Frick Sawmill Producing Pine Lumber

I sawed mostly Pine inch boards with a 2X8 at the end of each log. I also sawed a Cherry 7X7 mantel for Michael. We are slowly learning how to operate the MinerEdger. We mess up a lot, but that is to be expected. The new saw that Brett gave me is a whole lot nicer than the other one. Please watch all the video and see how nice the saw is running today.

😊😊 did U check ✔️ 😊 and see 👀 😮 if any of the saw bits were broken off U have 2 replace them theres no fixing them and the saw blade saws alot better when its sharp all of the time ⏲️ 😊 and it doesnt leave saw marks on the lumber either 😊😊 most people use a electric saw sharper 2 day 4 the round circle saw blade I have seen them sharpen W a hand ✋️ 😊 crank sharper and a flat file U have 2 the edge at the top sharp and square ⬛️ 😊 the saw bits cuts the best 👌 😊 like this they dont like dirt mud or grit 😮😮 a chainsaw chain is the same way its not going 2 cut if its not sharp and wont keep a edge on it when the chain is gone there will teeth on 1 side and not the other theres nothing left 2 sharpen any more the old chain is ready 4 the metal pile and no rocks either or nails or fence wire that will ruin a chain worse than anything always keep this in your mind just trying 2 help U will think 🤔 😮 about this when the saw blade or chainsaw chain wont cut thats why 😊😊 OMG 12 25 2O24
@clarencetrice4442 yes there were several busted bits. I appreciate all the advice and Merry Christmas
There was a man out in Baton, not too long ago, when his house was new, planted Leland Cyprus or cedar or something as a buffer from Connelly Springs Road and his neighbors, I presume, all around his lot. Well, The tree grew quickly, tall, full and strong, and soon his house wasn't even visible from the road. He had achieved his goal. Yes? Well maybe no! On Sept 27, 2024 Helene came along and his trees got in her way. The trees were no match for Helene's wrath and all of them fell, like dominos except for a few in one corner. None of them broke, all were uprooted. The front row, parallel to Connelly Springs all fell into the power, phone and cable lines along with their poles and transformers. Amongst all the carnage sits his house now, from all appearances still new, with a clear view of Connelly Springs Road and its accompanying sounds, and with three or four of these trees still standing in the far back corner as a reminder of why we should learn to live with nature instead of bucking up in its face. All that remains of the destruction now is a series of holes around the man's property with only three or four containing anything. Even if the man in Baton didn't learn a lesson from this, I did! Merry Christmas! Ed
@papaw5405 Those types of trees act as a giant sail. Merry Christmas
@@templehillsawmill1748 People plant those trees too close together so that they can't grow a proper root system. Once they start to block the other's sunlight the lower limbs start to die back. If people would plant them twice as far apart and cut them off at about ten feet they would spread and fill in the gaps.

Looks like that blade is cutting good. I’ve been setting up a 01 frick. Got everything running yesterday but still have to set up the roller tables and build a platform and set the log bunks. Had an old Cory mill years ago and sold it when I got a woodmizer about 15 years ago.

Looking good Shannon. Hard work and determination pay off. Hope you all have a Merry Christmas.
@@AndruwsLumber Merry Christmas to you and all your family as well. I appreciate it
Looking good, Shannon. It's great that it's running like you had hoped. Here's a couple of observations (maybe I'm out of line). First, mount a sight in line with the fixed blade on the edger (like Mark Galicic has). That would make it easier for him to line up the boards. Second, show him how Andruw off loads boards. That would save him about half of the lifting. Merry Christmas. Bill
@williamellis8993 I appreciate it. Those are good ideas to pass along. I'll be thinking about how to get that added on there. It sure would help the ole boy. Thank you for watching and commenting
Can't tell for sure, but the boards don't appear to be passing through straight and may end up causing a curved edge.
If it is, I'm sure it's mostly due to dull bits. I need to sharpen them. Very dull. Thanks for watching and commenting
Morning Shannon. The saw is sounding good today And your guy there will get the hang of the edger just needs some practice to figure out the best way to get the lumber from the roll case without having to wear himself out another guy would be great but you will figure it all out
I appreciate you watching and commenting!

Have ya given any thought to covering the mill to protect it from the weather? It looks like it’s working pretty well now! Merry Christmas & Happy New Year from Maine!
hi there looks like you got it running just right , short sleaves , HUM 14 degrees in my yard , best to all and Merry Christmas ,John
I think that sawing was last week, but yup, we were 15 this morn. I did get 7 little pine logs out from behind the garden on the frozen ground though. One more setup I've seen, on the outfeed roller tables. If there was a gap between 2 of them near the downstream end. A pair of inclined pipe railings that, as you step through the gap pushing the slab sideways off the roller tables, the slab slides up the rails which go up and extend over a set of uprights and bunks to catch and corral the slabs for forking later. Then straight off the end was the stacks.
@Don_P.717 that sounds like a good idea. I appreciate it and thank you for watching and commenting
It's not been to bad at being cold. I saw your video last night saying it was 12 or so degrees. I don't do that kind of cold. Thanks for watching and commenting
The guy that's helping you looks like BJ Honeycut from Mash. Those logs sure are nice and putting out nice lumber
Well, thank you. It's been a blessing, getting to work with some great guys like that.
I appreciate it and thank you for watching and commenting. A wormy BJ
Just how old was your old saw blade anyhow?
That's a good question. The Saw Dr. said by using the serial numbers on the blade it is likely to be around 15 years old. Around abouts. The blade I'm using now that he gave me was manufactured in 1972 and that's the year the mill was manufactured also.
Running great again 😊
It sure is. Thanks for watching!
We use marks in the log to identify alignment of saw to the log. Different logs with timber bind or rot, can affect it. . Granted for are mill, the log is stationary, and the saw blades are moving. . ua-cam.com/video/CnVcOUq9_7Q/v-deo.htmlfeature=shared
