Game-Changer: Premier Lacrosse League Founder Puts Players First
The greatest entrepreneurial adventures take a lot of sleepless nights, a bias for action and a commitment to people. Starting a professional sports league is no different.
As we gear up for the first ever Stars and Stripes Classic, Fran Racioppi is joined by Mike Rabil, the co-founder of the Premier Lacrosse League. Mike and his brother Paul, started the league with a vision to put the players at the center of the business model.
From better pay, to open marketing, to benefits and equity in the league, they’re redefining how professional sports embraces their athletes.
Mike shared the market opportunity he and Paul saw in lacrosse and how they relentlessly pursued investment and support. He explained how giving players equity, access to marketing content and a seat at the table have created a more inclusive league. And he showed us where the sport is headed with regional affiliation.
They also previewed the Stars and Stripes Classic coming September 2 to Gillette Stadium where the bonds between lacrosse and Special Operations will face off for the very first time.
Take a listen, watch, or read our conversation with the business mind behind the PLL, then head over to our UA-cam channel or your favorite podcast platform to catch all the action from the Stars and Stripes Classic.
Don’t forget to go to Green Beret Foundation to join our 18 Series Match Challenge to support our team as the Snakeeaters take on the Frogmen.

From Soldier to Coach: what I learned

The details matter in winning and finding success. Elite performers relentlessly focus on the little things, while also embracing being part of something bigger than themselves. Performing at an elite level isn’t about doing special things. It’s about focusing on the basics and the fundamentals; then executing them with precision. A coach’s job is to harness the energy of the players and direct...

People are the US Army’s platform. Equipment, hardware and software matter, but at the end of the day, highly skilled people of character win wars. Professional war-fighting is the difference between compliance and commitment. It also requires consistency and an understanding that people are the Army’s most important weapon system. The responsibility for recruiting, training and retaining US Ar...

    - too woke - shit bags get promoted - pay isn’t competitive -Less time with family Why in the hell would someone enlist into an army for a country that cares more about lesbian moms and making soft commercials than trying to recruit a war fighting force. Y’all did it to yourself. Marines are small and for the most part solid, Army should worry about quality not quantity.

I think censorship has desensitized war. Let's not forget that war is not pretty. Modern war is absolutely atrocious. Imagine not having a body at your final resting place. Respect to the forces but wars shouldn't last forever.

Well SGM as a former Recruiter there is big disconnect you can’t control. The vast majority of our youth can not pass the ASVAB! Our public schools have failed this nation! Currently we are out of children. Do more with less? Really! As a Recruiter I was literally march right of some schools! Get out we don’t want Recruiters here! Of course there is the problem with what the public thinks of our military/government real public relations issue. I lived it I know the story well. It’s been said that other than a unit engaged in one on one contact with an enemy you will not find a group of Soldiers than Recuriters more of a mission. So I have a challenge for you SGM go to any public school of you choice introduce yourself set up your little table at carrier day find that young one and walk them through the Recruiting process. Oh and take your commander along let’s give them a mission also!

We are the most powerful country in the world but.. 1) The Taliban control Afghanistan. 2) The CCP controls China. 3) We can't defeat or topple Putin in Russia. 4) We certainly can't do anything in IRAN. 5) We lost in Afghanistan, Vietnam. We can only protect DEMOCRACY in countries like sirya, Lebnon, libiya, Bangladesh, Pakistan, etc. The fucking Joke 🤣

Main reason people aren't staying in my field is because Army can't dream to compete with contract salaries. Every year, I see SPC get out and jump straight into a contract making more than a SGM. This isn't something the Army can control. You can bring more and more new blood into the service, but the experience isn't staying in. This also has the unintended side effect of some MOSs depending on SSGs and SFCs reclassing into the MOS, which is about as good as a manager that watches everyone work. They rely too heavily on the E5s and E4s to teach the new guys, creating a tocis environment where the younger guys see the old guys as incompetent in their MOS, which makes those young Soldiers more likely to ETS. I don't think the Army can ever reach desired retention and recruitment numbers with so many compounding issues.
