It's easy to forget that fact when we hear someone speaking English so well. I speak a little in two other languages besides English, but I could not in any way express my emotions in either one. The $250 is about 14,000 pesos a month and it covers food/electricity/water and that is provided to them if she herself is working. They tried to lean on her early in our marriage for more and more and more, but we put a line in the sand and wont let them pressure her to cross it. 5 years later, we are happily married with two children, her parents learned to be content with food and shelter that she herself got a job to sustain. They no longer waste their breath trying to squeeze more. If they want more they can go get a job (which somehow escapes their motivation).

Why should he pay for everything, why not each pay for your own?. Until at least you know things will last between you, and he knows your worth spending cash on and you not just after him for his cash?, he can get women like that back home, you want him for him and he should want you for you, don't you think?.
