I have owned the Escort X50 passport 8500 since 2013 and she has served me well. I recently purchased the 360c MKII and looking forward to the performance upgrade.
This will come down to which style you like better . . . do you want a "two-in-one" unit that combines the radar detector and the dash camera? If so, the MAXcam 360c is the way to go. If you want the ability to remove the camera from your radar detector, then you will want to do the M2. If you like the idea of having the dash camera and the radar detector separately, go with the MAX 360c MKII with the M2. The MAXcam 360c is a MAX 360c MKII radar detector, just with the dash camera integrated. So in terms of performance for the radar detector side of things, everything is equal in terms of range detection and false alert filtering in our experience. Both are compatible with the Drive Smarter app and the settings menu (including the segmentation filters) are exactly the same. Here are some additional resources for you. @@Automoblog I gave escort my thoughts on a Maxcam 360 Mkii model with 4k Dash cam and features from redline like stealth and the 3 antennas as well as updated usb c port with a option of a Plug in Rear Dash Camera Setup
thank you for this video - I have a Max 3 which has a problem showing correct posted speeds & a Escort Passport that won't show my speed . Just can't find any information on a solution. Both have been updated . Still same issues .
I personally like the Auto Lo K setting which provides additional filtering on K bands. Although there are some "punch throughs" on places like John C Lodge in New Center/Midtown in Detroit, I like how that setting mostly ignores the digital signage around Detroit (I also get some 24.133 type of punch throughs around rail and shipping yards). However, if you like a quiet radar detector, Auto Lo K is a good setting to use. I turn off my KA band detection via the settings menu, which enables me to use the segmentation filters. Here in Michigan, I run on KA segments 2,5, and 8 which are for U.S. spec radar guns. It breaks down like this: KA Narrow 2: 33.700 to 33.900 GHz KA Narrow 5: 34.600 to 34.800 GHz KA Narrow 8: 35.400 to 36.600 GHz These are Escort's factory settings for KA narrow and I find they work well here in Michigan (I mostly see 34.7 and 35.5 frequencies). I speak more to this in my full review of the MAX 360c, if it's helpful: www.automoblog.com/escort-max-360c-mkii-review/ Thank you for watching our video. I hope that is helpful. Go Lions! ~ Carl
I've had trouble in the past . . . sometimes, I have to close the app and switch off my Bluetooth and that usually does it if I am having issues (like if it just shows the Bluetooth logo on the detector for a long time and doesn't connect). I've gone so far in the past to restart my phone, but most of the time, I'm able to resolve the issue by just closing the app and switching off my Bluetooth on my phone, then trying again. You are okay to just use Drive Smarter as it's the replacement for Escort Live going forward. If that doesn't work, you can message Escort's customer service via the app. I did that last fall when I was having some connection issues with my Redline 360c (some of it was because I had a Motorolla phone and they were working on getting the app to sync with that brand of phone). You can read more about my customer service experience here: www.automoblog.com/escort-max-360c-mkii-review/ I hope that helps. Drive Smarter has improved greatly over the last two years, but as you have seen, there can still be some connectivity issues. Thank you for watching our video. ~ Carl
@@Automoblog spoke with Escort twice today. They think something was wrong with the detector. I exchanged it for another one, and the second unit works fine. Thanks for the quick reply.
Best advice yet with radar detectors!! Find one that teabags the competition lol . . . thank you for making us nearly spit out our late night coffee 😂😂
Until you get desensitized to all the false alerts. Everything is a tradeoff. With Escorts youll get used to a super quiet detector but risk slower response time. With Unidens/others youll have super quick reactivity but get tired of the false alerts. Everything is a tradeoff and it depends on how/where you drive!
Yeah we only mention it briefly in this video . . . it's a naming thing and probably more of a technicality. The Redline 360c isn't technically part of the MAX family because "MAX" isn't in the name, but a lot of the technology inside of it (Blackfin DSP, for example) has filtered down and through the other members of the MAX family. Here is a more complete overview of the Redline: ua-cam.com/video/aFXebBjnkWg/v-deo.html
If you have the connected Escort, you can get lucky with various female police Officers roaming around. You have to figure it out because if you pick the wrong female police, you can get arrested. If you really wanna go nuts, you must get the Connected one, only in America and Canada.
It's a really good "middle ground" ... if you don't need the Wi-Fi capability, you can go with the standard 360 MKII and get the same hardware under the hood but for less money. Thank you for watching our video and for taking the time to comment.
Dude, why are you promoting Amazon? They’re the most expensive retailer! I thought you’re trying to help people get the right product for a good price! And do you event try these detectors? Or just read what the manufacturer prints out?! Seriously!

So you are saying the MK II is now fixed and is faster? Cuz it was a well known fact that it was a lemon when it came out and months later they were still struggling to fix it it was extremely slow and didn't even detect the Genesis II at all. The 360C was more than twice as fast and detected all the hard ones like the Genesis II that the MK II couldn't even detect at all. Trying to see if they are actually fixed and are better now with the latest updates but when people make vidoes like this that are literally just an advertisement regurgitating the sell sheet statements escort put out way back when it was released and turned out to be a lemon. This might literally be the least informative video I've ever watched there are zero facts presented only regurgitated marketing highlights released by escort. People need to flag this garbage and get it knocked down the search results. The only intelligent thing said was to go listen to vortex if you want real info. that's where it was first presented that it was a lemon and their tests contradict everything you just said about the MK II
