I'd call it the first '3rd Generation' isekai. 3rd Gen is also the era that made the genre absurdly popular, it covers most of the 2010s up until the last few years where(thanks largely to Slime) we're moving into 4th Gen. 1st Generation Japanese isekai is stuff like Alice in Wonderland the anime, Magic Knight Rayearth, or Digimon.(this era especially was a huge influence on Western Isekai). Second Generation is the SAO and Dot Hack era.

They slowly go insane, like its fucked up in a good way. I think thats what makes it different, is mentality is so close to what we real people might react. The desperation, the pride, the dispare and the constant fight against the insanity that they become a part of. It so fucking gooooood.

I love the remake, but I don't like the way too bright color scheme Also I think art is always about what it makes us feel.

I'm here now after i watched the anime, and if im not wrong, the pacing seemed to be the same length or twice as long. I didn't watched the OG-Anime, but i watched the amount of episodes. As S1 has 13 Episodes in the OG, the remake has 25 Episodes in Season 1. I dont know if this Remake combines Season 1 and 2 from the OG in S1, but as i read that there is a second Season confirmed for the remake, i guess that they stretched it out. Or there will be new content :D Im curious

If feels like adventure. Like Frieren and delicious in dungeon combined. But i like this one more. You map, you equip, train new skills, talk with party about tactics, you bring bags with you and collect loots. how it is important that a support role to sustain adventuring. Its nice that it was a priest that lead them and they stumble without a good leader.

Grimgar came out ahead of it's time. I think if it had a second chance and released for the first time now, it would do a lot better just because it's a bit of a counter to a lot of trash and bloat that is isekai releasing now. It more aligns with what people want now then what they wanted in 2016. At least imo

The author "Rifujin Na Mago no Te" did a great job making the characters feel human (this is specially true in the light novel). Almost all Mushoku Tensei characters have their own goals, their own problems, their own past, they often fail, or do things they regret (either at the time or later). All of them could be the main character in a story. By the way... "Rifujin Na Mago no Te" looks like a pen name. Just by the sound alone it could mean "the hand of an unreasonable grandchild", haha... Though if he is using other kanji to produce the same sounds then it could mean something else...

The show is now on episode 20 and sparked me to rewatch the old 2008 adapation, I didn't get enough of it, so I read the manga and still didn't have enough so I read the entire light novel and I now feel so happy about the entire series, and it's ending (because yes it technically ended), but I now feel really empty making me realize how much I cared for the characters and the story.

I had to take a 3 month break after I saw the ship scene, and only started again because I kept telling myself it not as bad as i thought. Which is not true. I was 17 at the time of watching it. spice and wolf is my all time favorite. i actualy plan to wear cosplay verison of her dress that she wear on vol 17 on the day of my wedding. the dress and outfit not 100% cosplay tho. still waiting for my boyfriend to pop the question

i whached spice and wolf the old version and it was good . i liked because Holo was more mature in the old anime . in the new anime Holo is very young looking . young Holo do not work for older audience .

good video. i think the new one does a pretty good job conveying negative emotions too in my opinion. personaly I didnt grow up with the original(was 17 but probably wouldnt have appreaciated it.) i watched both and enjoy both but the remake just clicks more for me. i think what i like is that TO ME, it does the books better and i think the facial animations help with the emotional tone much like the lighting did in the original. I think what helped too is the voice actors had a decade plus to improve their craft and it shows. obviously they are good in the original but they knock it out of the park HARD in the remake at times. I also just prefer her design more in the remake. anyway its personal preference., great video.

I watched the OG 8 times the reason i watched it 7 times was because i loved it, the 8th time because before the new one got released i found out it had a spanish dub, i'm currently watching the new one in jp and in english. Don't criticize it too much, people get mad, i made a comment on how the og made two scenes better and some guy got butt hurt over it, i personally like the old one a bit better just because of the art style.

Oh man you nailed what I have been feeling about the remake and the original. The original is my fav anime and has a significant impact with me because i watched it with my partner and we both got invested in it to the point it's our anime. The relationship was so real and knew how to make use feel, like when Lawrence was desperate to get her back only for him and the audience to realise he never lost her. The remake made me hopeful but nervous as well, i wanted more but i didnt want a letdown either. Didnt want it to lessen the original and what that ment to use either, so we have been putting off watching it for a while, even now we are waiting for the the full dub. Also i usually get flack for this but i love and prefer the original art style more than the LN, Holo is perfect in the og anime.

Really good video! Small criticism: be careful with music audio during the parts where you’re talking. it was way too loud at certain times making it quite straining to hear you in what is quite a calming video.

Great work! that was a really sane review and I like it. Cases like SnW will always give rise to divergent opinions, there are those reminiscent of the past, and those who advocate the future. The fact is, the two versions separated by more than 15 years already, do not intend to take each other's place, nor should they, they represent different moments in the history of the anime industry and should also represent different moments in the heart of each one of their fans. The old journey was truly unforgettable, the new one will also be!

My favorite series ever created and probably will stay that way until I day (unless a series that fits the bills and somehow is better which I highly doubt comes out). But I agree that nostalgia and the overall feel while very different, is still the same at its core and I'm just glad to see it back one way or another. Amazing analysis like always.

I don't like the remake, but that's ok. I'll always have the original. I'm glad this show is introducing Spice and Wolf to new people, in a way that's faithful to the source material. If they don't like certain aesthetic elements, they can always go watch the original adaptation, read the manga, or even get into the light novels. All of it is necessary in conveying certain aspects of the story in different but unique ways, giving the characters as a whole a multiplicity to them that is hard to find in other stories. What so great about mushuko tensia is, you dont forget thats there a whole world there. A problem with alot of anime, is you lose track of the world at large and the only person that matters or people are the ones on the screen.

Spellsinger by Alan Dean Foster was written in 1983, has a very Alan Dean Isekai feel. A collage guy summoned from our world to a place of talking animals. Also Alice in wonderland is essentaly an Isekai as well.

Can't believe it's been 2 years since the remake announcement but I am so glad that it's happening. The original is beautiful but flawed. I am praying the new remake follows the original story closely. Though the animation isn't as polished as the original but it's still fitting for the story. Everyone should give this a watch

Your argument is dumb because you're criticizing the ecchi series for adding ecchi moments As for R+V the manga S1 didn't even have much of a plot and it's a lotta ecchi anyway, the panels you showed are S2 manga which wasn't even made until much later after the anime already aired

the only disappointing part for me is that they used Li shuwen as the lancer rather than Nagao Kagetora it would have been a serious tone for the guda guda cast
