Just fascinating. Its all there: melody, harmony, rhythm, percussion and......feel. How about a take on Mason Williams “Classical Gas”?

Cool song! It has a bit of a latin flavor to it which I dig. Glad I stumbled across this! I also got the courage some months ago to put some of my songs on UA-cam so finding other originals like this one is always cool and inspiring to me. Keep up the awesome work 🙂

Hey John very nice! Another great song.
Out of curiosity do you listen to other bass players on UA-cam? I’ve found a few that I really enjoy. Do you know Felix Martin, Charles Berthoud, Dmitry Lysenko or Zander Zonn just to name a few?
Have you ever played a harp bass?
Have you ever considered doing any collaborations with any of them or any other musicians that play bass or other instruments?
If you were ever to put together a supergroup who would you love to play with?

Thanks so much! I'm buddies with Felix and I've heard Charles and Zon, great players all of them! I haven't but it sounds like something I'd love! I'm working on a little thing with Felix at the moment actually but shhhhh.... but am also working on an album that I'll release later this year that revolves around me recording all the parts on bass. When I do shows with that project I'll have to find some other bassists to collaborate with :) and I have a band called "Consider the Source' which has been my main project for the last 15 or so years. And at this stage my life that supergroup would be the NY philharmonic haha!! Thanks for listening to my music my friend!

Are the percussive sounds just harmonics or is it both harmonics and drums? Pedal maybe? Sounds awesome

Thanks! So they are kind of like going for pinch harmonics but intentionally missing haha! I'll be posting a lesson video on it in the next month or so, but the main idea is that the right hand does it while the lefthand mutes the string.

I have to admit that tapping on the bass doesn’t have my favorite tone or timbre mostly because the same exact thing played on a piano would sound much better to me but you make this sound really good.
I can also see how it allows you to flex your compositional chops more than maybe fingerstyle or slapping might and you’re definitely a really talented song writer.
Always love seeing what you’re coming up with next!

Well coming from a tapping skeptic that’s a pretty high compliment ! I really appreciate it man!
