of a damned if you do, damned if you don't situation. Anyways, love your content, and looking forward to more awesome content, whether it is purely your choice to upload it or what your viewers want. :)
Great Video! Love these buses. Have only been on the Blue Mtns Transit ones, but I'm sure the CDC Hunter Valley ones are a bit similar. Also, the TfNSW livery looks stunning on them. :)
Thanks again! Honestly they don't look bad at all in TNSW Livery however I still prefer the original canary yellow livery they have. Not sure why 1544 MO was done up in TNSW livery but I believe former 1543 MO was done up because it was involved in a sad fatality.
No worries. Yeah, I suppose both the TfNSW and Canary Yellow livery work well. Sad to hear about 1543 MO's fatality. Also, nice new logo. Sorta has a cool heritage feel to it, but still contemporary at the same time. :)
Great Video! Love the rather classic combo of the Mercedes O405NH chassis and the Custom Coaches 550 body. Sounds like a rather nice sounding bus. :)
Apart from their seating (with I think 7788 MO featuring full fabric covered seating) these were really nice low floors to be on, sure they were starting to show their age but they still held up. This one as noted by my description has as far as we know possibly been scrapped given CDC stored it and are known to scrap buses they really can't pass on. I'm surprised it didn't sit out of use for donor parts instead before being scrapped. These were the only O405NH buses at the local depots, we don't have any O405NH's with custom CB60 bodywork. The ones that remain here now spend their time on Charters & school runs only, the ex Stationlinks pretty much took their places alongside the MAN 12.220's. Maybe one day one can be charted if a tour was to ever happen. While I don't think CDC has any plans to pass these 2nd hand to other operators when their time comes, hopefully a couple of the Transdev Melbourne units of the same type end up getting preserved.
I found the pole dancers spot lol
Great Video! Love the classic Volvo B7RLE Volgren CR228Ls. Honestly though, who the hell put that social distancing sticker on the pole? How idiotic. :)
The very same bright people who etch & sketch the windows of the bus. Unfortunately there is no way you can do good because there is always one person out there who always wants to ruin the hard work of others. These are nice B7RLE's however maybe I'm hearing wrong but when riding this one it sounded like it was trying to mimic a truck, I thought that was IVECO's job :P - CR228L
Yeah, so true. Didn't sound too much like a truck to me. Yeah, so true, about Iveco. Sometimes, when I am around the Eastern Suburbs, I notice the Iveco Metro Volgren Optimus buses sound quite like a truck, I almost I think an actual truck is passing. LOL. :)
Awesome Video! Nice sounding bus. Great catch of classic, not so new coach. Seems to be kept pretty well. :)
Also, love the intro music. Nice and upbeat suitable for the purpose of an intro. :)
Thanks, it's getting hard to find decent sounding music that doesn't chuck copyright claims or content ID's on it and then puts advertisements on your videos but this one hits the sweet spot so it's a keeper. The video introduction is custom made by myself along with the different transport logos you see in the intro. Music composer is in the description :) - CR228L
Yeah, decent non-copyright music is pretty hard to find these days. This song is a great find. :)
Great Video! Nice looking bus. Sounds pretty decent. Keeping up pretty well. Nice that there was almost no one onboard. :)
This was my first time riding a CR225L bus and I'm going to say I'm happy. Linq has taken very good care of it & I enjoyed my short ride on it. Someone had gotten on at Hamilton station but only one PAX and I got off at Broadmeadow as it's a nice spot to catch all inbound and outbound coaches as well as standby buses. I also filmed 7102 MO from Hunter Valley Buses on the same day, your standard Volvo B7R with an SC222 body, keep an eye out for it when it gets uploaded :) - CR228L
Thanks for the info. Will make sure to watch the upcoming video HVB video. :)
@@TransportBuff I got the timestamps wrong, I actually filmed 3536 MO on the same day as I rode this Linq Bus. I actually rode 7102 back in early March during Rail replacements. Regardless the videos will be uploaded eventually so stay tuned :) - CR228L
Haha. No worries. All good. :)
Great Video, under the new CR228L branding. Love the new brand, logo and theme. Will be looking forward to more videos under this brand. Also, great filming. Love the uniqueness and atmosphere of the Hunter Valley :)
Thanks Transport Buff, I might need to sort out the introduction theme as while UA-cam is fine with me using it with no major repercussions, I will be ending up with a content claim every time I use it (which will then automatically place advertisements in my videos & no I won't be making money from it) I was hoping I'd see an endeavor set on the weekend I filmed this but they must not operate on the weekends on the Hunter line anymore or probably only do so earlier & later on in the day, not sure really as it has been a while since I've done a visit to a train station with my studies & COVID-19 and all. Anyway I intend on filming the same content, buses, trains, lightrail etc & I don't currently have an upload schedule in mind as I'm still undergoing major studies however I had some spare time over the long weekend so thought I may as well have put it to some use and I've been meaning to see how good the video quality from the Iphone 7 is. Thanks for stopping by!
No worries. Hope all goes well, and you don't have too much trouble with the copyright issues. Totally understand the situation. Hope you get some free time to film, amidst COVID-19 and your studies. Also, good luck with your studies. :)
Older episodes & videos have mostly been made "unlisted" to view them you may go to this playlist ua-cam.com/video/73I6v0DX7qQ/v-deo.html This is being done in preparation of a channel rebranding that will happen at some point in the future.
For anyone watching this, the older content will eventually start to be hidden on this UA-cam channel when the rebrand commences but fear not as once the TONA archive channel is set up, they will appear back on there providing I still have the original video files. I don't really want the older content to get in the way when I commence the rebrand hence why I'm creating a 2nd channel just for it. - TONA
