I bought an identical ICU400 unit and plugged it in with the green connector. Unit powers up and shows destinations but screens are not changing at all.... Any ideas?
The video is a little bit rushed but for anyone curious about how the buttons work, your top row is for increasing the destination by their respective unit. Say you want to go to destination 20 from 19, you'd press the top right hand side button (the one unit button) once. The down button works the same instead it decreases it by one. The button next to your top 1 unit is your 10's so if you were at destination 10 and wanted to skip all the way to destination 20 without pressing the button 10 times you'd press the tens button once. I think the rest regarding hundreds and thousands is self explanatory except there is no decrease button for thousands, only increases, I'd assume once you press the thousands button 9-10 times (if you have something crazy like 9999 destinations programed into this) You'd reach back to either 1000 or one. The blue button is for special functions, I'm only going off on this from obscure posts but an old post mentions that the blue button can be used in conjunction with the current route so for example If you had school bus displayed and wanted a number of your choice, you'd look for the destination code that displays "SCHOOL BUS" then from there press the blue button and this should then allow you to input a route number of your choice like 123 for example. At this is how I think it works however I could be wrong and there could be more to this. - CR228L.
Great Video! Great that you are able to own one. Hope you get to turn it on and use it (if you haven't already). I gather from your forum posts you haven't turned it on yet. I could be wrong though. Haha. :)
It's been something I've wanted to obtain for a while now, I've had it since June ish of this year and had a video like this on the back burner for a while for more interesting content. It was actually hard obtaining this as no bus companies were willing to give them up, even from their withdrawn buses that to date are still sitting in what we locals call the "graveyard" that are still fitted with them. I've looked at trying to buy the power cable that looks to go into the green port but I can only find it from the USA and it's going to cost over $100. Better if I can wait and see if anyone is chucking theirs out and obtain the cables or another additional unit alongside it. If I ever get it powered my big plan is to input all the local routes into it (think these can handle up-to 9999 routes but I might be wrong). There will of course be a follow up video when this happens but don't possibly expect it for a long time yet unfortunately. My expertise lies within computers not electrical components so I sadly wouldn't know where to go with powering it even after I obtain said cable. - CR228L
Once again, sorry for late reply. I really do hope you get it working in the near future. It is a great addition to any another transport memorabilia and/or paraphernalia you have. I gather owning a destination controller is quite rare, so lucky you for being able to find and buy it. Will be looking forward to your future video, when you get it working with all the routes on it. In terms of trying to power it up, when you get the cable, I suggest finding a computer electrician that'll have expertise with transport and/or rare computer items. Maybe if you contacted some bus depots in your local area, they may be able to help you. Also, some of the private operators may be more open to helping you. Just a sugestion though; as I have no idea myself. Haha. Anyways, hope all goes well with it. :)
@@TransportBuff I'm thinking of approaching the local Comfort Del Gro depot again and asking if their Workshop can supply me the cables or give me a headstart on where to go but again that might not be for some time yet as last time I called bus companies as you know, they either wanted me to buy a full bus if I wanted one part or straight up said "Nope, can't give you one but try operator XYZ" so I doubt I'll get much further again. To be honest I would've still paid for one up to a certain price. I paid about $50 more for this ICU400 than what I wanted too (paid $220 I think with $20 being shipping) most I was willing to pay was $150 but it was either pay the extra $50 or miss out so I was like we'll I'll buy it anyway and here we are. Next on my list I'd love to buy those older plaques you find in buses (The Volgren ones, Custom Coaches etc) but nothing ever comes up for them. If the Sydney Bus Museum was to start selling them I'd probably jump right on it. - CR228L
Hope you go well with contacting your local depot. Maybe cause its Christmas they may be more forgiving. Ya never know. I do hope you get hold of some of those plaques. They will become more rare as time goes on, and I feel like there is certain levels of nostalgia involved in them as well. Hopefully, some plaques are put on the market some time in the near future. Also, a pity you had to pay more than you wanted for the ICU, but better that you got it in the end rather than not getting it at all. :)
Where did you buy it?

Some of them that have icu 400 were replaced with 402
What bus company is removing their ICU 400's for 402's?
