This is, for me, the best video about Pai in UA-cam, it really takes you there. Thank you for this ❤
Thank you too! Very nice of you to say!
Where are these?
Greetings lady, hope you are doing well, can you please tell me which time of year you were there
This was July
@@LeighsOffBackpacking thank you for your kind response, was it too much rainy at that time of year?
@@nib631 no it was great. Full sun most of the day with a very short but powerful rainstorm around dusk most nights.
thanks for your lovely video! it sure looks amazing. I will be tralling into Krabi region in June this year. What was your experience with the weather last june? In your vid, it looks great!
It was great. Few late afternoon showers rolled in, but also rolled out quickly. Most of the day was sunshine each day. Best of luck with the weather for you too!
Hi Leigh. I just stopped by your channel to see if your up to anything new. Looks like you haven't posted in a while, but it was good to watch this video. I hope you're doing well.
Nice video. I was in Muang Ngoi overnight in the beginning of December 2023, having cruised down the Nam Ou River from Muang Khua to Nong Khiaw (about 5-1/2 hours on the river, with a change of boats required at the dam midway between Muang Khua and Muang Ngoi. The river was silt-free and greenish clear versus cafe latte brown. My guide and I had a private boat & driver and arrived in the early afternoon. After checking into my guest house at the corner of the main (dirt) road and the one from the boat landing, we did the trek to the Tham Kaang shelter cave that the locals used as a bomb shelter during the Indochina War, and then continued onto the ethnic T’ai Deng village of Ban Na (a non-stop/one way 1 hour and 20 minute trek from my guest house). The village temple was at the end of the main road to the right of my guest house, so the temple drum announcing the start of the morning alms procession woke me up, and the sound of conversations in Lao nearby tip me off to monk offerings right near my bungalow, so I threw on clothes and went out to take photos and video clips on the offerings, following the monks all the way to the far end of the main road, then walking back to take photos and videos of the village in early morning and the assorted morning street vendor stalls (a local woman said I came on the wrong day for the 10 day rotating market, which likely includes Ban Na and other ethnic and nearby ‘Lao Lum’ villages). Muang Ngoi was very chill and laidback, with some very good local sai oua Lao sausages (quite spicy) available on the street at night. I loved northern Laos, especially up in Phongsali province (Bountai, Phongsali), though the roads are rough and the travel times by car longer than the ETA’s. Haven’t downloaded and produced my videos yet, but will start doing so on my travel-related UA-cam page in the coming weeks. Cheers!
Glad you got to explore the area, and best of luck with your channel!
NICE!
Looks cool Thanks for tjis nice video
Thanks!
What are your ultimate favorites from your stay in Thailand out of all the places and cities?
Pai, Koh Tao, and Hat Yai come to mind first. Such great experiences all over the place though.
@@LeighsOffBackpacking Thank you for that info. I've been watching a few Pai videos, which will be my primary stay; then I will do the others!
@@PLATINUMCASTLE813 you’re going to love it!
I went to Phayao myself. Very chill and quiet slowpaced town compared to Bangkok or Chiang Mai
The Laotian government should consider putting up oompa loompa statutes around the chocolate 🍫 River.
Would become a tourist attraction for sure 😂
Laotian american here. muang Noy literally means small town or small city.
That was awesome!! Subscribed to your channel:)
Hello, I’m sure you get this question a lot, but Thailand and the surrounding areas in July and August, how is it dealing with the “rainy season” doesn’t look so rainy
I had no problem, most storms were very short lived. There was often a bit of rain around early evening, but it passed quickly and cooled things down a bit. I would just keep an eye on which parts of the country (if any) are getting longer (full day) storms, you can always amend your travel schedule if needed if you don’t book your accommodation too far in advance. I almost never booked more than a few days ahead.
how was the weather in July? I want to go this year but I don´t know...
It was great weather in Chiang Mai itself and a bit cooler weather when I did day trips into the surrounding mountains due to the elevation. Pretty foggy at the top of the mountains intermittently.
Great video! Thank you
Thanks for watching!
Did you get any vaccines before traveling to Thailand? No food sickness while you were there?
I had good luck and didn’t have any sickness while I was there. I did wind up getting the Japanese encephalitis vaccine beforehand but honestly wouldn’t bother next time. It’s more rare than my doctor made it sound I think.
@@LeighsOffBackpacking thanks. I see Hypatitis A and Typhus as recommended on the internet.
Was the snorkeling mask included in the tour package?
Yes, included in the price
Very nice! Can you share info about the organizers of your 3-day tour and also the type of your mini camera? It's not clear to me if you slept in the jungle or returned at your hostel each night.
I booked my tour through Coco Hostel. The particular one I booked was a 3 day/2 night tour. The first night you stay in the hostel in town, the second night on the lake in the park. They had other tours available depending on what you wanted to see and do and for how many days.
How was the weather? Thx!
Sunny, hot and humid for the most part, with occasional short downpours
I have a plan to go to Koh Tao at the end of June because it’s my birthday but I’m worried about the weather😂 When you were there did it rain heavily and often?
@@petchynp02 It did rain while I was there but the rain was short lived and helped cut the humidity. I would definitely recommend going even if rain is forecast, as it didn’t impact my trip at all. Drop into a cafe for a cold drink if it rains, and take a little rest. Then you can get back to enjoying your day. Have a great time!
I waiting your new video ❤
We are not sure about visiting Thailand in June because of the weather. What are your experiences? It seems lovely!
Definitely go! Even when it rains it’s usually just a short strong rain, and then the sun comes out again. Enjoy!
Awesome, looking forward to iced Latte! Can you tell me, did you have many rainy days as you were in Chiang Mai in July?
Sometimes there would be an evening shower but during the day it was always sunny for me :)
Enjoyed your review, you went to the number "3" road if you go on further you would've reach Boklua village its even more beautiful there. Hope you make it next time. Cheers..!!!
Brings back memories. I am doing this again in 2023. Thanks for sharing. Subscribed.
Appreciate the support! Have a great trip in 2023!
WOW!! That cave looks incredible!! I’m sure it was breathtaking in person 😍
So sorry about covid hope you recover quickly. Your channel looks great and off to an amazing start. I see you have done so many unique trips can't wait to see them all. I have to send to my son he went to college and his roommate was from Vietnam and he gets invited all the time and he is thinking of going next summer. It looked like a peaceful ride and really looked beautiful. Nice choice of music looked like the walks and stairs were all really nice. Can't wait to see more videos and where you stayed. What a beautiful area with the coffee shop, picnic tables and a beautiful waterfall. You so far have sold this trip to me. Great job filming and editing. Just really enjoyed it. We need to do a more unique destination next year for sure. What a gorgeous cave we love caves we did a couple in Hawaii which will be puting out in January. Good luck with your channel is 2023 can't wait to see more of your adventures and watch your channel grow!
Thanks so much for the kind words! I’m sure your son would have an amazing time exploring Vietnam with his roommate . I especially love northern Vietnam’s hiking, but there is so much to see everywhere. I’ll be posting some videos from central Vietnam in early 2023. Looking forward to checking out your channel too!
@@LeighsOffBackpacking oh we will watch and have him check it out. Thx so much love the support and I love your destinations
Does the 30day extension start from the day you make the application or from the end of your original visa ?
It was from the end of my original visa
Thanks for your videos Leigh - they are excellent 👍🏻
Thanks for the kind words!
HI, HAVE FUN&STAY SAFE!!!!!👏👍👍👍👍😎
Thank you! 🙏🙏🙏
Thanxs for the video
Thanks for watching!
Will be going again.Wanna try the high speed train
An hour massage for under $5 sounds so amazing 😂
Spoiled! 😂
If California's high-speed trains were handed over to China, Americans would not have to go to Asia to experience high-speed trains.
This waterfall is not big, but it has quite good trails to spend time outdoors🙌🙌🙌
Yes exactly 🙏
Sorry if I did not recall correctly. I thought you had already been to Vientiane. Anyway, wish you could have stayed longer and discovered other parts of this very special city!
Yes this was my first trip to Vientiane, and it was a somewhat quick stop on my way south to Thakhek. There is so much to see in Laos during a one month Visa stay
I hope this time you stay in Vientiane longer. Honestly, it is our favorite city in Laos. It is not a touristy city and maybe that is why. It is so authentic. We just love the everyday things you can do, cafes, restaurants, temples where monks love to chat. So so much! Love your videos. Please keep enjoying and keep them coming! Linda
Nice video, only good memories from Koh Phangan :) Just one question : $78.87 for a single dive ??
Single day, two dives. It’s a decently long boat ride from Koh’s Phangan to Sail Rock too
@@LeighsOffBackpacking It's perfect. Have a nice day, and trip :)

Are they still only selling tickets to locals and china citizens?
Anyone can buy a ticket now :)
From day one, anyone with a valid document can buy the ticket. I don’t know where you got that wrong information from.
@@julioduan7130 youtube lol
Pretty much every single online discussion I have encountered on this train, before it was open to the public, predicted that it would only attract very few passengers for a variety of reasons. Now I think those people just didn't want to see the train fail just because it's built by China 😅
Your minibus driver seemed chill. We did a visa run to Penang from Surat Thani and about 2 hours from the Malaysia border we were passed off to another minibus. This guy drove like Fast & Furious and the entire time it felt like the front wheel was going to wobble off the axle. What an experience lol
Haha yes, total luck of the draw. Half the time you're just praying you wind up going in the right direction. Makes for some fun stories at least! :)
There's a spider on ur head right now 🕷
you saved my life 🙏🙏🙏
