Very good advice
Nice
At 80, good health, no debt, 5 pets, hobbies, a few lady friends so I'm happily content.....
I wish my parents were living close to me, I wouldn't mind the "burden". I sometimes help out elders in my community subconsciously wishing my folks could in turn get the help they need from a stranger, once in a while.
Thank you!

An inspiring video with practical strategies for seniors to stay healthy, purposeful, and full of energy. Thanks for the valuable insights! 🌟
As to whether we ‘choose’ to stay single, there are obvious restrictions to being permanently linked with a partner. What would be a good idea, would be good to have a group connect with a mix of friends, without the requirement to maintain a married relationship. I like the setting in the film Quartet. That has it just about right. Certainly there is an occasional desire for deeper connection with a lady, but the consequences of being married are very expensive. As so many of us realise the benefits need to be rebalanced. So much of what is spoken here, I can personally relate to.
Seniors, you are a treasure! Wishing you all a life full of happiness and joy!
As an old guy I wouldn't have it any other way. The world out there has gone stark raving bonkers.
I'm 66 years old and I do a little bit every time like one day I'll clean the bathroom. One day I'll dust ETC. I'm in no hurry to clean anything anymore. I remember when I was younger when you're young you cleaned the whole apartment or house at one time Not me I'll just look at it. It can wait until tomorrow
"Slow and steady wins the race"
Thank you for reminding us that growing older is something to be proud of!
You're welcome!
This video provides a balanced and insightful discussion on a major life decision-whether to age in place or transition to assisted living. I appreciate how it breaks down both options with real-life examples, helping viewers understand the emotional, financial, and practical considerations involved. The reminder that there’s no one-size-fits-all answer is especially important; what works for one person may not work for another. Ultimately, the key takeaway is to plan ahead and make a choice that prioritizes well-being and quality of life. Great content! Looking forward to more videos like this. 👍
I'm 62 and living with my family, manage my few passion such has painting, sketching, Reading annotating the non friction on various topics and arranging in common place area, fountain pen collector, i do make standard pocket size field notes, and occasionally enjoy moments with my family and friends that's all as far as my social engagement are concerned
That sounds like a fulfilling life! And it's also great that you find joy in your passions. Thanks for sharing!

Funny, my mom lives alone after our father passed away. Whenever we visit, she always seem annoyed and rushes us out. She likes the quiet, dont want to clean the house, shop food for guest, clean up afterwards
Well, it sounds like your mom has grown used to her quiet routine and finds hosting overwhelming. It’s not that she doesn’t love you-she might just value her peace and feel stressed by the extra effort that comes with having guests. Maybe shorter, more relaxed visits or helping with chores could make things easier for her. 😊
I embrace getting old. I look forward not moving so fast all the time. If my age makes me old, then let me make it beautiful. Getting old is wonderful, learn to appreciate getting old instead being a complaining bitch all the time. When others don't make it be old , don't question why
Get rid of what you can while you can.
Thanks for that
You're welcome!
Humans are not supposed to be all alone. It's just plain sadness.
The vast majority of older people living alone, seem to be very happy, much outweighing perceived negatives.
At 85 with nobility issues, I find these chores impossible to do. If you can afford it have someone you can trust, clean your house twice a month for a deep clean. . .
I hear you-cleaning can feel overwhelming, especially with mobility challenges. But small daily efforts can help! Try breaking tasks into tiny steps, like wiping surfaces while seated or using lightweight tools. Even five minutes a day adds up. And yes, getting help for deep cleaning is a great idea! 😊
Living alone as an older man free as a bird. 🦅
This channel is a beautiful reminder to stay present and mindful. Thank you for sharing such powerful teachings!
Thank you for your kind words, I'm glad you enjoyed it.
Wrong! Absolutely stock up non perishables as if for a blizzard! Going to the market is not always a given with health or weather….Car problems…. Etc
Good point! Unexpected situations can definitely make grocery runs difficult. Having nonperishables on hand is a smart backup!
The #1 thing to avoid when living alone as an older person: PEOPLE. 😀
I’m there. 75. Watching from the sidelines as a 79 y.o. friend procrastinated in dealing with the inevitable. Now she is stressed to the max. Maintaining a big house on an icy mountain (heater went out, pump, roof). Now she has cancer and it’s harder than ever b/c she put it off not wanting to leave her home. I don’t want to be that person. I am getting my house in the city up to snuff to be ready when I need it.
It's better to be safe than sorry. Prayers for your friend, I hope she is fine and finds help soon
I am 72 and have lived alone since I divorced mt husband at 37. I wake every morning grateful for my solitude!
Add green bananas to the list?
Excellent idea's.
Thanks
I have a dog n cat give me a reason to take care of them and love them. I have my granddaughter n great neice come yo stay a weekend once every 6 weeks I am excausted but love there company and we do things, like carnivals, festivals n bowling etc
That’s amazing! Your love and effort make a world of difference for your pets and family. Even though it’s exhausting, you’re creating beautiful memories-they’re lucky to have you! 💕
I swear I never knew making a bed could be so hard smh
😀Brilliant!
Rubbish I don’t do half of these things no did my mum when she was alive I’m not saying It’s not a good idea but for some of us it just doesn’t happen that way except pay the bills. I do like the bills paid straight away
Some good suggestions…but I wonder how you suggest so much about connect with others when perhaps That is the problem. Seems to me to be a bit…. Ah, missing the point.
I get what you're saying, but isolation can make things even harder. Connecting with others-even in small ways-can provide support, purpose, and practical help. It’s not about forcing socialization but finding meaningful connections that make life easier and more fulfilling.
I'm 70 and love living alone. It's good to have friends nearby in case I need help, we all help each other, but peace and quiet at home is beyond price. I don't even like having guests staying. My freedom, solitude, peace is so important.
Thanks. One more is grown children who don’t like the concept of working. I keep calling Goodwill to schedule a pickup but they’ve blocked my number.
A tip or two. I use a long-handled gripper thing often to pick up things I dropped. Also when I get up I pull the covers back on the bed. Then off to the kitchen for breakfast (diabetic). I head back and make the bed & get dressed. The bed has been "aired out". There's a method to my madness lol. 😉
I've been using a stool to sit on to dust & vacuum. Huge difference and it's not hard to move for the present. I have many knicknacks, miniatures, framed photos, and vintage items I love and won't part with. I have a "rotation" bin and I only put a few items out at a time so they're very easy to dust and move to clean. I get to enjoy everything just not all at once!
🇬🇧 I wash my hair in 2 stages, I wash the back of my hair when I have a quick shower. Then I wash the front of my hair under the kitchen mixer tap. I'm 78 and it feels safer doing it this way. I also dye my hair blonde , using the same procedure
"Swedish Death Decluttering" is the best thing I've ever done - 3 years ago this very month! I was able to downsize from a huge 3 bedroom house with massive gardens to a one bedroomed flat (apartment) with shower room and kitchenette. I donated 50 boxes of kitchen equipment, crockery and glasses that I hadn't used for years. I gave 2 removal vans full of text books to the Bible College where I'd done all my degrees. 19 bags of virtually unworn clothing went to the charity shop. I gave my signed print collection of animal paintings to my local zoo to be auctioned to raise funds for them, as well as my huge jewellery collection. All my unwanted furniture went to a charity store to be sold. The final few items I advertised on Marketplace and a needy grateful couple came to take them off my hands. I gave away to my neighbours all my surplus gardening equipment. I shredded all my old bank statements and documents and all my essays, and burned my old photos. I am the last in my line so there is no one to pass family photos onto. I've just kept a handful from when I was fit and young! My vast towel and tea towel stash has been given to the RSPCA and local Veterinary Practice equally. All my cat toys and supplies have gone to the RSPCA as I no longer have a cat. It was a lot of hard work packing stuff up but I worked tirelessly for a month and got it all done! I thought I was being ruthless and would miss my "stuff" but 3 years has passed and I've not missed anything. Life is so much easier now. Less to clean and maintain, more time for me to enjoy the remainder of my life. Win/win. Good video, thanks for posting.
Only if you are in a home and are safe and secure Most of us now don't own property and will have to work till we drop, while living in cars if we're lucky, the rest of you are privileged....
Lol,no one has anything anymore....
I don't care
I agree with video. We all live in the United States but very far apart. And there is just too much drama to contend with love them dearly. But think I would feel more stressed adding more drama.
Old age has nothing good about it at all , being bullied by the system ,taken advantages of by everyone ,zero respect by any one
Very humorous. Thanks
Glad you enjoyed it
