AeroPress Brewing Guide + Reasons For Choosing AeroPress Over V60
Hello! I'll show you how I brew AeroPress coffee.
Check my other video for V60 here( also, I talked about my simple coffee brewing principle in the video.) :
ua-cam.com/video/tQN3MaHW75E/v-deo.htmlsi=1qLiTC551OMQ2bBg
I’ll guide you step-by-step through making a perfectly balanced cup of coffee and share my principle of even extraction.
The recipe I used in the video:
Ratio 1:18 (15g coffee : 270g water)
Grind TIMEMORE C3 MAX PRO 12clicks
Water Temp 99℃
Wait time 2min+
Coffee used Curated Coffee Series: P’ Kaleb (Java with Kombucha Fermentation) by Roots shop.rootsbkk.com/collections/coffee/products/kaleb-java-kombucha-100g-coffee
Tips for Brewing Success:
Even extraction is the holy grail of extraction.
Extraction goes up when:
Higher water-to-coffee ratio: More water means more chances to pull solubles out of the coffee, but too much water can weaken the coffee.
A finer grind setting creates more surface area for water to interact with, helping extract more flavour from the coffee.
Higher brew temperature: Hotter water extracts more solubles, and there’s no significant downside to even extraction. However, for medium to dark roasts, I use lower temperatures (85-94°C) to avoid pulling too much bitterness(there are a lot of them in darker roasts!).
Longer brew time: More time allows for more extraction, but the return on investment diminishes after a few minutes. Waiting longer will not make much difference.

Introduction - Welcome to my coffee channel, this is my first post

Welcome to my UA-cam channel. Please let me know what you would like to know about coffee, coffee culture and life in Japan, starting a coffee brand etc,, and please consider subscribing if you want to lea. Cheers!
I like the way you calmly explain the way you brew. V60 is certainly my favorite way when it comes to brewing coffee. And 英語が本当に上手ですNE! Doushite! Sugoiyo :) I wonder how you feel about bypassing, like when you pour 160g of water for 20g of coffee and add 100~120g of water. Maybe an idea for another video? haha! Thank you and have a great coffee life!
Hey this is a great tutorial. I pretty exclusively drink lighter roasts and I've recently started to prefer my Aeropress over V60, it pulls out more flavor and it's much more consistent to brew with. Great video, good luck on your new channel!
Thanks, glad you enjoyed it! I also prefer lighter roasts and find AeroPress to be great for them. with V60 you quickly hit the limit to how fine you can grind, so it’s tricky when you’re dealing with very light and/or dense coffee. Somehow I can’t be bothered to use it when I’m not on the road - so my daily driver remains v60 or hario switch but this may be irrational 😂
Greetings from Kyiv, Ukraine 🇺🇦🫶🇯🇵
hey brother, Слава Україні 🇺🇦
hey good video. it would be nice if you would include also the steps or water/coffee ratio in the video description so that people can look there too after watching the video.
hey thank you for that! I will include the breakdown of the recipe :) good idea 👍
Hello Yuta, can you share yours TIMEMORE C3 MAX PRO grind size settings, TY. Nice video!
thx! my current set up is at around 10 - 12 clicks. from 13 clicks it felt a bit under extracted in where I stayed ( southern Europe ). let me know how your experience goes if you tried it 👍
Very nice video on the Aeropress! One thing I was missing in the end was how you experienced the result of the brew. Perhaps you can tell the audience a bit more about the flavours, texture, mouthfeel, etc., you're experiencing?
Oy that's a good point. I wasn't sure if people would wanna watch me drink and talk about it, but now that you pointed out I think that's a good way to wrap this brewing guide. Thank you for your feedback!
@@yutamtsmt Yeah, it felt like the video ended a bit abruptly because of it. You explained the brewing process very clearly so it seems like a natural follow up. Keep up the good work!
You’re very right. Will improve in the future. Cheers mate!
I agree re brewing stronger. Thanks for the tip! C
Thanks for the video. Going in the opposite direction to Asia and taking Aeropress Go Plus and Rhino hand grinder (small). Hope you are having a good time in Europe.
Thanks for watching! Good going with the Aeropress and a hand grinder. How's your experience with Aeropress Go? Which countries are you visiting? Hope you a good time in Asia too :)
@yutamtsmt Travelling to Malaysia only. Currently experimenting with different recipes. I'm a 'with cream' person so quite outside polite coffee society. Also experimenting with ghee as cream may not be easily available. C
cool! I’d brew pretty strong coffee if mixing with milk/cream 👍
Do you have stock burrs in your grinder?
I use DLC(Diamond Like Coating) burr. Harder than the stock burr and works well with light roast even for espresso:)
@yutamtsmt what is your grind setting for pour over?
usually between 25-30, even finer for very light and coarser for dark :)
I tried my friend’s same grinder today and 45-50 was more suitable. it looks each machine has different calibration 😅
@@yutamtsmtI think you are right. 25 - 30 is very fine on my grinder. I was using that for aeropress. I think 60 - 70 is better for v60. I have the DLC burrs.
Hey Yuta! Found the channel by chance and enjoyed the vibe! Good luck with it! Cheers from Portugal
hey Gonçalo, thank you for watching and for your kind words! glad you enjoyed the vibe, hope you’ll stick around for more :) cheers!
Hello Yuta, thank you for starting this channel!! You are great, I just saw your other video on the v60. Good luck!! Cheers from Brazil!
Hi Adriano, thank you for watching and for the kind words! If you tried the technique, let me know how it went :)
My favorite way to make coffee is French press and pour over. I use 12g of coffee for 225g of water at 93C 😎
Nice, what kind of coffee beans are you brewing, and how's the experience?
This video popped up on my feed and happy I clicked on it! I would be interested to see more of Japan coffee culture. By the way, what kettle is that? I love the spout. Also are you using James Hoffman's 1 cup technique here? if not, it would be cool to know what technique you use. Looking forward to your future videos. Good luck!
Thank you for watching and the kind comment! I use Yamazen Kettle - it's a Japanese home appliance company but I also found them on amazon.com amzn.to/49D1nNm Yes I tend to learn a lot from James Hoffman, Matt Perger, Jonathan Gagné, and Scott Rao so I guess it's a mashup technique. I think all we are aiming do is to extract more and more evenly! I talked more about it in the latest video. I'm trying to come up with the format to talk about Japanese coffee scene - so stay tuned :)
Cheers from Mexico and congrats on your first post! it would be cool to know more details about the Coffee you used like the region in Mexico and variety.
Hola hermano! The coffee I used came from Chiapas region and varieties are Bourbon, Mundo Nova, and Caturra. Me encantan los cafés y los tacos azules de México!
WOW, guys, thank you SO MUCH for watching and the warm welcome! Honestly, I'd never expected any viewership for my first video, let alone comments! So thank you. One of my motivations for starting the channel is to connect with people with similar interests as mine, and it's super cool to learn you guys are such a welcoming and helpful tribe. Thank you for the content ideas; learning what interests you is really helpful. Hope to see you guys in the next videos! Cheers,
Congratulations for starting! I wish you all the best in your business, with your channel but also in your personal life!
Hi Laurentiu, thank you for your kind words! So nice of you. I wish the same for you and hope to add value to your life with my content!
happy that you started this channel, hope to see more videos and all you have to share with us!
Hello Enzo and thank you for the welcoming comment! Let's explore the world of coffee together :)
Hi Yuta, congratulations on starting your new channel. Thanks for the v60 video, I’m excited to see what you come up with next! If you’re looking for video ideas I’d love to hear more about your v60 technique in detail. Do you use aeropress at all? That would be a neat video as well.
Hi Julian, thank you for watching and for your nice words. I'm glad you enjoyed the introduction video with v60. I will be writing more about the detailed brewing technique in the future. I also quite like Aeropress and will be talking about it in the future. Thank you for the ideas!
Hi Yuta, this video randomly popped up in my feed. It was cool to hear about your coffee journey. I just returned from Japan, and at the moment I'm curious to learn more about your country and its coffee history. A video on Japanese drippers later perhaps? And welcome to UA-cam!
Hello Asser, thank you for the warm welcome and for letting me know your interest! How was your trip to Japan? I will make a video on coffee history in the future! The Dripper game will also be an interesting topic. I checked out your channel. Congratulations on your successful coffee channel and website! I really enjoyed your video, "I have been a coffee geek for 16 years. Here's my best advice." and I am now inspired to create a guide for people starting out as well. Looking forward to connecting more in the future!
If it makes for video material, I'd love to know if Japanese coffee culture has picked up anything from the tea culture.
Hey thank you for watching and the video idea, I appreciate it! Woo that's a cool topic to explore. Let's discuss that in the future!
Hello Yuta, not sure why this was recommended to me but great video! I'm also a University Graduate and am now a full time barista, with an interest in opening my own cafe oneday. Maybe if you could make a video about how you started a coffee business? Thanks again and good luck with your channel!
Hello Jack, thank you for watching and for the nice words! You're the first comment! What were you studying in uni, and how do you like being a full-time barista now? How exciting that you are also interested in starting your own brand. I will be making a video on how I started my coffee business. Thanks for the content idea!
@@yutamtsmt I studied History at uni - very interesting but quite hard to figure out a job for, so am thinking maybe coffee could be something cool to do in life, especially since I gain so much enjoyment out of the process of making good coffee.
Sorry for the late reply, I wasn’t aware a further reply doesn’t show up on the UA-cam Studio (I’m very new to the space). Very cool you studied history. I have a historian friend from America traveling and living across Asia. I think coffee could be fun space to explore for sure, and pairs well with many other endeavours should you choose in the future 👍
