How to play Angle Park by Big Country - guitar lesson
Переглядів 1,2 тис.2 роки тому
How to play Stuart Adamson’s guitar parts from Angle Park. I show you the amp and effects used at the end. The guitar is a Yamaha SG2000. I recommend you pay attention to the finger positions and note sounds more than my fret number descriptions, as I clearly can’t count when I get past the 12th fret at one point!

Big Country One Great Thing guitar parts
Переглядів 1,6 тис.2 роки тому
A play through One Great Thing by Big Country. I used a live recording where the guitars were swapped from their usual sides, so Stuart Adamson’s parts are panned left/left hand video, and Bruce Watson’s are on the right. Effects wise, there’s a high octave effect throughout the Bruce parts except during the first half of each verse, and both guitars have reverb added at the desk, plus Bruce’s ...
Big Country Fields of Fire guitar tones recreated
Переглядів 9212 роки тому
An attempt to recreate the guitar tone from the Studio version of Fields of Fire. The guitar (Yamaha SG) was tuned up around 2.5 semitones, and had done tuning tricks like slightly flattening the 2nd string and careful fretting to get the major thirds in tune. Guitar sound was Line6 Gearbox, and there’s an MXR pitch transposer set to 12.0 / mix at 40-50% and no regen on the high notes and the s...

Big Country Look Away Live Guitars play through
Переглядів 9943 роки тому
A second run through Look Away, this time with Stuart Adamson’s guitar part the way he played it live. Differences are: - the modulated delay sound used in the verses is also on the solos - the solos are played on the neck pickup and feature various embellishments - there is no pitch transposer effect at all, just delay
Big Country Look Away guitar play through

Played over Look Away (Robin Millar single mix). Bruce Watson’s parts on the left. Levinson Blade on middle/bridge position with treble/bass active on. Switching between clean and dirty amp sounds, with a small amount of delay on the clean sound. Stuart Adamson’s parts on the right. Gibson Les Paul standard, treble pickup on the lead parts and chorus, neck pickup on the verses. Switching betwee...
Rain Dance by Big Country guitar play through

Rain Dance guitar parts played alongside a live recording. Bruce Watson’s part on the left, guitar tuned to open D5. The guitar parts are a combination of slide, open and fretted notes. Stuart Adamson’s on the right, regular tuning.
Restless Natives - Steeltown by Big Country, played live 4/12/21
Переглядів 1 тис.3 роки тому
Using a heavier sound than the Steeltown lesson I shared a while back, and more power chords in the chorus, but the guitar parts themselves are almost between this ‘Safety Net’ style version and the earlier renditions.

Big Country Angle Park guitar play through
Переглядів 2,1 тис.3 роки тому
Stuart Adamson’s guitar part from Angle Park. Some of the licks are not as simple as they might appear! I’ve panned my guitar to the left and the track to the right so you can isolate the guitar if you like. Guitar - Yamaha SG2000 Amp - HH VS Musician combo Effects - MXR Pitch Transposer set to -0.2 for a detuned chorus effect, mix set to 40%, regen to zero, plus a short delay via a TC Flashbac...

Big Country Fields of Fire guitar lesson
Wow you guys nailed this timeless classic... and you can't do this without a fantastic drummer! Very well done!!
One of my favorite BC songs as well. Always wondered how Stuart crafted that riff. Fantastic!
One of my most favourite BG songs!
Big Country, one of the most underrated bands. There sound and arrangements of songs are amazing
I wish they had one pedal with all the effects
Wow... makes you realise how crafted the Big Country sounds were. Amazing when you watch Stuart and Bruce jumping around on stage and having so much fun that we're also keeping track of all this too! Thanks for showing us how you dod it (sounds so authentic, even down to the mini slides and picking) Brilliant :)
It's the same type of style that Stuart used during his time with the skids. He developed it to another level with big country.
Absolutely nailed it! Such beautiful harmonics going on with Big Country, but having said that, would you expect any less? 😉
Congrats on joining Big Country Tommie. Saw you in Dunfermline 2 days ago. Brilliant, you could have been Stuart! Cheers!
Amazing
Absolute genius of a video and a nice guy too! 😎 see you soon
Brilliant Tommie I’ll be mastering this over weekend Happy birthday big man!
Long live the eternal highlands voice of Big Country!!
Class 👍
Do you have a gig list for 2025
This is brilliant thank you!
40 years later I finally understand...! Thanks!
Great tone!
Thank you. Still one of favorite bands....
Amazing for Stuart to come up with that to start with!
Excellent covers!
Nicely done
Love to see "kids" my age getting fired up dancing. I would be right in the mix
Wow! Can you explain which settings on which tools you used to so perfectly recreate the sound? I've always been curious if I could make a guitar wail like "bagpipes" the way Big Country did. I mean, I have read articles that mention the equipment they used in vague terms, but how it was patched together and what the knobs were set to is just as important when using equipment that versatile. I think you are the only person who has delved deeply enough into the BC sound to know the real answer.
Great sound and feel well done love this
Great cover 👌
Best cover yet ✌👍
AWESOME ! i VE , just watched your gig in belfast with B.C.
sloppy as fuck
brilliant - will be learning this weekend
I want to do a Big Country live tribute band SO BAD!
It’s too bad you don’t live close to me. I know the bassline to this song very well.
Excellent !!
The Marshall 18-watt is historic, the ultimate example of untamed tube power. After a lot of research, I ended up buying a Sound City Studio 20 because it’s often compared to the 18-watt. I’ve got a video on my channel if you’re interested in hearing it! The cleans are solid, but the overdrive really stands out. I'd appreciate your feedback!
It was great seeing you with Big Country in Linlithgow great gig.
Amazing! Are those all Stuart’s licks or Bruce’s too? How long did it take you to nail this?
@@billbreed a mixture! I studied clips to see what and how the guys were playing the licks, and the sounds were built up from knowledge of the building blocks of their sound (combination of clean/dirty amp, delay and pitch transposer effects).
@@marshallheadkt66 very impressive ! Phenomenal work! 👏👏
Well done! As a guitar player I am humbled seeing the chords, the notes and the shear energy evoked. Watching you play this makes me feel like I did when I first listened to these songs 40 years ago. Thank you for sharing this magic!
😮😮😮😮😮😮😮😮😮
Enjoyed the Vaughan Williams intro.
Beyond brilliant
An absolute belter. Great job guys!
Saw tommie filling big shoes on Saturday night. Balls of steel. ✌
And the new singer in big country is?🙂 saw them Saturday night in my hometown and they were class and loud.✌
Wow, great job 👏
Nice distortion tone! Oof
Ace tommie
🎉wow🎉 amazing 🤩… congratulations Tommie. Hope to see you and the lads play in the land down under. Stay Alive 🎸🎼
🎉🎉🎉 amazing version
Hey Tommie, watched you playing and singing with the BC boys last night in St Helens. Absolutely brilliant!!!
Very THOTFUL
