I asked about the approach in one of my polls. Some responses suggested applying a clear coat after placing the decals. However, others stated that leaving the decals without a clear coat would add realism, as the numbers on real cars are typically stickers, not painted. This way, the decals would look more authentic if applied after the clear coat so I followed this way :)

I would look for this kit on Amazon first. It might be that the kit in this particular livery is not available now, but you can still find a 917 from Fujimi with other decals.

@@famo18t44 Danke vielmals!Die Poliermaschine und die Polierpads habe ich auf einem chinesischen Portal gekauft. Wichtig war für mich, dass die Maschine möglichst langsam läuft. Ähnliche Geräte werden auch für die Maniküre benutzt, man kann sie also auch ausprobieren :)

Thanks a lot! I thought that the coffee cup color and the car would match, but they don't. It could be that the first Pink Pig had a slightly different color, so that might be the reason. 😀

Wow! I had only heard about model planes from this manufacturer and wasn’t aware that they made model cars as well. I checked on Scalemates, and it turns out there are only a few model cars. It’s definitely a rare model, but I noticed that Revell used the Accurate Miniatures tool and branded it with their logo (85-4992). Hopefully, this information helps you figure out what you’re looking for!

@@Dhritimansarma-o3x It will bond, but the connection might not be very stiff, and there’s a chance it could cause hazing. I’d suggest testing it on some leftover acrylic sheets. :)

In this project used the UHU All plastics glue. It's not perfect but it works good enough:)

@@wojtasik7702 ok, już wiem! 🙂 to są arkusze PLA , albo 0.3 albo 0.5 mm, mam zestaw Tamiya 70003, gdzie jest 5 arkuszy o 3 różnych grubościach (0.3, 0.5 oraz 1.2 mm). Planujesz coś podobnego? 😀

@ bardziej ciekawość. Ale chciałem spróbować trochę ,,tuningowac’’ modele. Mam na myśli takie proste rzeczy jak zrobienie otwieranej maski czy nawet we wnętrzu jakieś pasy czy takie proste części aby urealnić model. Nie wiem zbytnio jak się za to zabrać więc tak podpytuję, bo lubie takie małe szczegóły.

@ zawsze też staram się inspirować bardziej doświadczonymi modelarzami bo ciekawych rzeczy można się dowiedzieć np. Jak w tym shortsie, gdy zamaskowałales koła maska w płynie, dla niektórych może oczywistość ale ja o tym nie wiedziałem i męczyłem się z takimi rzeczami.

@janvanrenselaar5998 that's great advice! Do you add it also to the 2K clear coats like the one that I used in this project? I was thinking of adding a bit more thinner (the one in the set) but didn't dare. 😀 I agree, they are quite thick! With five or more coats, the panel lines would surely disappear, and it wouldn't look good... but as they are quite thick they don't tear apart as easily as the one in the Revell 934 Porsche kit. There are pros and cons, but for sure it would be better to have them a bit thinner so they don't stand out as much. 😀

@@AdHocCars when you go with 5-6 coats,keep then light,just the last 2 coats with some extra thinner. And the panelliners are still there. Yes i have used Gravity before and they are thick. I use now a automotive brand. Gravity and Zero are also automotive paints but in a smaller package. And a friend who is a real car painter told me the trick with some extra thinner. Try it on a old body when you got one. When you overthin it,add just a mil hardener to get it to a good consisticy again. It took me a while before i got it right. And about the decals from Tamiya. I had a Supra GT to be declared this weekend. And needed almost 2 sets of decals. Those on the roof gooing to the back were all broken and in pièces. But i have made it a real castrol tom,s Toyota. Full with smaller decals and used some fantasy and imagination.

Thanks for the tips! I'll definitely keep the advice about the light coats in mind, especially the last two with extra thinner. It makes sense that a friend in the auto painting world would know the trick! I’ve heard good things about Gravity and Zero, but I think switching to a local automotive brand could work better for me too, especially after hearing your experience. I'll give thinning a try on an old body first, as you suggested, and the hardener tip sounds like a lifesaver if I go too far with the thinner. As for the decals on the Supra GT, I can imagine how tricky that must’ve been! Using two sets and improvising with smaller decals to finish the job was a great move. It sounds like it turned out fantastic despite the challenges!

@@AdHocCars Yes it turned out nice. But not the livery as on the box. But he, every race the car had other sponsors, they were never exact the same all season. And yes give it a try. I payed for that automotive 2K and hardener around €60,- on Amazon here in Spain for 1.50 Litre. Do your math with those nice boxes from Zero and Gravity. It is not something i would try, but on barbatos rex he used it and For example Oni from OMG and Karl uses that also. And they are more experianced than i am.

You're absolutely right, it's all about having fun! This hobby can definitely get frustrating sometimes, especially when you're aiming for perfection in every project. I’ll check out Barbatos’ channel to learn more about the 2K options-it sounds like a good step forward. Thanks for the tip on the cost comparison, €60 for 1.5 liters seems like a good deal compared to the smaller Zero and Gravity packages. Thanks for noticing that detail! It was quite tough to sync it, but I managed! When it comes to Tamiya, yes, you can. 💪 According to the information on tamiya.com, it can be sprayed on using an airbrush if desired! 😊
