I don't remember this site. There was a site on Radar Road in Stillwater, up on the ridge. But it didn't have this much left. I remember seeing a site where it was still intact that overlooked the Mohawk River valley and the radome was intact, and the rotating radar dish inside was still working. It was green and looked like a giant golf ball 100 feet in diameter and height. There structures had huge radomes on top that looked like giant golf balls painted green That tower in the distance is a cell site with 1 company The closet tower looks like the a county repeater for the public safety system. It has microwave backhaul links pointing to other towers, so I would guess they use a 700 MHz phase 2 simulcast trunked system. All the towers would be linked by the backhaul 12 GHz or maybe 29 GHz point to point microwave links. When I used to film sites back in the 90s I would always get video of the active site ID contact signs

This is a perfect of example of how most of society sees and believes prisons/correctional facilities are supposed to be in their eyes. Do these guys believe they just put people in a cell for a few years not providing any services and just allow them back into society when their sentences are over? “Why isn’t their more security here?” “Why are there no cells?” “I don’t understand why this place wasn’t more secure.” These guys watch to much MSNBC Lock Up.

    • @TheLukeExplores

For me, I really would go immediately to the infrastructure rooms. I would look for sub basements and the Telco rooms and power vaults I was working for the state during hurricanes Irene and Lee and we had to set up emergency operations centers for different agencies to use, and one of the facilities we were told to go to that had the infrastructure, and we had to bring the radios and the power supplies for them and program them to each frequency, but the antenna arrays were there as were the large operations center was at a prison. They told us where the access door was and I had the key and the guards didn't know the place existed We went down a steep set of concrete steps about 3 stories underground and opened a thick blast door and there was a WW2 bunker, completely intact, with the OCD barrels and boxes and the long table bolted to the wall and the antenna connectors each labeled for the band and there was a power room and the whole wall had 20 amp outlets and we hooked up the 30 amp 12 volt DC regulated power supplies to the radios and laptops and the radio antenna connectors to antenna tuners and SWR power meters and we tested each radio and the antennas and made contact with the different states and county agencies The down side was that they had a lot of low band antennas which are no longer used, and they didn't have any 700 or 800 band antennas They had VHF which is mostly what we used and we used 2 UHF antennas for the 460 to 470 MHz range Frequencies I really don't like how much the agencies use and rely on digital encrypted 700 and 800 band systems For the actual disasters, we used analog VHF for almost every agency It works really well and everyone can get onto the Frequencies easy enough. We handed out a bunch of Kenwood radios that had 26 channels, and the list was on the back of the radio as to who each channel was. The digital systems are a nightmare to try and use in an emergency Even the state went back to using the VHF analog frequency because the digital systems kept failing and no one could talk to dispatch We just had another storm like the Irene and Lee disaster Back then most of Vermont was destroyed by flooding, as was the Schoharie Valley area and lower tier The exact same thing just happened again It boggles my mind that people rebuild in the same place, in the flood plane And they couldn't get insurance, so this time, they are wiped out. They can't rebuild. It is awful
