Life Post Stroke
Приєднався 11 січ 2019
This is my personal channel where I talk about dealing with the aftermath of having, 2, life altering strokes. I also post any video that doesn't make it onto my main channel, Hayes Tech.
So I will post music tech videos, and family oriented videos. So that will include guitar videos and at the other end of the spectrum, family stuff, like fishing and looking for reptiles.
I will also post videos of how I am dealing with having 2 strokes and getting on with life after the strokes
Please don't hesitate to ask questions or even post your Chronicles with life altering medical issues.

65 Epiphone Texan FT79N Adjustable Saddle Replaced
I accidently uploaded this video to my main channel, Hayes Tech, so I am putting it where it needs to be now. I basically remove the adjustable saddle and make it none adjustable.
I got this idea from watching a UA-cam channel called twoodfrd and say how he did it. He made a tightly fitting plug and did not glue it, so the guitar could go back to stock, if and when needed. Here is a link to just one of his videos:

Timber Rattlesnake Found On Ride In Mountains
They did it right? What. That would take all day maybe 2 to do it right. There is alot of framing that "looks " like it needs replaced. The floor was rotted away.
They replaced the rotted floor and even the sill plate. They also beefed up the framing. I didn't show that because the video would have been super long. Think what you will, thanks for the comment.
Oh my, this should have been on the main channel!
I would have put it over there but so many were complaining about the guitar videos. So I put review videos on my main channel and other videos, like this, over here. I absolutely love the sound of my 65 Texan now. I loved it before too, but now it is so resonant, and no more "clicky" sound...
@@HayesTech I'd ignore thos assholes! Upload this video there as well. Fantastic guitar, this Texan. The tone is SO cristalline! Thank you for an in-depth dive!
I had a stroke last year. At first the symptoms were like having a seizure, which turned out to be TIAs (mini strokes). Doctor's told me I had epilepsy. Spent a month and a half in hospital. My speech was vastly affected and recovering slowly. Yes, keep aspirin in your house, it can save your life. Thanks for sharing and continued recovery for you.
Well I hope you regain everything back. You have to work at it and don't give up. It's crazy how stroke effects people so differently too. Thank you for watching and for the comment, I do appreciate it.
@@HayesTech Yeah. One year out and I can drive (drive a standard), walk - all physical aspects have returned to “normal” so to speak but I am told since my speech area (Brocas area) was affected, that it might take a full two years for my speech pattern to return. I mean, it may never be like it used to be, but it is what it is. My doctor says It’s have a 10% deficit in mobility. Going to physical therapy twice a week. You are so correct that you have to keep working at it. Most folks who have a stroke or two, give up. I say if it didn’t kill you, you’re lucky but also never give up. Thanks for the prayers and I will pray for your recovery as well.
@@TheCards_HiddenLotusTarot My second stroke effected my right side and was 10 times worse than my first. It also effected my balance and that, I never got back. But I have kept playing guitar. I'll never give that up. I've only got to please me so it doesn't matter how bad I am any more... 😂 Anyways, good luck to you and it was nice talking. Thanks again.
Recording King RD328 sounds better to my ear i own one

Have you had to replace the drive belt on the mower?? I have the same mower and can't find a replacement belt!! Not the deck belt but the belt that goes from the motor to the rear differential!!
No I haven't. I know that the people we bought it from had the transmission belt replaced, or it may have even been the transmission, because the reverse went out. Mine's working fine so far.
The Hartford is the biggest bunch of crooks there is. They commit fraud against you with everything i have.
I had the Lowe’s sales person come measure and said I was anxious to get it done. I never heard from them again, and even after I called twice. What’s up with those flakes?
That's crazy.. well if they had done that to me, I would have made a video on that. I am sorry to hear that they treated you like that.
Thankyou for this helpful video many thanks keep up the great work to you both ✨👌
And thank you for watching and for the comment. I do appreciate it
I'm having problems lifting it up how do you lift it up the base
This video needs more views!
Lol... Yes, I totally agree. It's funny how UA-cam picks who's channel they are going to push and who they ignore. That's ok though, I make videos on my 2 channels to keep me busy. Since I can no longer work, after my 2nd stroke, I make videos. This channel is the one that I do little editing and I spend more of my time over on my main channel, Hayes Tech. But thank you so much for watching and for leaving a comment. I really do appreciate it.
How do you let it up?
Not sure what you mean by "let it up". Sorry about that.
If you mean lift it into the up position, all you have to do is lift up the walking belt. It hinges. When it's in the full upright position it's locked up and you have to push on the collar to unlock it. I use my foot to unlock it. After it's unlocked you can actually let the walking belt go and it will lower under the shocks back pressure. I hope that was the info that you were looking for.
I bought it (R18 Arien) last 2022/2023 winter, and it is a pain in the (?????) I am selling it)) Fresh snow 4" ok
As I said in the video, it does the job. But that's it. I can shovel snow faster. If you were using this for sidewalks only, then yes, I could see using it. But to do a driveway, or any large area it's just too narrow, underpowered and not self propelled. All of which are good to have when shoveling a driveway or parking area.
@@HayesTech I am too old and getting lazy to push it around. I bought 2 stages and a SELF-PROPELLED option P.S. R18 is good for young "rabbits"
How has this held up?
It's holding up very well. I'm still using it and nothing has broken or has been damaged yet. I had to tension the belt about a month ago, just a smidge, but that's normal belt stretch. I keep it oiled as described and so far so good. I can still highly recommend it. It's too bad they couldn't have give me a kickback for the video...lol...
@HayesTech yeah they should give you something. You did a great review on it. I was talking to you on here a couple months ago. I'm still using my old treadmill (but it's gonna die soon). I hope your health is good. God bless you. Lisa
@@ll-qq9qr Well you won't go wrong with this one. Thank you Lisa.

A great update on this amazing guitar! You’re a talented guy, David. Very well explained and your playing has really up’d the game, brother man 👍🏻
Thank you Randy. I've got better with my pic control, using my modified pic, but I'm not expecting much better. But, it makes me happy and I'll never stop playing guitar... lol...
👍🤓👋🖐️✌️in Glockman.
Thanks so much.. I do appreciate it.😊
I truly miss you doing tech stuff. Android. Windows. Really anything tech. 😞
I am trying to make videos on what I actually have. I can't afford to purchase tech products these days. I said in this video that I will be releasing a video in a couple days with a tech related item, plus I'll be going over the gaming PC Noah got. Again, the first item was sent to me, to do a video on and the PC was purchased by Noah. I'll be happy to review any "tech" product that you send me too. I am not trying to be mean either, just being real.
the ones that sold this mower 1 of 2 things 1 they stole it or 2 they needed drug money
They were actually retired (very retired) and upper class, you could tell by the neighborhood and house they lived in. Plus the 6 car garage he had that stored all his antique cars in. They were well off...lol...they had money. So this was nothing to them. They were also very kind people and I wish more people were like them.
well congrats on get a great mower cheap I have the same mower paid 600 for it but now its surging so have to fig out how to fix it @@HayesTech
I'm also 5'8" and 245 lbs. It sounds like you and I get the same feedback from our doctors. I will make this purchase. Thank you for sharing.
This thing definitely helps. Just stick with it. I put on a UA-cam video, about 30 to 40 minutes long and walk while watching (at least once a day). It really works.
@@lifepoststroke8276 Thank you. I will.
Video by the slow, for the slow. Good job
Thank you, I do appreciate the comment and you watching the video.
Love my inspired by Gibson Hummingbird
I actually thought about getting that one too. I've heard nothing but good about it. I need another guitar to make videos on and am trying to decide on what to get. The money is the issue, as it is with all of us.
Great video! I was really happy to find such a thorough review of this model. THANK YOU!
You are very welcome. And thank you so much for commenting and for watching the video. Yes, this is an outstanding treadmill. We still use it daily, and it has not let us down yet.
Well done !
Thank you. It's still functioning fine too. I'm actually getting ready to make an insert out of Brazilian Rosewood to replace the adjustable saddle. I won't be gluing it in either but rather making a tight press fit in case we ever want to take this back to stock again. I'll keep all the hardware so if anyone ever wants to take it back to stock it will be very easy for them to do. Don't want to permanently alter it.
The bone really did bring this guitar to life ,, not taking away from the rosewood which is way better than plastic but bone is the way to go ! On a side not ,, I see your making improvements in your control while playing !!
I agree about plastic saddles. Yes, make it out of natural material and not plastic. I am working on making a tight fitting, Brazilian Rosewood plug, to replace the adjustable one that's in it. Then I will have a tight fitting bone saddle in that too. The adjustable saddle just doesn't allow the saddle to contact the top of the guitar in the way it should. So you get that 1960s clicky sound. Some people love it, but I'm not a fan of it. And I'm not going to glue this insert in either. That way, in the future, if my wife ever decides to sell the guitar, after I'm gone, they can take it back to stock, very easily.
I’m ready to cry! My husband died and never taught me to use this mower. I got it in a spot where there is a ledge and I can’t get it to back up! It just dies if I step on the reverse! I even put the key in the “mow in reverse” position. What’s wrong?
The reason it dies in reverse is you have to shut off the blade before going in reverse. There is a setting on the key, I think it's the first one, that allows you to go in reverse while the mower blades are running. Hope that helps.
If it's still shutting off while the key switch is in that position, then I would just shut off the blade before baking up. You may have to have someone look at that switch then because if the key is in the "run while blades are on" position and it's still shutting off them the switch is bad.
I just came from here
how tall are you? It seem your son is taller than you, and the chair seems fix you than him
I am 5' 8". My grandson is 6' 7". He loves it and it does fit him well. As it's wide and sits much further off the ground then normal chairs.
How are the new doors now, a year later? Thanks for the video. Unfortunately, the contractors my Lowes gave me didn't contact me until two additional phone calls and 5 weeks after my initial purchase of the service. Then they said they were too busy to come the first time we scheduled and wanted to reschedule for two weeks later, just to take the measurements. This wasn't Lowe's itself, but looks bad on them. I got my deposit back from Lowes. However, there's just no other great alternative here either.
all solid wood guitar on stage thats HS sorry but i have played both on stage and it does not matter even the guitars you buy its all about feel and sound it has nothing to do with price or wood being solid or not thats called being a snob if you think that you need an all solid wood for professional playing on stage or even in the studio.. what also makes one guitar better from another is not the price or name on it its whats best for what your after thats what matters
I said in this video that laminated guitars have a very slight difference in sound as most of the sound comes from the top of the guitar (between %85 to %90 or more). But it's my personal preference to only purchase all solid wood guitars, "for me". Again, my personal preference. And I did say that in this video, more than once. There are some very nice laminated guitars from several quality guitar manufacturers like Epiphone, Gibson, Martin Taylor and more. Nuff said...
to recover from/prevent a stroke eat carnivorish. No seed oils, which means no industrial pigs or chicken or any processed food. Ruminants only (cow, sheep , goat, deer, elk. etc)
Oh wow, David. I heard the difference, easily, when you did house of the risin' sun. Both saddles sounded good, but the bone really brings out everything the guitar has to offer. Now I'm listening to the second song. Look at you stretching that little finger on the G chord! Very well done. You can clearly hear the difference and neither are bad, but the bone edged out the rosewood saddle. Great move on moving to a bone saddle. Overall, just a great video, brother man. Very beautiful playing, in spite of the fact that you're so hard on yourself. You play much better than you think you do, on purpose! You're way to kind to me, my friend 👍
Thank you Randy. And yes, I am very critical with myself while playing guitar. I know how some people can be in the comments section. I'm so glad that you could hear the difference because there is a difference. UA-cam messed with the audio and you should have heard it in person. Man this thing sounds good again. I'll be looking forward to your next video too. Just watched your latest finger style class video yesterday. Can't wait to see more of your guitar collection too. You have some really nice ones. That Epiphone Excellente is the one I want next. Got to start saving up
Somebody's having fun with their guitar's drumming away, awesome Glockman.
Thank you John. The person I mentioned in the video, Randy, was talking with me and we got it down to the saddle. So I changed back to that bone saddle I had and then filed a ton of it away. They made it so wide that the strings were contacting the back side and causing a muted sound. This fixed it and man it's sounding like it used to but even clearer, because of the bone saddle. Wood is not the best substance to make a saddle out of and Gibson should have known that in 1965.
You can definitely hear the difference.
✌️in.
i have this very same sewing machine (my first one! i have not sewn since high school and i always wanted to get back into it and i love it!) and she is great for a first machine. but WHERE DID SHE GET THAT NIFTY CUTTER! THAT CUTTER IS A GAME CHANGER!! I WONDER CAN YOU ADJUST THE WIDTH OF IT? (I DESIGN AND CREATE CANVAS TOTE BAGS AND ACESSORIES)
That cutter is a Sizzix Big Shot and it takes different shaped cutters, like stars and circles and so on. My wife only uses the Singer now as a backup since she purchased the Baby Lock JASS ll. That machine has an 18 inch table with a 12 inch area from the needle to the frame. It's made for quilting and my wife loves it. You should check those out too. Especially if you make large quilts, as it allows you to scrunch a lot of the quilt between the needle and the machine. We also did a video on that one
"promosm" 🙈
Great review. I am 115 lbs do you think I can go with the cheaper model this brand makes? I have arthritis and can only do light walking. Thank you 💖
Yes, you can go with one that is cheaper as you don't need the extra weight capacity. I can't say how good those other models are though. I can only say that the construction of this one is great. We are still using it every day and haven't had any issues with it.
@@HayesTech thank you so much.
@@ll-qq9qr You are very welcome. And, it won't be as heavy, since you won't be getting the heavy duty one. Ours was over 125 lbs and hard to carry into the house. Good luck and let me know how it works for you. Oh, and I am the same person as Life Post Stroke. I am answering your comment, signed in, from my other channel Hayes Tech.
@@ll-qq9qr Oh, was looking at your uploads and they are really cool.
You guy's should learn how to properly tune your guitars, and mostly learn to play a little better...no offence....
Then make your own video and upload it. No offense... I would probably watch it. and wouldn't critique you're playing style or experience, but that's just how I am. Oh, I also had 2 strokes and can't play like I could before the second stroke, which effected my pic/strum side. I used to be much better, at least to my mind, not yours, no offence.. But I still love to play the guitar, regardless of my 2 strokes. Both guitars were tuned before starting the video, with new strings installed. I'm sure the strings may have stretched some, who knows. Thanks for the comment though.
Yes, what Hayes Tech said. Again, I'm not trying to be a jerk, we all have opinions. But if you can do better, make your own videos. And if you don't like this video, move on to a professional reviewing these guitars. You won't get the true sound though. They use audio effects to always sound good. They have their professional reputations to keep up. Someone like me don't care and give you the actual sound of these guitars. So there you go.
Northern Idaho in the house, how's things going, hoping I find you well, Glickman an family.
😎👍
Awesome drawing of a hat in your thumbnail at the end there, see you later Glockman.
Looks just like the belt I got, because I'm definitely more than 36 inches.
Lol .. yes, I'm a big wide in my waist. And Noah is another 4 inches, but he's also 6' 6 1/2"...
My skepticism is gone.
I believe I have a chair similar to this, is there a way to make the back more support me when I'm sitting up straight, like it leans so far back
Not in this version. The other one that I reviewed has a removable cushion just got lumber support.
You can also lock the chair in it's upright position, not allowing it to lean back. I want the ability for the chair to lean back, or even rock, so I don't lock the chair upright. I forgot to mention this in my last post to you .
🧐🧐👍👍 RECORDING KING 🧐🧐👍👍👍
I know.. I love my Recording King. If you listen to my 1 year later video you can actually hear how it's opened up more. Man this guitar sounds good.
The guitar that I know will fit snug is the Yamaha 800. There was no wiggle when I tested it.
That's awesome. I'm going to pin this comment so others will know. They also fit my 65 Epiphone Texan FT79N like a glove.
Same.problems.wive.putting shoes.a.sticking fingers also now seeing suspenderslolking at amazon
I wear these sneakers exclusively now. It's so easy for me to finally put in my shoes.
I think I want one like this. I have a Ariens 8/24. I don’t need that size I want. One like this.
I really wish I got a self propelled one. Don't get me wrong, this works great, but the other day with 8 inches of snow, it was as fast shoveling as it was trying to use this. A bigger one with bigger blades and self propelled would have made that job much easier. Let me know if you get one and how it works for you.
Buy a Ariens Path Pro 21. I have one and even the pile left at the end of the driveway is no problem for it . 208cc engine by the way.
