Hello Philippe HGT, what was your useable load with the Jabiru 2200 on Avid MK 4?
This Avid is registered Ultra light in France so max t/o weight is 450kg with 280kg empty weight so 170 kg usable load (including fuel ) .. best regards , Phil

Hello , first i was planning to do it myself, but I finally find one for sale in Canada ! But it’s pretty easy to assemble one ( you can find by jabiru resellers the parts engine side and you just have to adjust and weld tubings from this parts to aircraft side )
How wide is the cabin in the Avid Flyer Mk4? Old Avid Aircraft of Montana info says 44" but that seems wide for that model. If that is correct that is pretty accomadating. Would. 2 200# ers fit in these?😁 I had Model C Heavey Hauler back in the day.
Hello 44’’ is for the Avid Magnum , Avid flyer is 39,5’’ wide .

Bonjour Philippe, belle réalisation ! Je m'intéresse à l'acquisition d'un avid lite mk4 nu pour y installer un 4 temps (912 ou jabiru) mais je me heurte à la question administrative. Celui-ci était équipé initialement d'un 582, la modification majeure que cela entraine ne doit-elle pas être accompagnée d'une note de calcul ? Comment as-tu fait pour cette conversion ? Merci !

Hard to say, I have modified so much; EFI; mapped inductive spark ignition; Airmaster constant speed prop; water cooled heads, dedicated barrel cooling. I have achieved complete control over temperatures with EGT; barrel temps; O2 engine pressures and temps logged and displayed. In the air I have no adjustment apart from throttle with the ECU controlling all corrections, pumps, mixtures. With the Link ECU referencing BAP, not MAP my tune at 300’ is correct at 9,000’ going over the Main Divide here in NZ. My goal was to be able to sit at WOT permanently when required for the big climbs on hot days which I have achieved.

Hi Philippe, Jabiru sounds great and runs smooth. I also have a Jabiru 2200 on my Avid Flyer but with a 2 blade Sensenich wooden prop. What type of prop do you use? Also, do you have any problems keeping the CHTs warm. On winter days I cannot keep the CHTs at the proper temperature. Any ideas to warm up the CHTs? Ron in Ohio USA
Hi Ron , The coldest day i fly here in France was -2°C and no problem with CHTs , my prop is a 3 blades NR-PROP 162cm ( but perhaps not the best for Avid/Jabiru/Extendend Speedwings ...) if you have email adress i could send you som pictures of my setup (cooling) .. Best regards , Phil

Hello sir! I’m curious. Is that the NR propeller? How do you like it? Is it the 107 or 106? And what engine and gearbox ratio do you have? That is a well finished avid, beautiful plane! I have a mark IV heavy hauler with the rotax 618.
Hello , yes it's an NRProp SR45-162, 3 blades , the engine is a Jabiru 2200a , this prop is working quite good with this engine. Thank you for the compliment .

As one of the only sources for Simonini info I’m surprised to not see any comments wondering what lead you to swap to another motor and what your thoughts are for others looking at the Simonini for a lower cost, lower weight, 100 hp power plant? Thanks in advance for your thoughts.
Hello , Simonini Victor 2 is a powerful lightweight engine . It allows you to drive big propeller with low fuel burning . The only thing that made me change for the Jabiru is that I love smoothness and sound of the Jabiru . With the Simonini I had big vibrations at low rpm and I definitively not like the sound . More generally I have difficulties to deal with 2 strokes . I find that the Jabiru 2200 85hp is a great power plane for the Avid Flyer . This engine is also lightweight ( exactly the same empty weight as with the Simonini)

Bonjour Simone , J'avais tout simplement de mal à me faire au 2 temps . Le jabiru est un vrai moteur "d'avion" avec un son moins agressif et il ne vibre quasiment pas . Pas de problèmes particuliers avec le SImonini

@@philippehgt1791 ti confermo che fino ai 4000 giri, ci sono vibrazioni. Dai 5000 giri il motore è perfetto. Ha molti cavalli in più del 582. La marmitta due in uno non mi ha fatto perdere cavalli. A 5000 giri, viaggio a 120/130 kmh.

Any vibration issues with this engine?
Hello Julian . Much vibrations at low rpm ( below 3000 ) , idle is set at 2100 rpm , vibrations are much more important than a 4 strock engine but I have never compare with a 582 ...but at cruise power (5500 rpm) no vibrations ...
@@philippehgt1791 Hi Philippe thanks for your prompt reply, I am also interested in what temperatures you see, EGT, CHT, and water ? we have a Victor2 S on a Swift2 and are experiencing some cooling issues. Our EGTs go high (over 600 degC) on decent with no throttle
@@juliant701 Hello Julian I have for the moment just a few flights with the Simonini . EGTs are always under 580°C ,CHTs 90°C max and water about 70°C .If EGTs are to hight with no throttle you run perhaps to lean at idle (my idle jet is 40).
